Hair Colour Changed
[edit]His hair is actually dark brown. Once you beat F-Zero GX and watch the final cut-scenes, in one, he removes his helmet and sets it down. You see him from behind, masking his face but his hair is clearly visible. Lastspartan 13:01, 04 December 2005
Blah, blah, blah. It's been ages since I've last seen that cut scene. Lord Falcon
Appearances in games
[edit]F-Zero: He wasn't the main character more than anyone else; none of the racers had much of a backstory. F-Zero 2: AFAIK he wasn't in this at all. Unless he drove Blue Thunder there? Unlikely. F-Zero X: Again, how is he the main character any more than any of the other 29?
I guess I don't understand the section the way it is worded. 132.162.213.109 15:58, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Lord Falcon 01:47, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- That doesn't help much. Do you have any reference that he drove Blue Thunder? He never changes cars in any of the other games. 132.162.213.109 01:19, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Falcon drove the Blue Thunder, not because if that was someone else that piloted it they would still be around and not just in two games. But because if Falcon is not in F-Zero 2, then he's not in the F-Zero X Expansion Kit. I doubt it's a coincedence that the "Blue Thunder" (F-Zero 2) & "Super Falcon" (X: E. Kit) have similair names to the "Blue Falcon". Not to mention these games are similair, since their both add-ons. It seems to me, when there are "expansions" or "add-ons" to a game, Falcon drives a different machine. Lord Falcon 02:04, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Super Smash Bros. Melee
[edit]Several things. First, Captain Falcon is definitely a "heavy-weight," being the sixth heaviest character in the game (weigh him against everybody else on the Mushroom Kingdom scales. He's lighter than Bowser, DK, Samus, Ganondorf and Yoshi, and the same weight as Link), not to mention he falls faster than anybody than Falco, giving him extra resistance to upward-sending attacks. So he's not a middle-weight, kapiche?
Also: I deleted "well-balanced" for a few reasons. It's a kind of silly thing to say about a character (considering Nintendo calls practically everyone besides the Ice Climbers and Bowser "balanced"). More importantly, a very fast, heavy, comboing and powerful character that is also highly susceptible to enemy combos, edge-guarding and enemy projectiles isn't a character I'd call "balanced" in the first place. Actually, there are very few things about Captain Falcon that are average, and he's certainly not universally strong or weak. MaskedSheik 00:20, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I wouldn't exactly put the Falconner in the same weight class as Bowser or DK. I mean if he is heavy, then should I assume you’re putting Bowser under another weight class? Falcon weights the same as Link, runs faster, but is more aerodynamic. Samus weights 198lbs, 6oz, so around the low 190s should be a good estimate for Falcon. Now is that really heavy? Isn’t Falcon more of a medium-heavy weight, if Bowser is considered “heavy”? Then again, looking at cast that has 2 mice, midget plumbers/doctor, 2 balloons, 2 young boys, etc…
Falcon could be called “heavy”, but where would that leave Bowser?. Lord Falcon 21:14, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Picture Change
[edit]Someone needs to change that picture because that certainly is not Captain Falcon up there.
Yes I agree, they should have a "report" button to report incidents like these. Mista Tee001 21:54, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
There, I think I fixed it. :) Mista Tee001 21:57, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Delisted this article from GA status
[edit]The fact that this article passed GA is so ridiculous I'm not laughing. It does not, not even by a long shot, meet GA criteria. I removed this immediately because its failure compared to the demands of the GA criteria doesn't justify keeping it a GA to wait for someone to fix this up. For my reasons why I delisted this, see it's sad featured article candidacy at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates —ExplorerCDT 09:25, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not that it's necessary, but I support this delisting, to show that this editor is not alone. --PresN 14:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Failed GA nomination
[edit]I don't think Captain Falcon is ready to be a Good Article yet. My main concerns were the fact that it is written from an in-universe perspective, which goes against the Wikipedia policy on how to write about fiction. It also violates a few MOS things, such as WP:WTA. – Dok(talk|contribs) 18:38, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Blue Falcon
[edit]In mission 2 of the story mode of F-Zero GX, Captain Falcon uses his racer to chase a bounty, according to the mission description of that story mode chapter. One would assume that the criminals he hunts down will sometimes shoot at him, therefore the Blue Falcon HAS to be well-armored. Otherwise he couldn't use his racer for bounty hunting!--66.188.230.197 20:04, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well it wasn't well-armored enough to prevent him from landing in the hospital before F-Zero X. Anyway, fan speculation. FMF|contact 20:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Failed "GA" nomination
[edit]This article has well and truly failed its GA nomination. I know this sounds harsh, but I’ve tried to compensate for my nastiness with a lot of suggestions on how to improve it. Please, please, PLEASE before you go to GAC again, get it copyedited. Ask at WP:VG, or ask me, just get someone neutral to go over it and remove the crap in it, because it has a lot at the moment.
Anyway, I didn’t use {{FGAN}} here as there are just too many issues that the template can’t take. Instead, here are my comments under each heading.
- Well written (MoS, prose, etc.)
First lead paragraph seems (to me) not to really summarise the MOST important parts of the article. I mean, video game appearances are relevant, but since the first article section is related to the character’s creation, the lead should start with that.
- Its basically a copy-paste of Links', but its a character from a racing game (which translates into "not much to put there") so I'm not exactly sure how to lengthen it. Should the third paragraph under "Characteristics" be moved there or under "Blue Falcon"?
- Yes, move 3rd of characteristics under Blue Falcon. As for the lead, I basically think you should switch the paragraphs around, so that they are in the same order as the sections of the article.
The second paragraph of the lead uses the words “F-Zero” 3 times - this must be reworded (especially considering there are only 4 sentences).I think you should discuss video game appearances in a third paragraph of the lead, keeping consistent with the sections.
- At least the multiple instances of "F-Zero" was removed. If Link has two, I doubt this article need three paragraphs.
- Link's could be expanded IMO.
This character and the other three in the 1990 F-Zero game would be the start of a growing list of F-Zero characters in the later installments. - Who cares? This isn’t about F-Zero, it’s purely about CF, so you don’t need this. Also (I noticed this when copy pasting the above statement) this article could do with a spellcheck!
- Fansboys care - all three of them! Otherwise, good luck finding information purely about CF.
- All three of them can GTFO :P Information about CF and other F-Zero charries is fine, info only about other F-Zero charries isn't.
Character creation section doesn’t really discuss CF himself, instead talks about the creation of F-Zero characters on the whole. That’s not what the article is about!
- Imamura, etc, never discussed this (and if he or someone else did, its probably located 100 or so issues back as some "side note" in Nintendo Power). I'm not going through a garbage dump to find out :P.
- NEVER discussed the creation of CF at all? Go check that dump, but leave it as is if there's nothing.
The entire Characteristics section seems to be: 1) crufty, and 2) poorly written (eg. It jumps from him being called “Captain” to his racing machine without any linking). It could be trimmed down a lot, or split into subsections. Or both.
- Somewhat fixed the jump. I asked someone to reword the information located on the "All Game Guide" site, so much for that. Would you care to fix it or should it just be handled by the LoCE?
- LOCE are slow, I'll take a look when I can. But put a request there anyway, for the (distant) future.
In the first F-Zero game, Captain Falcon was "rumored to be in his early 30s",[3] then was 36 in F-Zero X[4] and 37 in F-Zero GX.[5] - This should definitely be reworded, it doesn’t read well at all at the moment (and the refs don’t help; they are a bit to common for my liking. If it was me I’d just use ref #4 as it seems to cover all of this itself, and I’d put it at the end of the sentence.
- Moved ages to where they apply.
F-Zero Climax stated his date of birth[6] and even his blood type.[6] - Double reffing, just have the one at the end of the sentence.
- Fixed.
However, these characteristics are considered only to be applicable to this game, if not all the Game Boy Advance games since they are reboot continuities due to the many differences in regard to storyline when compared to the home console F-Zero titles. - The sentence starts as if it’s describing a specific game (god knows which one), but finishes discussing console F-Zero games on the whole. I think. Reword, please :)
- Another vehicle called the Falcon Flyer is Captain Falcon's speedy mid-sized star cruiser that boasts an on-board computer that allows Falcon to control it remotely. This is probably the reason why it has never appeared on-screen in an F-Zero game. The only time it appeared in the series was on one the last pages of the SNES F-Zero instruction manual. - Delete all of that crap, please. 1) It’s worded terribly, read it aloud if you disagree. 2) “This is probably…” speculation, that’s what it probably is! 3) I don’t care about instruction manuals, that’s not generally the most notable, important information about CF, is it? 4) You use the word “that” twice in the first sentence. “That” is not a word that should be used more then once in several sentences (again, read it aloud).
- Good or should it all just be deleted?
- I improved it a bit more, but yes, good.
- The rest of the paragraph waffles on the same way, with unrelated ideas slammed together
- Good or as suggested earlier by me, you or LoCE?
- Suggested people on your talk page, or I will at some stage.
I’m sorry if I’m sounding like a hard assed bastard here (but I am, in some regards), but I’ve seen a lot worse in GA reviews. Trust me, it’s the best way to improve! I’d be more then happy to give that section a rewrite if you like (although I’d ending up killing most of it). Anyway, on with the review.
It’d be nice if you actually spoke a bit more about his role in each of the video games, rather then just listing them. Especially since you describe his SSB character with so much depth (too much, I’d say, as it’s already noted in the SSB article anyway).
- Following the same format as Link but most of what is mentioned about him in the games would fall under characteristics, which is already there. Maybe the F-Zero GX part can be lengthened a bit since it actually has a "story" mode. Yeah the SSB section is really the only area people care about (just wait, if he is in SSBB the article will need semi-protection after that announcement)
- You can request protection if necessary (it should include him). Just be sure you expand on F-Zero GX, yes.
- Also playable in the game, as a secret unlockable character is Ganondorf. Ganondorf is a clone character whose attacks are very similar to those of Captain Falcon,[15] but are stronger, though he is not as agile. - If we cared about this, we’d either read Ganondorf or Super Smash Bros. Melee. For an analogy, Mario in SSB is somewhat similar to Pikachu (yes, I play it too much), yet they aren’t cross-analysed in their respective articles. Remove the entire quoted section.
- Why would it be on the SSBM page? I do not remember how many clone characters there are, but the fact that he is one of them is not worth mentioning? Still no? Not even just one sentence?
- One sentence at most, not an analysis of the similarities.
The entire cameo section should be marked with {{trivia}} in its current state. That’s how Nintendo do things (there are probably articles devoted to this); they include cameos in all their games. It’s not new, it’s not special, it’s not specific to CF, and it sure as hell isn’t notable.
- Its basically a copy-paste of Links'. Its deleted, but Links' is "notable"? The score is CF - 0 Link - 2
- Oops, just noticed the Link article section on that. Slap me, you were right. Un-delete the info.
*The F-Zero GP Legend TV series Captain Falcon, voiced by David Wills in the English version and Hideyuki Tanaka in the Japanese version, was featured in this fifty-one episode anime, - Really have no idea what’s being said here, although I expect some usage of punctuation will help me out a little :)
- Done? CF - 0 Link - 3
- Yes, good.
- Accuracy (Verifiable, reliable sources, etc.)
The character's first appearance took place in the instruction manual of 1990 video game F-Zero, not until a later release has the character actually appeared in-game... - I really find this difficult to believe, as (as far as I know anyway) CF is the lead character of the F-Zero series (isn’t that what the preceding sentence says?). A ref here is vital for people who have some knowledge (or at least think they do) about video games, like me!
- Its is once again, a copy-paste from Link. Wait a sec, Link does not even have a single source there! It maybe difficult for you (the sad truth did hurt for me), but keep in mind there racing games from the 1990s, the characters never need to actually show themselves in-game. CF - 0 Link - 4
- Cite the instruction manual using cite book. Giggy: 100000000, TMR: 0 :P
Ref needed for actor portrayal section, and it could also be expanded.
- Expanded..........? Sorry I was stuttering. I really doubt it, I cannot even find more information of the creation of this character. Actor portrayal maybe true but no source = no deal.
- Don't expand if you can't, but I'm sure the actor mentioned their role as CF SOMEWHERE?!?
*His hair color is usually dark brown, but was depicted as a lighter brown in the anime. Also, the characters' eyes were shown in the anime as brown. - In case you weren’t aware, you are allowed to cite anime. So do it!
- In case you weren’t aware of the failure that was F-Zero GP Legend, I can't!! Though it is true, the videos and pictures are available online. Maybe using cite video or replacing that image under "other media" with one w/o his helmet would suffice?
- Cite video is good, as is replacing the image. Remember the FURG when you do though.
*is the lightest out of the four original machines, and is rated C for boost and B for body and grip - 1) Pointless cruft. 2) Who said it is/was rated that?
- Who cares! Its pointless cruft!
- Thoroughness
- Too much information in many areas, a very crufty article.
Paragraph two of the Blue Falcon section should all be removed.
- Done.
*...the part is a substantial departure from Horikawa's voice talent. - Kinda biased without a source. “Voice talent” is a bit too subjective.
- Darn that Link article always having a source cause its so popular...
- I'm sorry about that...but no one will compromise based on popularity :P
- Brash and flashy in appearance, Captain Falcon stands tall and firm - Well so do I, in my opinion :P
Really?? Go you have golden nipples too??That was actually sourced on "All Game Guide". GameSpy did have the top 10 worst dressed vg characters, he was there and it seems the media really does think of that to be true. I'll probably find something on "Flamboyant Falcon" later.- Yes, I have golden nipples. Source the all game guide or something if you can.
*arguably the most well-rounded vehicle in the racing tour. - Arguably is a weasel word that’s just asking to be slapped. So slap it.
- Slapped
- Thanks to the efforts of its pilot, the Blue Falcon is well balanced and impeccably tuned. With relatively little training,
even a novice could pilot this machine well.- I hate to offend anyone, but who wrote this? I mean, is this one of those examples of collaboration gone wrong, where some people write some sections, other people write others, and in the end it just completely lacks cohesion. Sorry to offend anyone, but it’s a REALLY.GOOD.IDEA to read the article completely to yourself, and make any relevant changes, before going to GAC (saves me the trouble of reading it all :P).
- Adjusted that part, but I had no plans to submit this for GAC nor did I.
- Oh, ok...I forget who submitted it then, but it was there! That's how I found it.
Fine for stability and images (good to see video game articles obeying WP:FURG for a change!) - .
- Other notes
- IGN references should not be cited to IGN Staff - last time I looked, most (if not all) IGN pages contain an author’s name. Go find it, and reference that. Just for the record, also, here’s how you should use {{cite web}} for IGN (and almost everything else):
<ref>{{cite web|url=http://xxx.ign.com/articles/###/####p#.html|title=Captain Falcon - Man or Monkey?|publisher=[[IGN]]| first=John|last=Smith|accessdate=2007-08-01}}</ref> It’s used in a variety of ways in the article, and we all love streamlining, hence the note here.
- Cite web streamlining is partially done. Deleted IGN staffs and if you can find at least one author on those IGN pages and show me where, I'll change the rest.
- Will take a look at IGN, but it's ok the way it is now.
- {{F-Zero characters}} seems pointless to me; four characters, a link to the game, and a link to a character list doesn’t really seem overly helpful. I’m not about to go to TfD with it, but I think it could be expanded to include more characters, or more relevant information of other kinds. Better yet, just make a generic F-Zero series template (like the SSB series template below) which includes four characters and the games.
- Yes and even by some miracle the list passes FLC in the distant future, the template is still useless though it did use to have "By game" like the Zelda characters template. Do as you wish, its F-Zero related, so no one but me really cares.
- Do as you wish then, I don't really care :P
*I’ve seen debate at WP:VG about the image used in the infobox; and consensus is generally that you need to use the MOST recognisable image. I’m not sure what the case is with CF, and from a semi-outsider’s view the image being used looks OK (but then, it’s almost identical to what I remember the SSB image as, so I have a bias opinion). You may wish to consult some other people though.
- Really? Maybe someone should add that as a footnote here. What other image? There are none!
- If there's no other image, it's fine. And if I can find the discussion I'll add a note.
- Here we go again....
- See your talk page too.
Thus ends the longest (by far) GA review I’ve ever done. I hate to fail articles in this, because I remember when it took a month to get a review, let alone make changes and re-submit, but I really can’t put an article like this on hold. There’s just too much to be done, and the worst thing is that I’m pretty sure there are more “bad things” then what I’ve pointed out here. If I read it again I’d have a list a good deal longer. It seems cruel, but blanking the article and starting from scratch (keeping the more solid information, and the refs, though) would be a good idea for this article. That takes more then seven days, so I just can’t see the article being up to GA standard if I was to put it on hold.
When you have made the changes required, and you have copyedited thoroughly, and you have looked at other GA articles of similar kinds (as well as FA, like Link (The Legend of Zelda)), you’re more then welcome to take it back to GAC. If you like, I can review it again, or I can take a look at it before you get someone else too. If you are unhappy with my decision here, please leave a note at GAR, or on my talk page. Thanks, and good luck with the article! Giggy UCP 22:14, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
F-Zero GX (from 'appearances' section)
[edit]In F-Zero GX, Captain Falcon is 37 years old and the champion of the F-Zero Grand Prix.[1] At the beginning of the game, Captain Falcon chases a bounty which turned out to be an ambush by Samurai Goroh and his group of bandits. He then stops by a club to relax, but Silver Neelsen successfully got him to enter and win a "BET" race under the disguise "Famicom". The Federation fails to help stop Black Shadow's rampage and now Captain Falcon must rescue Jody Summer. After escaping Black Shadow's trap, Falcon enters and wins another F-Zero Grand Prix title which resulted in Black Shadow being banished by Deathborn. Issued a challenge by Deathborn, Captain Falcon beats him in the underworld to stop his efforts of combining the light and dark forces condensed in his own F-Zero championship belt and Deathborn's underworld belt to take over the universe then turning it into complete darkness and turmoil.[1][2]
I have removed this section from the main page as it is almost impossible to copy edit to a decent standard. Can somebody who knows the game rewrite it and put it back in? --carelesshx talk 22:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Blood Hawk symbol in Super Smash Bros. Brawl
[edit]In Brawl, changing Cpt. Falcon's colors to match Blood Hawk's (darker purplish colors) also changes the symbol on his back from some sort of falcon-symbol (I can't really describe it) into a skull with wings and the words "Blood Hawk" written underneath. Anyone with Brawl can verify this if they want to. I didn't want to make the change myself, though, because I thought I better put it here first. -Guest —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.89.45 (talk) 00:29, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Douglas Jay Falcon?
[edit]The article says that his full name is Douglas Jay Falcon, but there is no source given for this information. Where did the name Douglas come from? Because I can say with absolute certainty that it is not mentioned in any F-Zero game or accompanying manual.--108.181.107.189 (talk) 19:47, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm wondering this myself actually. After seeing that citation request I started searching around and I haven't found one official source that has mentioned a "Douglas Jay Falcon" anywhere. The name is on the official Smash Bros. Miiverse page, but the text written in those profiles were done by third-parties. Is there any other source people can find? I remember seeing the name in a Melee or Brawl trophy, but I've checked them and they don't mention the name at all. I'm thinking of removing the name altogether. Toasty (talk) 23:49, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- Just for what it's worth, the website you linked to with the profile is not an official site. It's a fan site (says so front and center), so anything said there isn't official. This name is pretty commonly disseminated as his name, but it seems to just be fan-canon and not in any official Nintendo media. --128.61.105.76 (talk) 04:05, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Not to be rude but that's exactly what I said, it was a third-party source. Anyway it's shocking for me since I've heard the name for years, but without a proper source there's no way to prove its existence. I'll remove the name now. Toasty (talk) 05:04, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Just so anybody knows, the name Douglas Jay Falcon comes from the defunct official website of F-Zero X by Nintendo from way back in the day. There's a in-depth video by a fellow who deals with this kind of stuff: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0iRUhjBE7KU KGRAMR. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KGRAMR (talk • contribs) 23:48, 5 November 2017 (UTC)
Advertisment re:swimming pool

Suggestion: Slogans
[edit]I know it might seem pointless, but should we list his slogans like "Falcon Punch", "Falcon Kick", etc etc or no? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanner Ghosen (talk • contribs) 14:37, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
