Advertising tone
[edit]@Melcous: May you please explain how this article is written like a promo puff piece? Thanks. George Ho (talk) 12:50, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- The whole section on the menu reads like what would be on their own website about what they serve, not what belongs in an encyclopedia. It's interesting to compare this for example to those listed at The World's 50 Best Restaurants, none of which have such detailed, gushing descriptions of what they sell. Melcous (talk) 13:23, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Melcous: You can read articles seen in Category:Defunct restaurants and its subcategories. Well, Hibiscus (restaurant), one about defunct restaurant, has a Menu section. So do Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's and Angela Hartnett at The Connaught, both about defunct restaurants. George Ho (talk) 18:24, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- @George Ho:, comparing to other articles can be unhelpful (WP:OSE) so I'd emphasise it is the tone, length and style that was probematic here. But even on those other three articles you have pointed to, the menu sections are much briefer and contain more neutral commentary about the menu, rather than the detailed list of menu items, with excessive quotes, that was found here. Graywalls has cut that right back now anyway. If you think there is specific content about the mennu (rather than just listing what was on the menu) that should be restored, then please note that here and we can discuss and seek consensus. - No objections to removal, honestly. Now any more advertising tone remaining? George Ho (talk) 22:52, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- The way it was presented, it was impossible to make sense out of it and it looked almost like a raw code. Graywalls (talk) 22:50, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
