Rename from DUST to Dust
[edit]Wikipedia manual of style standards in this case clearly dictate that the page name should be "Dust" not "DUST". Wikipedia doesn't honor how a company wants to name themselves, we follow proper grammar. Unless DUST is an actual acronym like CCP is it is properly rendered in Wikipedia as Dust. Just like CCP uses "EVE Online" Wikipedia uses "Eve Online". Therefore I've moved all the content of these pages to Dust 514 and Talk:Dust 514 and made DUST 514 and Talk:DUST 514 redirects. — raeky (talk | edits) 00:56, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Just a small point for the future, it might turn out that DUST is in fact an acronym... 213.143.18.224 (talk) 09:40, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- If so then we can move the page back, but until then we must follow MoS standards. — raeky (talk | edits) 09:49, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
New info
[edit]With fan fest going on, Eurogamer has some more tidbits on how Gameplay will operate:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/dust-514-preview
- Dust will interact with EVE, but neither game needs the other in order to work.
- Vehicles will be available to all players, anywhere
- Vehicles will be customizable
- There will be a commander who will have an RTS style perspective on a match
- A form of player housing will be available
- The game will be without classes. Players will decide their character's specializations through specific choices

Should the CCP youtube page be linked

Fanfest 2011
[edit]There well be "DUST 514 Presentations and Information" on CCP organized Fanfest 2011 in 24-26 March - http://fanfest.eveonline.com/en/news --20:48 11 February 2011 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.228.205.217 (talk) 19:51, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Any Info?
[edit]Since it has been nearly 2 years since the last post I just wanted to ask two things. 1) Does anyone have any (verfified) information on when Dust is coming out. and 2) Could we just have a recap on everything we know so far about Dust 514. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.174.154.95 (talk) 15:59, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- For that, I recommend you go on a gaming forum or some such. Encyclopedias don't cater well for personal requests of information. If it's not here, we don't know, and this talk space isn't supposed to be for private conversations. Falastur2 Talk 17:40, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately CCP is famous for keeping everything close to their chest until the last minute. it is likely that next to no new data will come out any time soon, most seems to be released from Fanfest and the rest will probably start releasing a few months before the game.Ryukage19 (talk) 12:04, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
new info added
[edit]I've added the Fanfest 2011 section and updated the known release consoles and the releases date.
unfortunately the official release date is 'SOONTM'
i added the edits before i created my account so i can not verify i actually added the section exept by my word --Ryukage19 (talk) 11:51, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Images, logos and other such stuff
[edit]I've been in contact with the community manager for DUST 514, and he as said that a fankit is currently in the works and should be out soon. I'll also see if I can get him to supply a screenshot we can use on the page. Da chucky (talk) 14:25, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Rumour of Playstation 3 Exclusivity
[edit]According to TheSixthAxis (link: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/06/05/dust-514-leak-suggests-ps3-exclusivity/) among other gaming news websites, there's a possibility that Dust 514 may be exclusive (on consoles, at least) to the Playstation 3. Neither CCP nor Sony have confirmed this yet and as such, I suggest the field showing which consoles this'll be available on should be left as Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 until this is confirmed as fact. Closeratio (talk) 17:10, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- It's been confirmed. Though someone has beaten me to updating the page. Da chucky (talk) 02:58, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Double checked the edit and fixed some parts that were overlooked during said edit. This includes citing the ps3 exclusive conformation the best i can.Ryukage19 (talk) 18:05, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
one long string of updates later....
[edit]just finished adding a whole slew of micro updates to help clean the article and hopefully clear some things up. most were updating small oversights when someone added the ps3 exclusive update.Ryukage19 (talk) 18:12, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Screenshots for DUST 514
[edit]If you still need screenshots, you can find a bunch from here - http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/presskit/DUST_514_Screenshots.zip It's CCP's press kit, and it has 5 screenshots. Only reason I'm not adding them yet is I'm "new" to this, plus I really can't think of where to put them right now. I blame lack of sleep, but that's just me. Also, a higher resolution image of the logo is available here:

Release Date - Spring or Summer?
[edit]A new, yet short, video showing gameplay scenes from DUST 514 have been released.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4_nTczFajY
The presenter and the video graphics, transitioning in from the bottom right, state that DUST 514 will be "Coming This Spring" (at 0:05). Wikipedia states that DUST 514 is instead going to be released in the Summer, was that speculation/a rough guess on when it was going to be released or did one of the developers/people associated with the game actually say that? Can this video also be used as a reference for evidence of a Spring 2012 release, or isn't the evidence good enough to be considered a reference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jinzor (talk • contribs) 16:46, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
Dust is free to download and play - (also) Some tidbits on Dust 514
[edit]I added the "Dust is free to download and play" following the link...which also has this weird pink color on its link but it works none the less.
There is also some other stuff revealed in the Eurogamer article, but I was unsure if it was relevant as most information already out like the Warbarge ect. does not seem to need to be on here.
But... If you are going to add to it here are some Note Worthy Points:
1. There was going to be a $10 to $20 cover charge for the game on PSN (which was planned to be convertible to in-game Aurum credits), but that has now been scrapped.
2. Dust 514 Aurum credits can be bought in currency bundles that range from $10 up to $100
3. There will be hundreds upon hundreds of micro-transaction items (eventually).
4. There will be "thousands of different maps and they're all available to everyone who's playing".
Hope that helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.244.41.169 (talk) 02:29, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Templar One
[edit]Has anyone read the novel Templar One? It's an EVE Online novel and is supposed to explain a lot of backstory like the Empyrean age novel. We could use a section on the plot/backstroy of Dust 514 Merlinsorca 21:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Release Dates
[edit]Release dates for this game are hard to come by, with a multi-staged release (First closed beta, then open, then final release) - and with no news coming out of CCP on the subject, it would be safer to not name a date. It is important to note that gaming news sites are not authoritative on the subject. 207.164.200.130 (talk) 19:28, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- IGN is considered a reliable source, as such, I'm reverting your removal. -- ferret (talk) 19:29, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Additional note: If there's no news of the beta opening by tomorrow, then it would be appropriate. As we're still within the timeframe specified, the source isn't invalid yet. -- ferret (talk) 19:31, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- The source is invalid because the sole source of information regarding EVE and DUST has always been CCP. CCP has yet to name a date for the open beta, IGN does not cite a source and is _incorrect_ in this respect. It is also important to note that they've already begun this week's "testing cycle" it does not make any sense to open the beta today. I maintain that there will be no beta opening today, as we are already past end-of-day UTC. 207.164.200.130 (talk) 19:36, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
THe source isn't invalid for the reasons you state. Secondily, having looked at it further, the source doesn't even mention open beta release date. Looks like someone removed the original release date of "TBA 2012", which IGN is the source for, and replaced it with an open beta date, while leaving the IGN source. I've removed the date and put back the "TBA 2012", which is perfectly valid. -- ferret (talk) 21:04, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Wrong Metacritic score?
[edit]The aggregate on Metacritic is probably wrong. The sum of all 6 reviews is 376. Then the true aggregate is 376/6= 62. But the metascore is 59? How's that possible? KahnJohn27 (talk) 12:51, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- I think this should explain things. Some critics' reviews get more weight than others, meaning they all affect the score differently and we can't calculate the actual average ourselves. Merlinsorca 02:58, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yes I've understood that. The Metascore is not wrong. It's just that some reviewing websites are given more weight since they give a much better and a much more professional review. KahnJohn27 (talk) 04:21, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
F2P / P2W
[edit]I removed a line in the F2P information: "That was violated after implement of boosters and better weapons and item for paying customers."
This is in dispute since all equipment available for AUR has equivalents available for ISK. The only difference is that AUR equipment needs less skillpoints to use, it doesn't offer any other advantage of normal ISK equipment. This is effectively the equivalent of XP boosters in F2P MMO's which is usually not equated to pay to win.ChromeBallz (talk) 10:26, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Updates section?
[edit]I think an "Updates" sub-section should be created under the "Development" section. Recently the game has been updated to Uprising 1.4 which adds many features to the game and is the most major update of the game after it's release. KahnJohn27 (talk) 12:14, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
Updates? Last updates seem to be at least 2 years old.
[edit]Someone needs to add new information. The article mentions 2013 as in the future... 14.53.186.162 (talk) 22:23, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- It was released in 2013. There just hasn't really been any new information since then. If you have some sources of relevant events we could possibly work them in. The most recent content in the article is a March 2015 quote from CCP that the game was profitable for them. 22:51, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
I updated the article and converted several usages of the present/future tense to the past tense. I updated the "Future developments" section with cited information regarding Project Nova. Baltakatei (talk) 18:51, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
Sentence removed
[edit]I removed the sentence: "Coupled with restricting the game to only one gaming console, being plagued with numerous bugs and ignoring the loyal player base CCP doomed Dust 514 before it was released."
It reads way too much like a pointed review or sensational news article.
