Amiga longplay

[edit]

The following was removed as 'link-spam':

I have added it back in and renamed it to depict what it actually is - a video of the game being played through in its entirety, hence a walkthrough, which is directly related to and useful for this article. Burns flipper 07:43, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Flight of the Amazon Queen box art.jpg

[edit]

Image:Flight of the Amazon Queen box art.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Free software?

[edit]

I don't think this game is "free software" because the source code doesn't seem to be available and the license prohibit to sell the software (see reference #2 or readme.txt). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.66.66.98 (talk) 06:12, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In a way it is open source, as the people who made it helped the people of ScummVM to implement an interpreter for the game.
ScummVM is open sourced. Karjam, AKA KarjamP (talk) 07:42, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Strictly speaking, it's neither opensource nor free software. Like the previous contributor, I haven't found any trace of the source code, the license : http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/f/flight-of-the-amazon-queen/flight-of-the-amazon-queen_1.0.0-6/flight-of-the-amazon-queen.copyright forbids to sell the game as an individual item in section 3), the section 2) is unclear (what is a "reasonable fee" ?), and considering the section 3), the status of reselling of parts of the software independently are unclear to me. The license of this game just looks like a "light" CC-BY-NC.
All of these points make the game incompatible with the definition of opensource given by the OSI and the definition of free software given by the FSF. This game would clearly not be accepted in a FSF-approved distro or in the main repository of Debian, for example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.150.82.186 (talk) 19:48, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The section titled "Releases" inclues the following statement: "In March 2016, MojoTouch, working with John Passfield, the designer of the original game, released the 20th Anniversary Edition on the App Store (iOS),[8] Google Play[9] and Amazon Appstore."

We have three direct commercial links for two sentences. It seems they are not so relevant to be included in the WP article. Anyone can easily find them without needing of a direct link nor to use WP as a bookshop.

The realated web pages have a minimal quantity of informations useful for the article and are mainly oriented to sell some product. This is not compliant with the normale use of Wikipedia. I think they have to be deleted at all.Micheledisaveriosp (talk) 18:06, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, and implemented. Thanks for notifying. Kind regards, Grueslayer 18:51, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
