Kreis - district or county?
[edit]Hi Manfred, actually we use both on Wikipedia as per the guidelines and in fact the British Embassy and liaison services in Germany use "county" for Kreis. It is a better term because it is more specific than "district" which is used to translate several different German words e.g. Kreis, Landkreis, Amt, Bezirk, Distrikt, Stadtteil, etc. so "district" becomes a bit meaningless. --Bermicourt (talk) 12:21, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
District is correct according to EU use, NUTS and used by german authorities in official translations of documents ManfredV (talk) 16:40, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- And the EU guidelines also refer back to.... Wikipedia, which is not supposed to be an authority. So the situation is a bit of a mess. Anyway, let's agree that "district" is not wrong; neither is "county". Both appear in the sources. --Bermicourt (talk) 17:47, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Fürth
[edit]Hello Manfred, I think we should keep Beiersdorfer, because he was born in Fürth and was a player and now is a manager and he has an article in enwiki. Regards--Buchbibliothek (talk) 18:54, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
