The Charlie Sheen Effect
Sheen’s HIV positive disclosure corresponded with the greatest number of HIV-related Google searches ever recorded in the United States. During the 3 weeks following his disclosure there were about 2.75 million more searches than expected included the term HIV, and 1.25 million searches were directly relevant to public health outcomes because they included search terms for condoms, HIV symptoms, or HIV testing (e.g., "get HIV tested").[1] A later study found Sheen's disclosure corresponded with a 95% increase in over-the-counter at-home HIV testing kits.[2] The study's authors dubbed it "The Charlie Sheen Effect" with commenters noting "Charlie Sheen did more for HIV education than most UN events do."[3] Sheen spoke out for HIV prevention citing the studies as motivation,</ref>"Charlie Sheen Talks Condoms for LELO HEX". Sheen claims to be Jewish
Maybe the article should mention that according to him his mother and therefore himself are Jewish, and he considers himself Jewish as well http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/charlie-sheen-i-m-proud-164398 --90.156.104.160 (talk) 22:00, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

"derogarory comments" in intro
I think that Lorre clarified later that the reason for pulling Sheen out of 2 1/2 men was because Sheen seemed to have misunderstood the role, had started acting as if addiction/promiscuity is an admirable way of life. Damage was occurring to Sheen (obviously) and Lorre worried if his program was going to mislead or cause damage to kids who watch it. That there was an issue of Sheen confusing his character's belief that alcoholism etc leads to a nice life with Sheen taking this on board in a way that would end up being hurtful. Problem is, in describing it like this (here on the talk page) I'm sort of re-wording what Lorre said in interviews and in his vanity cards. There had been some speculation that Sheen had said something anti-semitic but this was not true, it was later realized that Sheen had just randomly quoted from an earlier vanity card about how Lorre had changed his own name/identity.
The one line in the intro about this saying Sheen was pulled from the program subsequent to making derogatory remarks makes it sound like there had been a personality conflict between Sheen and Lorre. There had been this impression, later proved mistaken. Someone ought to somehow change that one line I think so it isn't misleadingly tendentious.Createangelos (talk) 12:14, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

How did Sheen get HIV?
It is sort of weird - the article mentions Sheen has HIV but makes no mention of how he caught it, or how he thinks he caught it - no mention at all. How did Sheen catch HIV? Substance abuse, legal issues and health - improper term used
HIV is described as an acronym. It is an abbreviation, as acronyms by definition are pronounceable as their own words. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.42.5.114 (talk) 22:44, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

For the "Other ventures Section": It would be relevant if the information was added about Charlie Sheen's streaming web show "Sheen's Korner," launched March 5, 2011. Tagline "You're either in Sheen's Korner or you're with the trolls." [1]
This article should also mention Sheen's venture as a published poet. His book "A Piece of My Mind" with illustrations by Adam Rifkin was self-published in 1990. [2] HolyPablo (talk) 18:10, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Incorrect use of English word
The sentence in question is: "Sheen has been publicly scathing against former President Donald Trump." The word "scathing" is an adjective, not a verb, and a noun must accompany it for the sentence to be correct. The sentence should be rewritten in a way that still reflects the authors intent of meaning, BUT must either use a noun with the word "scathing" or select a different word. Using English incorrectly confuses readers and causes harm to subject. 184.155.184.186 (talk) 13:10, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

In the section "Substance abuse, legal issues and health", the sentence "On November 17, 2015, Sheen publicly revealed that he was HIV positive, having been diagnosed roughly four years earlier.notttt[5]" contains "notttt" at the end and seems to be a typo/error.
