Bosses and Previous Titles

[edit]

I think the sentence about bosses in the 'Changes from previous titles' section is a bit misleading. I don't know about any other bosses retreating, but I do know that at least the first boss in the original Gradius will blow itself up if you don't destroy it in time, preventing you from getting the points for the kill. This has basically the same effect as the retreating bosses of Gradius V, but I suppose the sentence is technically right as is. Still, maybe it should be clarified a bit? Style

[edit]

I've made some changes, up until the point where the story description begins, the text of which may (I'm not sure) may be partially derived from game text itself. The changes themselves are minor and mostly concern grammar and style- are people happy with what's done? Bosola 17:10, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, it has certainly improved. Cheers ~ Vic Vipr 18:07, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only parts derived from the game text is the first paragraph in my lousy attempt at summarizing the events (see Storyline) that occur in the game. That area could certainly benefit from some attention. ~ Vic Vipr 12:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This part is very thorough (kudos!), but also rather in-universe. I'll try to rewrite it, using a more out-of-universe approach. -- Bakabaka 08:16, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DVD or cd?

[edit]

THat japanese page says dvd-rom. Arent all PS2 games dvd-roms?! --Larsinio

Sure aren't! In fact, many PS2 games ship on CD as opposed to DVD. I have originals of Contra Shattered Soldier as well as Gradius V and both are CD, the Compact Disc logo is present on the back of the covers. Vic Vipr 19:41, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have just checked the disc in a CD/DVD reader on my PC, and the capacity is 538 Mb. My guess is that it is a CD. Moreover, I found a file system.cnf which contains a line "BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SLES_520.95;1". Make your bets :-P

screenshots

[edit]
Can you find some quality screenshots for thsi game? All ive been able to find are blurry jpegs. --Larsinio 19:42, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gradius V Loop Numbers

[edit]

How many loops are there actually? Or does it go on Ad Infinitum?

255 256 to be exact, and it takes about 80 minutes to complete one loop. Further, the difficulty peaks at loop ten.
Guess I should add this to the article :) -Vic Vipr 19:43, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay

[edit]

I expanded the section, explaining the power meter structure and specifying what options are. I ran into problems with the option types though: since all I ever use myself is 'direction', I don't clearly remember what the others do exactly. Will replay and post when I get the chance, tho :) If anyone beats me to it, feel free! -- Bakabaka 10:45, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent work, cheers :) Combination 11:39, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Options vs. options

[edit]

Is there any solid reason to write the word 'Option' (or 'Multiple' for that matter) with a capital initial? The article's mixed about it now, both 'Option' and 'option' abound. I myself prefer a lowecase initial, but if anyone objects... -- Bakabaka 11:18, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My user manual writes it with a capital letter: "Multiple". Are there other sources to compare? Fafner 11:40, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So does mine, although it's translated into Dutch (in an awful way ;)) I'll change my captilasation habits to 'Option'. --Bakabaka 12:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA on hold

[edit]

Here's a list of suggestions and requisites before it can be a GA.

  • Source it! Even if its the game manual, source statements, especially in gameplay.
  • Plot. Make it succint. You don't have to tell us all the game, and if you do, put spoiler warnings on it.
  • Images: something showing gameplay? I found plenty of images: example. As long as you source where you got it and add fair use rationale, it'll be fine. See Halo 2 screenshots for examples of what you need to add to the images. They aren't necessary per se, but would definitely help.
  • Most importantly, expand the lead. It talks about improvements, and what its about, but doesn't state why its notable. Halo sold a gazillion copies; what did Gradius do?
  • More internal links?

Grammar, etc looks good... I'll check it over thoroughly when you've done everything else.

PS: As per the to-do, I would suggest fleshing out the reception (source complaints from gamers, etc), but they aren't vital to it passing or failing. Dåvid ƒuchs (talk • contribs) 22:45, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reviewing, I'll see about implementing your suggestions pronto. Combination 22:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It also could really use a screenshot or two.--SeizureDog 08:42, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Failed

[edit]

This is the first time I have failed a GAC, but it has been over a week that it has been on hold and the problems still have not been fixed that were brought up here. I'm afraid that this article is not GA quality. I invite you to leave a message on my talk page when you think the article is ready and I would be happy to review it. G.rev?

[edit]

G.rev's article says that they were responsible for "programming and background graphic design", yet they are not mentioned within this article. Anyone know why? Hattes (talk) 18:31, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
