December 2022

@Ryanwarriorzz: The only editor here who is acting in bad faith (your words) is you. The source is not about the MAK, it's about those who are accused of belonging to certain terrorist organizations (such as the MAK). M.Bitton (talk) 22:40, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Answer

[edit]

So it’s also about the MAK we agree on that ? Great then Ryanwarriorzz (talk) 15:24, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pretending not to understand what the issue is won't change the facts. See my previous comment for more info and stop edit warring. M.Bitton (talk) 15:32, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

July 2023

[edit]

@Whatever748: there isn't a shred of evidence that Ferhat Mehenni was stripped of his nationality. For starters, there is no law that would allow the government to strip an Algerian (born as such) of his nationality. Second, the law that was used to sentence the MAK members (including Mehenni) applies only to Algerians. M.Bitton (talk) 10:55, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@M.Bitton "there isn't a shred of evidence is an outlandish claims. The fact that his nationality was either taken away, or forfeited by himself is pretty much a confirmed fact. He outright confirmed it himself on March 6 2021 during and address on his little facebook page or whatever.[2] The man literally went to the Zionist entity and declared friendship between them and Kabylia, and has declared himself non-Algerian several times. The taking of his nationality has even been confirmed by echourouk.[3] However, it is correct that there hasn't been wide reporting on his nationality outside of claims made by Mehenni himself. Some news sources even reported that it wasn't the government that took away his Algerian nationality but it was himself who renounced it before claiming political asylum in France.[4] Whatever748 (talk) 13:12, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That is all true, but nonetheless, irrelevant to the claim that he was stripped of his nationality. M.Bitton (talk) 13:21, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton uhhh, what? You are not making sense here. How is him confirming himself that he is no longer an Algerian citizen and news sources confirming that he was either stripped of his nationality or he possibly forfeited it himself irrelevant to that? Whatever748 (talk) 13:39, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are no reliable sources (none whatsoever) that confirm the claim that he was stripped of his nationality. There is a massive difference between forfeiting a nationality (anyone can do it) and being stripped of it (only the concerned country can decide of such a thing). As for his claims: one of them is that he is not a political refugee (even though, that's exactly what he is). M.Bitton (talk) 13:47, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton as previously stated, you are not making sense here. The discussion here is whether to display his nationality as Algerian considering that he is a separatist. To this i mentioned that several sources confirmed that he is not a citizen, including the man himself, and that he may have forfeited the nationality or got stripped of it. Whether he forfeited it or got stripped of it doesn't matter, what matters is that when it comes to the article itself we probably shouldn't display his nationality. Whatever748 (talk) 22:10, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will also repeat that there isn't a single reliable source that confirms the baseless claim that he was stripped of his nationality. Until proven otherwise (using reliable sources), he remains an Algerian national who has been sentenced using a law that only applies to Algerians. BTW, none of the sources that you supplied (all unreliable) says that he either renounced his citizenship or has been released from it. M.Bitton (talk) 22:15, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@M.Bitton Reading through sources on the matter brings conflicting opinions, some claim that he is at danger of losing it and becoming a stateless individual, while others claim that he already lost it or forfeited it, including himself. As for the Algerian government, it has not yet made claims about whether his nationality was actually taken on or not. I suppose it's not worth arguing over until there is actual full confirmation on this matter. Whatever748 (talk) 22:10, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
