Article Name

[edit]

The name of this article should probably be "Xbox 360 Game Room" or "Arcade Live Game Room". You only get to this article if you use caps in "Game Room", and there is no disambiguation page to otherwise bring you here. Any thoughts?LedRush (talk) 15:27, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The name of the product is just Game Room and it isn't specific to the Xbox 360. Since there are no other pages called game room (except a redirect to recreation room) I don't think a retitle is necessary. I'll add a hatnote though. White 720 (talk) 15:59, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is there more we can do than add a hatnote to the rec room article? Otherwise, no one will find this article.LedRush (talk) 16:01, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
More links should be added from other pages. I've already added a link to the Microsoft video gaming template, for example. Additionally, games available in Game Room should link to this page. White 720 (talk) 16:03, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Games list

[edit]

Considering Microsoft plans to add over 1000 games to the service, I feel the games list should either be split off into another article or just removed. (It will become excessively long and hard to maintain with 5-7 new games out every week). --Wean0r (talk) 07:43, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is true that the list will probably become too long to include, but that day has not yet come. Why not cross that bridge when we get to it? Having the list should increase traffic to this article and hopefully allow for it to grow into more than it currently is.LedRush (talk) 14:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can the list be divided in the Game Pack 001, and Game Pack 002? that would be nice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.253.216.120 (talk) 16:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The list should be organized in some way, for example by game pack number or by platform. For guidance, see List of Xbox Live Arcade games. White 720 (talk) 18:03, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay we can just deal with it when it happens. I have converted the list to a sortable table. --Wean0r (talk) 01:30, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking of converting it to a table when I made my modifications, but wasn't sure what information to include. And I didn't even know which games were in each pack. So thanks for taking care of that. :) Reach Out to the Truth 02:08, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the "Available games" list is starting to get a bit large and really should be separated out into its own article, which is of course linked from here. A related question is this: Game Pack 003 apparently had the games that were going to be in Game Pack 004 included in it, but those games couldn't be accessed until May 12, it would seem. I opened up Game Room today, and instead of having a new Game Pack to download (or having an update pushed to me), all the games were already available. I added a footnote to that effect for the new additions, but if someone knows a better way to handle this, feel free to change it. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 15:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think we will need a better solution eventually if MS keeps it up, as we will have many footnotes saying basically the same thing. Is it even necessary at all? The table already states that those games were released on May 12, and they are in Game Pack 003, so a reader should be able to figure it out. --Wean0r (talk) 06:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that we need to split the article into, say, a page called Game Room and a page called List of Game Room titles. Ray and jub (talk) 11:09, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I only copied over the list of available games; personally, I think the list of future releases won't get too long, as long as editors insist on some valid source indicating the game is actually on the release schedule for Game Room (i.e., no speculative releases or wish-lists). I won't delete the list from here just yet, in order to give editors a bit more time to comment. However, if someone else decides to be bold, delete away. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 15:59, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good work, I like what you've done. I think maybe the 'Upcoming' list should be moved over to the Games page, but we'll see what consensus is. Personally, I think Upcoming lists can get a bit out of control, but they seem to have their fans. Ray and jub (talk) 18:09, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. So far, the list here is doing OK. Everyone's providing a source for their information, although we may need to tighten it up based on WP:RS and WP:V. If it starts getting out of hand, then we should move it. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 21:25, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. Ray and jub (talk) 21:39, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone ahead and removed the available games table and linked to the list article. I think the upcoming list belongs there as well, similar to List of Games for Windows titles. --Wean0r (talk) 06:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the upcoming list there as well as, following the precedent set by other "List of ____ titles" articles. --Wean0r (talk) 05:23, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I challenge somebody to make wiki pages for all of the missing games listed in Game Room (ie: Buzz Bombers, etc). Anyone up to it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SlimGoodbody (talkcontribs) 21:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I took the liberty of creating a new heading for this, since it deserves additional emphasis instead of being at the end of a longer thread ...
Your challenge has been accepted ... already got six under my belt since I started following the Game Room articles: Demons to Diamonds, Basketball, Football, Armor Battle, Sea Battle and Oink!. And I'm ready to do more. Good idea Slim, and something for everyone to help on! Create the new articles, or beef up the old ones with more sources, images, what-not. I know the ones I listed above need images, so please help out if you can! :) --McDoobAU93 (talk) 21:32, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Baseball is now up and running, no pun intended. I think it needs some help, since I'm trying to describe how the game works without really getting into all of baseball's various nuances. I was surprised how deep the game was for its day, personally. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 05:24, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A related corollary to this challenge ... making sure the games that already have articles link back here, as well. In my opinion, this should be part of a "Ports" or "Re-releases" section, instead of being in the infobox, which really is meant for the games' original releases (per discussion on WikiProject Video Games' talk page). --McDoobAU93 (talk) 23:46, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change Redirect

[edit]

"Game Room (video game)" should not redirect to this article. This article is not about a single game. Also, there is a game by Webfoot Technologies called "Game Room". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.221.205 (talk) 16:08, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dead?

[edit]

This game has received zero updates/news or any new features for well over two years now. Can we conclude this game is no longer in development? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.174.58.36 (talk) 17:35, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, such a conclusion would rely on original thought. Pending something definitive from Microsoft saying "we're not supporting it anymore", we shouldn't make that statement ourselves. --McDoobAU93 18:21, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"... was ..."? The game is still on Microsoft Xbox Marketplace

[edit]

I have not seen it pulled, so people should be still able to download it and run/play it. If so, then the phrasing in the article is not accurate. 93.185.26.147 (talk) 06:21, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
