[edit]The essential characteristic of broadcasting, and hence of broadcast engineering, is that transmittions are aimed at anyone who chooses to receive them; not at some particular receiver(s). 82.38.97.206mikeL
Transmitters
[edit]Knowledge section lists subareas of broadcasting. I searched for transmitters planning in vain. Naturally, they must be within RF subsection. But they are not. Certainly, maintenance or satellite are different areas. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 14:33, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Licensing
[edit]You need a license to operate a broadcast radio or television transmitter, don't you? I have been looking for information on this and have been unable to find it. Shouldn't this be in the article? --ChetvornoTALK 09:30, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- That varies from country to country. In the UK, broadcasting organisations need a licence, but individual engineers do not. Harumphy (talk) 10:31, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20070505004655/http://mhp-interactive.org:80/tutorial/dtv-intro/dtv-transmission.shtml to http://mhp-interactive.org/tutorial/dtv-intro/dtv-transmission.shtml
