Coach Timor-Leste
[edit]Who's the new coach for Timor-Leste?? It's been 2 years the coach of Timor-Leste never change. If it changed, i wanted the coach to ousiders from different county.Andy4190 (talk)
- Don't forget, the last time Timor-Leste played a game was in October 2008. The next time they may need to play again will be latter this year, so they will probably name a new coach in about October. Druryfire (talk) 11:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:East Timor FA.gif
[edit]Image:East Timor FA.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:47, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Shirt badge
[edit]When was the badge changed? The photos (last from 2010) are showing the old one like on German article or at the headquarter. Greetings, --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 06:12, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, Andy, but isn't your reference your own blog? This wouldn't be a real reference. And if not: Did you take the image of the badge from there (same size)? This would be a copyright violation, if it is NOT your blog... . --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 21:35, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
As far as I know the badge hasn't change yet. Andy made it up without consulting FFTL. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tlfutebol (talk • contribs) 17:09, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- So, still this badge in the article? --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 11:10, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
Player's Place of Birth
[edit]Just notice that place of birth of East Timorese players that born from 1975 to 1999 are in East Timor. But shouldn't it be in Indonesia? Because Indonesia occupied East Timor from 7 December 1975 until 1999. - 27christian11 (talk) 11:01, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Occupation was not accepted by international community. But anyhow, East Timor existed as province in Indonesia in this time, so it doesn't matter, if East Timor is written as birth place, not mention the status. --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 16:29, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Timor-Leste Crocs
[edit]Does anybody knows, what team is the Timor-Leste Crocs? [1] That is not the national team, is it? --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 16:00, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- OK, I see now, this is not football (soccer). --J. Patrick Fischer (talk) 22:05, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Marcel Franke
[edit]Marcel Franke from SpVgg Greuther Fürth called up for east Timor team? From where is this information? Please give evidence! No one in Fürth knows about that. Franke is German, born in Dresden and always stayed in Germany and played for german clubs. Where is a relationship to East Timor?ManfredV (talk) 13:45, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
"recent call up list"
[edit]Sorry, but I think the "call up list" is a fake. Both "called up" german players don't know about their call up and also neither their clubs nor serious sports media in Germany know about it. The source of this "call ups" is a bad quality png foto or scan of an(alleged) list with an (alleged)letterhead of Timor-Leste football association; and it doesn't seem to be from a private homepage and not an official one. Is there an official homepage of FFTL? Is there an officisl AFC list of nominated players from Timor-Leste? Are there reliable sources?ManfredV (talk) 20:41, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
According to FIFA-rules both "called up" german players can't play for Timor-Leste. I guess many others on this list can't do, too. As I know, meanwhile Palestine protested against the brazilian players. ManfredV (talk) 11:56, 28 November 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Fenix Down
A citation/reference is provide for every single player on the list of Brazilians using a Timorese passport.

- Timor-Leste national football team → East Timor national football team
- Timor-Leste women's national football team → East Timor women's national football team
- Timor-Leste national futsal team → East Timor national futsal team
- Timor-Leste women's national under-17 football team → East Timor women's national under-17 football team
- Timor-Leste women's national under-19 football team → East Timor women's national under-19 football team
– Following on from the discussion at WT:FOOTY back in June, these articles should be moved to match the parent article which is at East Timor. – Ianblair23 (talk) 07:58, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. Matthew hk (talk) 08:04, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, Yes it does not match the main article East Timor, however, FIFA use Timor-Leste. Matthew hk (talk) 08:02, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- And see also the Talk:East Timor#Requested move 29 September 2018, i suggested you need full evidence of football related news article, to show East Timor is way more common than Timor-Leste. Matthew hk (talk) 08:06, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - for now. Not seeing a clear policy agyment nor anything at all in the form of sourcing to support this. Proposer needs to show common name. The country is so named here because in English language sources it is referred to often. I would assume the football teams, being very minor on the global scale simply don't receive sufficient significant coverage to clearly show an English language name is used more often than their official name. Until that is presented there is no case to move. Fenix down (talk) 08:17, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Matthew hk, Fenix down, GiantSnowman please see evidence from BBC, Reuters New York Times SBS, Manila Times, Football Tribe that shows East Timor being used. There is of course other sources which use Timor Leste but main argument is still that we go against FIFA in many cases and that this should match the parent article. Cheers – Ianblair23 (talk) 11:53, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - to reflect official name used by FIFA. GiantSnowman 08:46, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- It should be noted that we go against FIFA's official name in the case of China (China PR), South Korea (Korea Republic), North Korea (Korea DPR), Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) Brunei (Brunei Darussalam) and Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic). All of the team names match the parent article. The English name of the country is East Timor, the name of the article in WP:EN is East Timor. The general rule is everything should match what the parent article name is. It should be also noted that the overview article is named Football in East Timor. – Ianblair23 (talk) 11:05, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom and WP:OFFICIALNAMES. This is not FIFApedia. — AjaxSmack 02:07, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, name used by FIFA, and similar to Chinese Taipei. Also we do not necessarily follow the parent article on the country (i.e. Palestine national football team vs State of Palestine). S.A. Julio (talk) 02:30, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose According to a search of English-language news results about their recent home and away against Brunei DS, the common name appears to be Timor-Leste. [3] SportingFlyer T·C 02:51, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
- Support. WP:CONSISTENCY with the country article and WP:COMMONNAME. What FIFA call it is neither here not there. — Amakuru (talk) 12:55, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Support per WP:COMMONNAME - the common name in English – like Ivory Coast – is the English, not the French. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stevie fae Scotland (talk • contribs) 09:10, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose this is based on an WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument. I think the article for the country is incorrect and should be Timor-Leste. East Timor is the geographic location of the nation Timor-Leste, similar to the way that Great Britain is the location (for the most part) of the United Kingdom. Jack N. Stock (talk) 17:45, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
