The current state of the game
[edit]In understand that this page now not only concerns a highly contentious subject, but there are more unanswered questions than ever about the state of the game. I saw that C.Fred reverted edits by 162.196.141.163 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), which were to say that the game has been outright cancelled. Now, prior to the latest post by Soulbound's CEO, Jeromy Walsh, I would have erred on the side of calling it cancelled. However, he claims that the game is merely in a state of indefinite hiatus. Fazart made a constructive edit that says the game's on hiatus, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's an "in-development" title. I believe that for the sake of neutrality, we should keep the page in its current form, which states that it's a game on indefinite hiatus, with a closed studio. Perhaps we can revisit this topic a little way down the line, when we see how the litigation lands and if there's more to Walsh's claim about it having a future than tacit bluster. Note
[edit]I agree with removing in-development due to the redundancy of also listing in-hiatus. I was actually wrestling with that one for a bit. + Insert Pretty Signature Here + 06:02, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Halkyr here, with recent information as well as some partially invalid wording in the article, I took the liberty to add some content to the article, and change some words that reflect the current state better. If you have any sources (preferrably third party) to reference for them that would be appreciated. ~In tenebris nos, 12/22/20
Regarding the current state of the video game covered by this article
[edit]I have noticed that the article lead refers to this game in the past tense, which suggests that it is no longer in development, or was cancelled. I am aware that the state of development of Chronicles of Elyria is at best disputed, but it seems to be contradictory that the lead gives the impression that the game has been cancelled, but then states that Jeromy Walsh has stated that the project had resumed.
It is not Wikipedia's job to weigh into disputes, so I am reluctant to make any changes without at least some consensus. It would seem, purely from my relatively casual browsing of articles relating to the game's development, that the game is still in some degree of development. Updates on this development are few and far between, and there are some media articles that consider the game "dead", but that in and of itself does not mean that the game is truly "dead", as it may just be in a particularly slow period of development.
I personally believe that the game should at least be given the benefit of the doubt and assumed to be still in development, unless Soulbound Studios or a reliable third party source with definite information states that the game has truly ceased development. As I previously stated, I do not wish to make any changes without any consensus due to the rather contentious situation of the game's development, so please do provide some opinions on this matter.

- The game is in development, although it is almost certain that any game even closely resembling what was originally promised to Kickstarter backers will never be released. It is "in development" because Jeromy Walsh continues to post updates on the game's website. The game will never be released because he has completely ran out of money and talent to make a game with all of the complex features he originally promised, and he will never receive money from any publisher or Kickstarting campaign after years of mismanaged spending of the original crowdfunding money.
- It is clear that Jeromy Walsh continues to "develop" Chronicles of Elyria either as a personal project or to prevent himself from getting into legal trouble for fraud. IVotedForBobDoleIn1996 (talk) 07:54, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
Edits to introductory paragraph on 12/1/22
[edit]I have edited the first paragraph to reflect a significant minority opinion that the game is technically still being developed. I have also provided a small amount of information to better introduce the reader to the controversy surrounding this game. Please edit as needed or provided opinions. Thanks. ~IVotedForBobDoleIn1996
Attempting to create an Article relevant to this page. 12/3/22
[edit]I was surprised that a page about crowdfunding scams like this one did not exist. I am attempting to create it. This will be my first Wikipedia article. I have submitted a draft for review. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Crowdfunding_Scam Thanks. ~IVotedForBobDoleIn1996 — Preceding unsigned comment added by IVotedForBobDoleIn1996 (talk • contribs) 08:44, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
