The result of the proposal was - no convincing argument to move especially while leaving others without adding specialist. Keith D (talk) 00:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Humanities College → Specialist Humanities College — Currently this article is called Humanities College however i believe that this section be moved to Specialist Humanities College. This is for a number of different reasons the most important of which is that specialist humanites college is the offical name of a school given this title and that humanities college is merely a shortened version for lazy people. - Oppose. The article currently uses the correct term as can be verified by checking all the goverment publications and websites. There are articles for all the specialist schools and the titles used should be consistent. Dahliarose (talk) 18:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose The term "Humanities College" is the correct one as used by Department for Children, Schools and Families on The Standards Site, and is the format used in Wikipedia for all the other specialisms. The majority of school articles for schools with this specialism, link to this page. User Electrobe is mistaken that it is part of Tring School's official name. Although the school uses the phrase "Tring School a Specialist Humanities College", in various forms, on its website and in its prospectus, its official name is just "Tring School", as shown at DCSF, Ofsted, Schoolsfinder and Hertfordshire County Council. ~ Scribble Monkey (talk) 11:48, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Agree As you will see below specialist humanities college is the offical and commanly used name of many schools. (note: i have never once stated that specialist humanities college is part of the schools name. (Electrobe (talk) 16:30, 10 January 2008 (UTC))
- Oppose - no convincing argument has been made for this change. TerriersFan (talk) 18:18, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Any additional comments:
Where is the evidence that Specialist Humanities College is the correct official name? They are referred to merely as Humanities Colleges on the Standards Site, which is an official government site. This is just one of a series of articles on the various specialist schools. The articles all need to be consistent. Furthermore the names used for article titles on Wikipedia should be the ones which are in common use (Eton College for instance is just called Eton College rather than its very long official name). Dahliarose (talk) 11:28, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
The evidence is that I work at one, and thats what its called and its the commanly used name by students as well as staff (Electrobe (talk) 16:05, 10 January 2008 (UTC))
- Specialist schools are a national scheme. The terminology is laid down by the Department for Education. Wikipedia articles have to be supported by written sources not by hearsay. Please provide some written sources to prove your point. Dahliarose (talk) 17:09, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
As you called the specilist schools yourself you are agreeing with me. (Electrobe (talk) 17:23, 11 January 2008 (UTC))
