[edit]I merged Enix with Enix America Corporation to create a similar format to that of Square Co., Ltd. because they are now related companies. The other article had not been edited in quite some time and needed to be wikified anyway. I've included the corporate information and any games I left out from it and integrated it into this article.

Regarding Square Enix Webstar Network Technology
[edit]The original article states:
"In 2001, Enix and Square formed Square Enix Webstar Network Technology, a 60%-owned joint subsidiary alongside Mauritius Webstar Inc., established to promote online and mobile gaming in China." [1]
Whoever put this in the article probably misinterpreted the PDF file. The original company was formed solely between Enix and Webstar in 2001, with no Square involvement at all. When Enix absorbed Square in Japan, its subsidiary in China of course changed its title into Square Enix Webstar Network Technology, but there was no Square involvement before the merger in 2003. --Yottamol (talk) 21:25, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Pronunciation
[edit]I hate to ask, but is there a reliably sourced way to tell how it's pronounced? I've been playing Final Fantasy games for years and STILL don't know whether it's "eh-nix" or "ee-nix". Tezero (talk) 20:20, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think so. But the phonetic pronunciation of the name as indicated in Japanese would suggest eh-nix. The article claims that the name is loosely derived from the term phoenix. Although it's probably worth noting that the received English pronunciation of phoenix may not reflect how the word is actually pronounced in its parent language. 75.63.209.97 (talk) 22:10, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
- not just "phoenix" but also ENIAC, which would seem to reinforce the "ee-nix" version as correct. I don't think ENIAC could really be subject to a different pronunciation in other languages or cultures, as it's a proper name made up specifically for it. 2601:40C:8300:8A10:FC0A:F04B:4675:63B8 (talk) 12:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
