Game Engine

[edit]

Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of de Blob? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 15:12, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- is it TOSHI? - 210.18.211.154 (talk) 03:35, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

iPhone release

[edit]

Apple's store reports it was released July 08, 2008 but the article states differently. In addition, how do you cite the product page in iTunes?76.28.156.79 (talk) 20:24, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I found a source for the release. 76.28.156.79 (talk) 20:28, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Development

[edit]

I think this wiki page is wrong. This project was originally created using ogre engine, for pc and was available for free. I remember I was working on a project with the same engine (www.ogre3d.org) when they was working on de blob.

Check this: http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20744

Some times later concpet was sold to THQ as you can read here:

"The concept for De Blob has now been sold to THQ and their studios Blue Tongue and Helixe are currently working on new versions of De Blob for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. These will be released in September 2008."

A demo is available there: http://www.utrecht.nl/images/OGU/pos/Downloads/TheBlob_EN.zip (english)

And there: http://www.utrecht.nl/images/OGU/pos/Downloads/DeBlob_NL.zip (dutch)

Hi A.F. This is correct, and I think this is mentioned in the Development section. :) Dreaded Walrus t c 16:58, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder whether there should be some sort of link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizball, which has a very similar concept. I don't know whether de Blob was knowingly derivative, but if it's not it's a large coincidence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.63.130.33 (talk) 05:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Helixe shut down?

[edit]

According to the Helixe page they've been shut down since November 2008, and De Blob has been canceled for the Nintendo DS. If anyone can confirm this I really believe the page should be edited to reflect that there isn't a DS version coming out (due to Helixe being no more). I myself haven't had any luck finding something that I could use as a reference (Helixe page lacks any). 203.220.212.205 (talk) 03:41, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay/art - 46.173.12.68 (talk) 07:16, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

[edit]

Well, this concerns the PC edition as brand mockery might be gone from the commercial ports. Gameplay-wise, even INKT's toxic black color is considered "alive" - as in, any cars that are scripted to zip around will start doing so when painted black, just like with other colors Also, the white billboards are "wanted" posters, whereas others are parodies of different brands - Black mocks the Matrix, yellow mocks McDonald's, purple mocks Star Wars...

Lowercase title?

[edit]

Is the title supposed to be in lowercase (i.e. de Blob, not De Blob)? The boxart and a number of official reviews (along with some parts of the article) make it seem like such, but the lead states otherwise. Geolodus (talk) 09:24, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
