Covers
[edit]Is there any reason why we are using the UK cover? Adam4267 (talk) 11:12, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, the UK cover was the first English language (therefore the first relevant to the article) cover to become available. The NA cover for example wasn't revealed until I think last week. As a side note it's also the most widespread cover, being used in the Middle East and Scandinavia as well as the UK and Ireland. Miremare 17:35, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
ummm Because it's an UK game? made by Canadian Company? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.185.226.202 (talk) 09:33, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
Try because football was created in the UK and is most popular in the UK — Preceding unsigned comment added by Linzoid (talk • contribs) 08:33, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
Button Use
[edit]There should be diagrams of the different controllers ie. PS3, XBOX and WII showing the reader which (if not already chosen) which buttons are of easier use — Preceding unsigned comment added by Himynameishaf (talk • contribs) 18:38, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Mention of PES 2012
[edit]Is there any reason why Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is mentioned as a "read also"? I understand that it's the most dire competition FIFA faces, but I see no point in making it a suggestion for further reading. If rivalry's the reason, then a mention somewhere in the article with a link to PES's article should suffice - there's in my opinion no need of suggesting the reader to expressly visit the article of its competitor since it won't add much to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.64.249.52 (talk) 02:03, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Well, to all intents and purposes there are only two football games, and PES 2012 is the other one. The "see also" section isn't a command that certain other articles must be read, just a list of related articles that may be of interest to the reader, and it's not much of a stretch to imagine that someone reading about one football game might be interested in the other one. That FIFA and PES are "competitors" is a reason that they should be linked, not a reason that they shouldn't. Miremare 17:56, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Leagues and International Teams mentioned not in the game
[edit]Wales, the Welsh Premier League and the NASL will not be in FIFA12 and the source cited mentions nothing of these teams. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.223.159.113 (talk) 22:36, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Galatasaray and RoW section
[edit]Galatasaray is not newly included into the Rest of World section, it has been there before, with its last appearance before the Turkish Super Lig in FIFA07 being in FIFA 2005. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.46.87.199 (talk) 14:45, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Nani on the cover
[edit]Why does the reference of Nani being featured on the portuguese cover keep getting deleted? Edit: The "we can't mention them all" is just stupid in my opinion. We SHOULD mention all covers possible.
It's annoying to see your accurate information being deleted for no good reason. ~~Sonicadv27~~
- Non-English covers aren't really that relevant unless there's something particularly noteworthy to say about them. The section already states that many countries have their own covers with different players on them; if we "mentioned" the details of every one, the section would become an interminable list of people and countries rather than a paragraph of readable prose relevant to the average reader. That FIFA uses lots of different covers is unusual for a video game and worth mentioning, but detailing them all is really beyond the scope of the article. Remember also that there are different language versions of each Wikipedia article linked down the left of the page where country-specific cover info can be added. Miremare 17:30, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- But people who can only read English will not be able to read these. Remember this is English wikipedia. I don't think the paragraph would become non-readable if it mentioned different covers, it is interesting and relevant information. Remember WP:NOTPAPER. Adam4267 (talk) 17:37, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's not paper, but it's still an encyclopedia, and a broad overview of the subject is what we're meant to be doing, in prose whenever possible, rather than listing all possible details - see a bit later in that same policy. That this is the English Wikipedia is why these are of questionable relevance, as well as being trivia and unmanagable to write up without simply listing them. We could write about individual non-English covers if there's a something noteworthy to say about them and its sourceable - but the video game guidelines don't even allow for including a non-English title of a game unless it was originally released with that title, let alone going into details of the cover art from multiple countries. Miremare 23:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
just because your a man united fan, all you care about is man utd and man utd players, but who cares about the cover in portugal, you would have to add in every country and every different cover version in the world, the only reason you care about portugal is because of man utd which, to me, is not a decent reason to write a load of pointless and boring information about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.20.201.105 (talk) 13:20, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Mireware. We shouldn't list all of the covers, and the Portugese cover seems insignificant to me. Jrmrbr (talk) 14:16, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- I disagree. Although this is the English Wikipedia, that doesn't mean we should ignore anything that isn't in English. We should add the info about the other covers, but definitely not in any significant detail. Perhaps a table with the different covers for each region. – PeeJay 16:03, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Band - The Medics
[edit]The band mentioned in the track listing refers to an Australian band called the Medics, while in fact it's a Dutch band, out of the city of Utrecht. You can check the website, to see for yourself, at www.themedics.nl, they don't have a Wikipedia how ever.
- You are correct, I have fixed it.

Gameplay/ Tactical Defending
[edit]I feel it is worth mentioning that the older defending style of past FIFA titles is still present in FIFA 12, or at least in the demo. By changing the settings from "tactical" to "legacy" defending. Therefore, the old defending style has not been removed, just discouraged. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DannyMinsh92 (talk • contribs) 09:11, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Haven't played the demo yet. Is this the "defensive press" thing where holding a button causes an AI controlled player to home in on the opponent with the ball? Miremare 22:44, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, the defending players home in when using legacy defending. I'm not sure if this feature will be available when playing online modes of the final game, but it will certainly be usable offline. DannyMinsh92 (talk) 09:37, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Romily Broad from EA Sports has confirmed on twitter that Legacy defending cannot be used in online modes. So, it may be worth mentioning that the 'home in' style of defending can still be used offline only. DannyMinsh92 (talk) 14:19, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, amended that part of the article. Miremare 15:26, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Playstation Vita version? Release date?
[edit]We cannot assume the Playstation Vita version of FIFA 12 will be released at the same time as the other versions, because the Playstation Vita isn't even out yet. Perhaps we should separate it and list it to be released in 2012 when the Vita is coming out to avoid confusion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.110.100.4 (talk) 02:25, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- I think the launch dates apply primarily to the 360/PS3/PC versions, so the others may or may not vary, but it's a launch title for the PS Vita, at least in Japan. Added a reference for that. Miremare 15:26, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
club covers
[edit]you are able to download and print off club specific covers for free from the ea website. these teams are arsenal, aston villa, chelsea, derby, fulham, leeds, man city, newcastle there may be more but i am not sure. http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-astonvilla http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-arsenal http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-chelsea http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-mancity http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-newcastle http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-derby http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-leeds http://www.ea.com/uk/football/1/fifa12-club-pack-fulham
might be worth mentioning in the covers section — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.20.201.105 (talk) 13:35, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Barcelona
[edit]Is it worth mention how Barcelona was irrealy favoured in this game, and how people are reacting? For example, I play with Manutd and every adversary choose Barcelona, only motivatesdby exagerated atlethes attributes in the game. I hope EA fix this. Barcelona doens't have a defense better Chelsea and Manutd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.79.130.251 (talk) 16:37, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
The strongest team by season end is always favoured. In this case Barcelona because they lifted the Champions League. In fifa11, it was Inter Milan and ALL Spanish players due to their exploits at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.190.3.122 (talk) 12:28, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Leagues gone?
[edit]If the Czech and Turkish leagues have been taken out pf FIFA 12 why is their no mention of this? They were in FIFA 11 some people like me have no idea why they are gone now. If the casual gamer does not read all of the details here, then buys the game they could be highly disappointed with the game. If someone could find a good source and adds a sentence or two about the situation this problem could be prevented. (Weather130 (talk) 17:19, 26 November 2011 (UTC))
Ekstraklasa
[edit]Article states that the T-Mobile Ekstraklasa is a licensed league in the game. It is not. There is the "Polska Liga", complete with obscure generic logos and slightly modified club names. The only thing true to the Ekstraklasa is the team rosters. It was massively disappointing to me, a lifelong Ekstraklasa fan, especially since EA hasn't released any reason or explanation for this. 65.186.89.58 (talk) 06:29, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Good loan players for career-manager mode
[edit]I'm into loaning up youngsters here a some good ones: G.Cunningham-LB-Manchester City I.Miquel-CB-Arsenal-If you are short of strikers he is a good alternative. FIFA 12
[edit]FIFA 12 is an online game for PS3, PS2 and Xbox360. Its a fun game because you can do all kinds of game modes such as Ultimate Team, Online Ultimate Team, Ultimate Team tournaments, Be a Pro: player, Be a Pro: keeper and so much more i would highly recommend it to any gaming or soccer fan! — Preceding unsigned comment added by WellPLayed78 (talk • contribs) 10:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Ultimate Team
[edit]in the game there are all kinds of game modes and one of the best ones is Ultimate Team. Because of its amazing, fun and realistic gaming. I could play it all day. But one of the things i noticed on the web- http://www.ea.com/uk/football/fifa-ultimate-team that on the trading part Cristiano Ronaldo costs more coins than Messi (i don't know how to spell Messi's last name). But any way it has been to me one of the best features of the game!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by WellPLayed78 (talk • contribs) 04:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
