[edit]Uh... did they really do the taping already or should this thing be changed? (I'm pretty sure even if they did, there're gonna be people saying it needs to be pulled off anyway) 3pointswish (talk) 22:19, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes they probably did, but we need a source and it hasn't aired yet. So it doesn't matter, me and another user have been watching it but revert it if you see it again. Thanks SteelersFan-94 22:24, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Shining Apprentice
[edit]When has this ever been said in WWE? The announcers always called it by the correct name, shining wizard. He's the one who actually made that move popular. TJ Spyke 04:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't remember it either, but it is actually sourced. ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 04:42, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it's the shining wizard on wwe.com. http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/hurricanehelms/bio/ 3pointswish (talk) 19:23, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

New Finisher
[edit]Sooo....anybody wanna guess what that monstrosity of a move was? I haven't ever seen its like before. It is surely new, right? My only guess is some sort of neckbreaker. Any objections...? One day till I add the move to his moveset and the neckbreaker page. Video of the move can be found here at 4:37. Remember, YouTube is not a reliable source and is only being used as reference for classification. --Oxico (talk) 03:13, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Apparently someone figured out that it's a "double underhook mat slam" name the Underdog Drop. Hm. Catchy.--Oxico (talk) 21:23, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Ring Name
[edit]I'm thinking Helms is is using his old superhero gimmick, where he was a reporter, (Gregory Helms) and would wrestle as his "superhero alter-[ego," The Hurricane. being Helms is a reporter again, I have a hunch he will do the whole Hurricane thing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.130.13 (talk) 18:16, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
2009 Return to wrestling
[edit]In the June 23 episode of ECW, in the segment where he was interviewing Mark Henry, heavy equipment fell on one of the staff (obviously a worked shoot). Then Helms, as the interviewer, disappears. Then his "superhero gimmick" The Hurricane appears and saves the guy. A "Whoooooosh" sound, then you see Helms (reporter) fixing his tie. I think this is the return of The Hurricane to TV wrestling, as he returned to house show wrestling a few weeks ago.
Should it be added that he is using three ring names? WWE.com lists Gregory helms and teh Hurricane as two diffrent people, but when the Hurricane comes out the buttom screen says "Hurricane Helms" and the annoncer introduces him as Hurricane Helms.142.162.39.171 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:01, 22 August 2009 (UTC).
GA Review

Reviewer: Wizardman 01:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC) Overall this is a nice article. Nice to see good quality since I like The Hurricane. Anyway, here's some issues I've found:
- "He later brought back The Hurricane character, and appeared as both Gregory Helms and The Hurricane on ECW." I presume this should be present tense but I could be wrong.
- I think it works as either, but it makes more sense to have it present tense so I've reworded it. ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 13:18, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- "He won his first championship shortly afterwards, by defeating "Playboy" T.C. Cruise to become the SWA Light Heavyweight Champion." What's the SWA? Note it. Same for SCW in the first paragraph.
- "They also wrestled each other in a number one contendership ladder match at Starrcade, in which both Moore and Helms grabbed the contract at the same time." For what title? I presume cruiserweight.
- "He made his return to the SmackDown! brand in February 2006, to start a feud with Nunzio, Kid Kash and the other cruiserweights." Was he automatically moved due to winning the title, or something else? Clarify.
- Clarified. ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 13:18, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- "Helms went on to feud with Jimmy Wang Yang over the Cruiserweight Title, after a tag team match where Hardy and Yang defeated Helms and Sylvan." Which Hardy?
I'll put this on hold and pass upon completion. Wizardman 01:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- I believe I've gotten eveything. Thanks for the review. ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 13:18, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Looks good now so article passed. Wizardman 16:34, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]both helms and jericho were arrested on 1/27/2009 by the erlanger police department. they spent about an hour in the Kenton county jail before being released you can search the website by date for names of inmates, both mugshots are on there along with other relevant information. here is the link http://www.jailtracker.com/kncdc/kenton_inmatelist.html im not adding this because im reallly new to this and dont know how ot properly cite my info —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mraboveaverage (talk • contribs) 00:49, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Motorcycle accident and death
[edit]Coachman, Rock, and even bleacherreport have comfirmed that he died in an accident. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.211.43 (talk) 23:02, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know about Coachman or Rock, but bleacherreport definetly doesn't say he's dead – just that he was injured in a motorbike accident, which is what all the other sources say. NiciVampireHeart 13:46, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
He's not dead... here's a link in his website of him doing rehab. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFcSg0N24iQ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.215.209.1 (talk) 05:44, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
personal life
[edit]Shane recently posted a tweet on twitter stating that on wikipedia it says that he has been divorced, married and has two kids, which he says is not true. And considering the line in the personal life section that says he has two kids doesnt have a reference, should be removedMjs1991 (talk) 20:57, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Gregory Helms → Shane Helms – Although his legal name is Gregory and he's wrestled under that name before, he goes by Shane. All his social media handles include "ShaneHelms" and news coverage refer to him as Shane Helms. WP:COMMONNAME is either Shane Helms or The Hurricane, but not Gregory Helms. - Support Makes sense. It's not 15 years ago anymore. Even in nostalgia, he's Shane a good deal of the time (and too many people are already called The Hurricane). InedibleHulk (talk) 07:29, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

- Ambivalent. Let's be honest, if we were really following WP:COMMONNAME, we'd be going with The Hurricane (wrestler). For the sake of avoiding disambiguators, using his real name is a solid option. Problem is his full name is Gregory Shane Helms, and while he does usually use his middle name in daily life, and has used it in the ring before, he's used Gregory Helms on screen as well, including during the period where he was most visible to the public. Which is a common issue for wrestlers whose period of greatest visibility was during boom periods—wrestlers like that are better known to the general public by those names, not necessarily the one they use now, making them more of the common name to readers. Honestly, any of the three possibilities is acceptable, so a move isn't really necessary, as long as redirects cover the others. oknazevad (talk) 11:45, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose While he's arguably/probably best known as Hurricane, they were still referring to him as "Gregory Helms" most of the time that he played that character. He also had the lengthy Cruiserweight Championship reign under this name. I don't really see a case to be made that Shane is his WP:COMMONNAME.LM2000 (talk) 12:14, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- I have no real opinion. As LM or Oknazevad said, he has other names (Gregory helms, Shane helms, the hurricane) . In fact, I think his common name is Hurricane Helms. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 10:12, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
