Since there are disambiguation pages at most ambiguous tropical storm names (I figured Tropical Storm Andrew would be one), someone might interpret the redirect as an indication that there weren't any other storms by this name. 49.198.51.54 (talk) 08:06, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I am a survivor of Hurricane Andrew. I have several conflicting accounts of how many persons were "killed" as a result of Andrew. The key is differentiating between deaths caused as a "direct result" of Andrew and other casualties related to secondary events (i.e. mortal injuries as a result of the storm vs. deaths caused by the aftermath). If you can disambiguate between the sources of the "fatalities" as a result of Hurricane Andrew, it would be helpful (even to me, and I lived in Perrine, Dade County). Considering the weight of casualty statistics, it is advisable to research and cite sources regarding casualties as a 'result' of Andrew. Respectfully submitted, Jason. Despite the intensity of the storm at landfall, the article is pretty short, with its page length being 13k bytes and 1,126 words (including the lead). This means that the article can be merged into its parent without having to remove information since it's section is small too. ZZZ'S09:23, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Merge per @Zzzs. It's clear that this article is way too short to be a stand-alone article. Also, as its been more than 7 days and no one opposed, you can merge it now. Tavantius (talk) 19:20, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Leaning oppose, I'm not sure about what you mean by the size. Andrew's article is already 8,600 words. That's at the length where I wouldn't want to add much more. Plus, Andrew is already a featured article. I think there's still more information out there for the Bahamas article, so any additional information would overwhelm the main article. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:25, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The impacts section in the Bahama article is 7,537 bytes while the Bahama section is 5,624, which would be 15k at most, assuming both sections do not contain the same information, which is highly unlikely. I believe it would realistically be somewhere between 7k-10k bytes. Also, the size of the Florida aftermath, and possibly the Florida impacts, is the main reason why the article is so long. If it's allowed, I believe we can just trim both sections to allow room for the Bahamas article. ZZZ'S00:24, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I'd be OK with merging the Bahamas sub-article if the Florida portion was trimmed a bit. I'd just hesitate at the moment with the article the size as it is. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:28, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, the article is now under 8,000 words, so I think a merger is appropriate now. I'd still like to see the Florida aftermath condensed a bit more, but I don't think that severely affects its status as an FA. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:00, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
