Radio Broker
[edit]I strongly disagree that Radio Broker features either Indie Rock or Alternative Rock. Though the bands featured are clearly independent, they do not fit within my definition of Indie as the music is too electronic. I didn't dare to change it myself since the other guy had references. These are extremely weak however, one is a review (=pretty much as unofficial as it gets) and one is an amazon page or something where I can't even find the word "alternative". If anyone has a protest to this I'll give you a couple of days but then I'll change it myself.
Reason?
[edit]Is it just me or does this page seem a little unnecessary? Shapeshift1 (talk) 01:22, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well at the moment it does look a tad shabby, mainly because there's not a lot to write about, and most of what's there just looks like speculation based on an early demo. But it'll take shape when the game is released; by then we'll know the stations, tracklistings, DJs and commercials and it should resemble the other GTA soundtrack articles. Vladivostok FM Tracklist
[edit]What are the sources for the current tracklist for Vladivostok FM? On Rockstar's site you can only hear 3 different songs but we have 6 listed here. So are some confirmed or speculation? 71.75.103.239 (talk) 18:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, for the time being I'm removing the extra songs. There is clearly only 3 songs played and only one of those was by Ruslana. 71.75.103.239 (talk) 06:10, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Incorrect attributions?
[edit]I realise this will probably never be read but I believe the three "unplayed" songs, one of them at least is played, I'm sure I've heard it in game, possibly credited as Dyshi – "Взгляни на небо" (Vzglyani na nebo / Look to the Sky) but possibly actually Многоточие - Дыши and I think Многоточие is maybe Mnogotochi, I don't speak Russian but am guessing this based on this (http://www.sras.org/library_russian_music) page mentioning В жизни так бывает as a Mnogotochi hit and searching youtube for "В жизни так бывает" turns up многоточие.....в жизне так бывает so I'm kinda guessing многоточие = mnogotochi and then in related videos.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHHoa7c2-rI&feature=related but I realise this vague speculation is hardly up to Wikipedia standards.--86.21.15.190 (talk) 10:56, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Electrochoc
[edit]Erm... someone's added Louis La Roche as part of the tracklist... is this confirmed? Listening to the snippet on the official site, I can't hear the song stated ('Love'). Fix? (Hendrixx (talk) 12:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC))
- I'd personally have preferred to wait until the game is released and we have the full tracklists in black and white (and therefore sourced) before we added songs to this article. At the moment those songs listed aren't sourced and aren't easily verifiable, so if you think one of them is wrong, you have every right to remove it. Dbam Talk/Contributions 18:56, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
More Music
[edit]On this page [1] of the Official Xbox Magazine article, the author mentions Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Smashing Pumpkins and One Vision by Queen. The author also mentions The Stooges. Do with this as you wish.

New artists
[edit]Recently, people have been adding many new artists and songs, especially on the Vibe, Liberty Rock Radio and Radio Broker, and I haven't seen any confirmation of these. I don't think people should add the songs because they think they're going to be in the game, but I just want confirmation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.156.83.7 (talk) 20:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've added a template to the Music stations section. I suspect at least some of the songs on there are BS; it happens at the other soundtrack pages too, but they're verifiable so it's easy to identify BS songs and remove them. Dbam Talk/Contributions 20:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- If the songs are verifiable, where are the sources? Checking the game is not the same as being verifiable. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 08:04, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Lack of Sources
[edit]This page has zero sources. I understand the game comes out on Tuesday, and there are leaked copies that people have (pirated and otherwise), but unless a credible source lists the soundtrack for the game it has no business being on wikipedia. This entire page is original research or speculation. This page needs to be re-done, or mostly deleted until we can verify the soundtrack from a reliable source. I will be making changes soon unless someone can provide sources (I will look as well) Rowdyoctopus (talk) 08:11, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, gotta say I agree, fwiw.--220.238.28.76 (talk) 12:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- There is no point in even going to this page anon. users just keep adding W/E they want and when u delete it it just goes back up this page either needs protection or Deletion because there are no sources for any thing —Preceding unsigned comment added by Butters0422 (talk • contribs) 03:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
I see I have some support. Kotaku, a reliable source, has released what songs are found on the One Disc release of the games soundtrack. The songs are likely to be in the game, but they are for sure on the Soundtrack that comes with the Special Edition of the game. Other than this, all we have are the 6 revealed radio stations. I might draft a large revision of this page tonight. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 05:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Major Revision
[edit]OK, here is what I have so far: User:Rowdyoctopus/GTA_IV_Soundtrack. Let me know what you think. If there are any changes you think I should make, or anything I may have done wrong (or unorthodox). This is my first major page revision. I am also considering requesting the page gets protected. It is already victim to much vandalism, on top of the good faith un-sourced edits. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 07:49, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
Just to add, I think I have done pretty much everything I can at this point. I will give it some time for editors to look over. If anyone has ideas or suggestions for things I should add, or maybe something I should remove, please say so here. If no one objects, I will change the page before the game releases this coming Tuesday and new information can be added as it is reported by reliable sources. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 12:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Looks great, I say go for it. It'll make a much better foundation for the article then the mess that's there now. Do you have similar plans for the other soundtrack articles or are you just concentrating on this one? Dbam Talk/Contributions 19:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- I was just focusing on this one for now. I have interest in the game and came across this article and was disappointed in the mess that it was. I could help other articles in the future, I just didn't have any plans for it. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 23:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
There does not seem to be much activity here. I went ahead and changed it. I already had one person revert back, but they gave no reasoning. I reverted it for now and suggested they come to the talk page if they have an issue with the edit. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 04:47, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Unsourced Material
[edit]Here is my suggestion for the time being. This article had over 100 edits in the last 24 hours. Almost none of them included sources. While I understand people have leaked copies of the game, until we can reliably source the soundtrack, there will be nothing stopping people from editing the article and adding what they wish. In other words, we have nothing reliable to refer to. My suggestion is that a no tolerance policy is taken, at least until the game comes out. While it is highly likely some of the songs and even DJs are in the game, if those are allowed to go in unsourced, the floodgates open. Once the game is out, I am confident we will be able to fill in and source the entire soundtrack. Suggestions, comments, and disagreements welcome. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 05:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Why change everything?
[edit]Honestly, there was no reason to remove everything that was previously listed, especially if you're going off of something from a UK magazine. That does not mean whatsoever the information is factual for the U.S. Yes I know, the page has had more changes than anything, but still, it should have been left alone. You'll more than likely have to change it back, once everyone gets their game starting at 12AM tonight (4/28), as well as tomorrow (4/29). If no one already does it, I will be looking over the manual for the game when I get it, and I will post everything as listed. --Gorillazfan249 (talk) 13:41, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you can properly cite the manual, then go ahead and add the information once you get it. I removed everything just as I explained in the above section. Since nothing was sourced, there was no basis for the article and people were able to add whatever they felt and there was little for other editors to fall back on when determining what was true and what was false. I will have the game some time Tuesday morning (around 8 AM my time) and will either help, or add the information found in the manual myself. The UK source is a magazine review. Internationally, the only difference in the game is a censored version in Australia and New Zealand. The UK, and thus the UK reviewers, will play the game as everyone in the United States and the rest of the world (outside of Australia and New Zealand)Rowdyoctopus (talk) 19:30, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I should have made this clear. If you do not know how to cite the game manual, and wish to add the songs once you have it in your possession, please do, but they will be double checked and a citation added. Once the game is officially out, we can remove most of the references as long as the game manual includes all the songs.Rowdyoctopus (talk) 19:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit]"Your source did not provide song names, just audio." i dont see why this should stop it being in the article, i know for a fact that those are the song names in the preview track, so its pretty likely those songs are going to be in the game, so isnt it pretty informative for someone reading this article to see that those songs will be in the game? come tomorrow i guarentee those songs will be on there, we will know the soundtrack tomorrow anyway so i can't be bothered changing it back again, may aswell just leave it as it is. -213.40.226.191 (talk) 20:07, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- You "knowing" is WP:OR. I agree that those are likely to be the songs in the game, but due to the nature of this article, adding unsourced material at this point is a bad idea. There are lot's of things I "know" about the soundtrack, but until I have a reliable source to back me up I cannot add it to the article. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 20:22, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
New info should be included
[edit]Okay, On the GTA IV gametrailers review, Niko is switching driving and listening to Top Down by Swizz Beatz, so I think it should included in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.96.85.49 (talk) 02:47, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have a link to this review? Is it printed anywhere? Does it say in the video it is that song, or do you know because you know the song? Rowdyoctopus (talk) 03:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Here ya go, here's a link to the GTA IV review: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rVTux0Eisho and the song is played while the soundtrack is being reviewed. The song is played from 9:52 to 10:01. Here's a link to the actual song, you can tell its the same. http://youtube.com/watch?v=w94jbuRlJ48 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.96.85.49 (talk) 05:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will watch the review. Unless they mention the song though I do not think we can add it based on this source. Since we are the ones coming to the conclusion it is that song, it is considered Original Research. But I will have the official game manual shortly and will be able to add every song, so it will be up soon anyway. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 07:15, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Mind the citations
[edit]When this article is stable (oh, one day), the references should be checked. Hopefully by then it won't be necessary to cite every single song listing, as other cite-able compilations of songs crop up on the net. It looks like anons are 'cheating' by slapping the Official PlayStation Magazine citation beside every new song they add, to make them look cited. Since the review is in print, and I don't have the magazine, I can't verify these additions. /Carson 07:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am keeping a close eye on the article. I will have the game in 6 or 7 hours and can verify then. Right now, this does not sound reliable, but my brother bought the game and he is nice enough to send me the soundtrack information over the net. He is just copying what he sees in the game manual and sending it to me. I'll add it and verify once I have my own copy. When I can do that, we can remove all citations on individual songs, as everything should be in the game manual. As far as the OPM source, I saw it was being used to cheat. I added all those original songs and have the mag. I added everything that was in the mag in one edit, anything being added now is not there. Since the real soundtrack will be up shortly, I am not taking the time to revert all the unsourced edits, especially since they are likely in the game anyway. The only reason I was against it before was because no one had the game (officially) and people seemed to be coming here and adding anything they wanted. This close to the real deal, and most people playing the game anyway it can slide. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 07:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Game Credits vs. Real Life
[edit]There has been some edits, on the verge of edit warring, involving artists and songs that either have different titles, or are spelled differently in real life compared to how the game credits them. The only similar situations I can think of, other than other GTA soundtracks, is the video games Guitar Hero and Rock Band. The consensus for those games is to use the titles and spellings as credited in the game/game manual, and then to make a note if it differs significantly from what the actual title/spelling is. Significantly is considered to mean enough to not know what the game is talking about. I wanted to open up the discussion here and see what people thought. The reasoning behind what they do at the Guitar Hero and Rock Band pages is those are about the games, not the actual artists or songs. Therefore they report things as the game does and note if it is significantly different. Until a consensus is made, please leave the article as is. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 18:56, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- This is illogical. We exist in the real world, so the real names of the artists and the actual song titles should be used instead of the erroneously copy edited versions from the game. It makes no sense to spend your time reverting the page to bad information. Put yourself in the perspective of a person looking for information on the song or artist. You want the correct information. Do you want this page to accurately reflect the artists and songs featured in the game and/or on the soundtrack releases, or do you want to simply mirror the mistake-ridden game manual? "The Choice Is Yours." 216.185.5.254 (talk) 19:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- It would accurately reflect the artist information, just as an added note. This article is the Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack page. Some mistakes are probably typos (Mobb Deep vs. Mobb Depp), but I think something like crediting The Stooges song to Iggy Pop is not just a mere oversight on behalf of Rockstar. I am not saying they are purposefully discrediting the Stooges, but it would seem more than just a typo. If I was looking for information on a song or artist from the game and came to this page, I would want the right information, which is why I am suggesting we add it. I realize it is not there now. This is why I opened the discussion. What I am suggesting is we list the songs as found in the game manual. Then, where needed, we add something that says, "Hey, Rockstar messed up and the song should be credited to this person." Rowdyoctopus (talk) 21:26, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Rowdyoctopus asked me for my input based on what I've done with the Guitar Hero/Rock Band lists, and my suggestion is to use the in-game credits and using footnotes ({{fn}} and {{fnc}}) to tag any song that is incorrectly labeled. Now, I would only go as far on this if it's a drastically different title, if its a clear mispelling, I'd go with the obvious pick, but if it's like an alternate song name or a word is completely off, it should be the one in the game, noting the true name or artist in a footnote. --MASEM 00:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
I went back through and looked at a bunch of the edits people were making concerning this issue. I want to first apologize, I lumped the edits made by a few users together and reverted them all, when some of them were actually constructive (wikilinks to the wrong page, editor's typos ect.). I went through the article and changed those things back. I then added footnotes to songs such as "I Wanna Be Your Dog" to indicate that the game credit is wrong and then I provided the actual credit. If there are any more songs in similar situations, please do the same instead of actually changing it. Things that are not ambiguous (Audio 2 instead of Audio Two) should be left alone. It is obvious who the game is crediting. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 20:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
Lazlow
[edit]Lazlow doesn't appear to be credited as host of Integrity 2.0 in the manual, should he have a separate source? Dbam Talk/Contributions 09:43, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- I had a separate source, let me see if I can find it. I do not have time now, but I will look for it later tonight. I want to say it was the UK Original Playstation Magazine, but I don't know for sure and unless you have it you cannot check yourself. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 21:24, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Soviet Connection
[edit]Should it be noted that Michael Hunter's "Soviet Connection" is a recurring theme throughout the game such as 'mission complete' and through the pause menu? I've also noticed its on the official site as a different rendition. It's probably not relevant, but I thought I'd point it out. -D Deadeyes
- I will look into it. If I can get some sources, I will probably add something. If anyone has any, feel free to contribute. Also, you can sign your name by typing four consecutive ~. If you do not have an account, please feel free to register. Either way, you should still sign your posts. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 04:34, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah it is interesting how different variations of the theme play throughout the game. The version that plays on the loading screen is specifically called "GTA4 Loading Theme". .:Alex:. 07:18, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Reggaeton
[edit]That's BS San Juan Sounds has the smallest playlist of any Radio Station with only 8 songs, and there's so much to chose from too! Oh well at least Reggaeton has it's own Radio Station though. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 08:06, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- It is unfortunate some radio stations are smaller than others, but this isn't really the place to complain about it. No one here came up with what songs on are on it. We just copied what we have. Rowdyoctopus (talk) 18:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

- It looks like we can use those pages as a source. They seem to have cleared up many of the typos and crediting errors. I would prefer to use the manual as a primary source, and then this site as a cross reference. If they fixed an error from the manual, we should be OK to change it here. I am going to do some of the more obvious ones, and get the source. Also, if anyone knows how to add images, go ahead and add all the logos from each radio station using the above link. Terry Riley
[edit]I cannot believe that everyone neglected Terry Riley's "A Rainbow in Curved Air" that plays when you are on the computer at tw@. Then again, I am not positive if it is the exact same version but if it isnt then somebody plagiarized. Thoughts? 76.254.197.75 (talk) 04:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Missing track
[edit]I have a rip of all the game audio. There is a track from The Beat 102.7 labeled "# Not Found In Tracklist (Fevah Leevah)#". It's a 1:44 rap but I don't know what it is or who it's by. It seems there should be 18 rather than 17 tracks listed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.67.132.203 (talk) 10:21, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Electro-Choc
[edit]Right now the official Rockstar site says this channel plays "Modern electro and Dance rock". While here it says it's "Electro house/Dance rock" which actually is way more accurate.
Although, I would really like to delete the "Dance rock" part since seriously, has anyone ever heard of such a genre, it's kind of silly since it's obviously EDM in the first place.
I quickly googled "Dance rock" and the first result I got is some "dance rock" tag on Last FM which applies to Panic! At The Disco, Franz Ferdinand amongst others. Those artists is nothing like anything played on Electro-Choc.
I'm going to edit this to show Electro-Choc as an electro house station, since I feel "dance rock" is a genre made up on the spot.
However, if anyone disagrees or think this is OR feel free to revert.
My ultimate question would be, should this article say what it is, or what Rockstar claims it is?
Bootini (talk) 16:04, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Since this is a game, we generally go by what the game developers claim. A similar issue comes up in a game like Rock Band. While the current article for List of songs in Rock Band dos not contain the genres, it has been discussed because they can be sorted by genre in the game. The main issue was that many times the genre in the game is either misleading or flat out wrong. It was determined, just like with how to credit the songs, it should be by how the game lists/categorizies it. In the end the genres were left off that article due to space concerns. Randomization of tracks in cars
[edit]After having played the game for quite a while, and then reading this article, I noticed the article mentions that the tracks are no longer randomized. As far as I can tell, this is untrue; the songs seem to switch frequently as the in-game commercials as well as the songs themselves are impossible to predict, at least as far as I can tell. I've added a citation needed superscript under the claim until someone can prove otherwise. I haven't re-written it because I may not be paying attention; the superscript seems more neutral in the mean time. Shutsuji (talk) 00:10, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I completely agree - that's why the radio station lists are Playlists, not Tracklists. Tracklist is a list of songs played in a particular order (like on the back of an album cover). A playlist is "a list of recorded songs or pieces of music chosen to be broadcast on a radio show or by a particular radio station." (dictionary definition). example: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/ This is fact, yet somebody is insistent that the songs are not in a random order and keeps editing the article as such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.209.117 (talk) 16:29, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Display title
[edit]@Rhain, Czar, Masem, and Dbam: So after adding the infobox for the soundtrack album (which after the discussion on the main article should be the best solution for it) the display title got messed up.
