This article is written by cross-over radio listeners
If the article begins with ... most notable for their song "Tha crossroads" I can really see the guys who are Trying to write this are likely cross -over listeners. I've been trying to tell the things like they are.... Bone where obscure in their beinings, still, most people don't understand all the slang to actually figure out the true meaning of their Lyrics. They changed very much for their 1997 release, and not only lyrically but instrumentally as they got a little away from the G-funk... Whatever, I'm just tired of trying to make the article look less like: Bone is "Tha crossroads", tha crossroads is bone, I even don't have that track!... and for what?... I got plenty of thuggish thang from these guys to listen to... To mainstream Bone is tha crossroads, 1st of tha month and some featuring with a R&B act, WHile for the streets, Bone is pure thuggish thang, with very serious lyrics sometimes, sometimes they are even religious, others they are just too violent (specially in their firsts releases and Krayzie' first)... whatever, Just try to make the article less pop-kiddie like. - C Trillos
Naming
Shouldn't this be moved to the more proper page Bone Thugs-N-Harmony? - gren 04:57, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I have to run, but it should be noted that this article has been moved around several times today by 65.187.238.19 (talk · contribs), in each case via copy/paste. I attempted to make this user happy by doing a proper move to the current title ("Bone Thugs-N-Harmony") as s/he insisted on it, but right after doing this the user undid the move and copy/pasted the content to "Bone Thugs-n-Harmony". This user has created several broken redirects and at least one duplicate article. I don't know which title is correct, so I hope someone who does know can sort this mess out. -- Hadal 05:26, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Their official website (http://www.bonethugsnharmony.com/) uses both Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. At least it seems like the versions without the "-" characters are incorrect. - Teklund 07:32, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Bizzy Bone
This part of the artcle isn't correct "In late 2002, Bizzy Bone departed from the group after giving a drunken performance with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at BB King's Blues Club in New York City. In October 2003, he rejoined the group for the Wicked Wonka Tour with the Insane Clown Posse and soon recorded Bone Brothers, a duet album with Layzie Bone. Things quickly turned sour, though, as Bizzy declined to tour in support of the album and refused to sign a record contract with the rest of the group to Swizz Beatz' Full Surface Records. After this and a number of other incidents, the group once again cut ties with Bizzy in May of 2005."
- Bizzy didn't depart from the group in 2002, Bone alleged he was 'kicked out', but it was problems with him not being paid for the album they just released "Thug World Order", Ruthless was back to not paying him like he should be paid, so he bailed. Who wouldn't? in January of 2003 they then sent him papers officially and contractually kicking him from the group
- The reason he didn't promote "Bone Brothers" is because Koch Records wasn't totally honest about payment, and spent most of his money due on studio time and album mastering.
- He didn't refuse to sign with Swizz Beatz, he wanted to be officially contractually signed as a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member again. Bone didn't want to do that, so he didn't record. - gren 04:57, 14 Oct 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the input. I've made some changes to the paragraph to try to remove the POV. "Bizzy departed from the group" has been changed to "the group officially departed ways with Bizzy" and "refused to sign a contract" has been changed to "contract negotiations between Bone and Bizzy with Swizz Beatz' Full Surface Records broke down." I still think the part about the Bone Brothers tour should stay. Regardless of Bizzy's reasons for not going on the tour, the fact remains that he did not go on tour and that was his choice. I'm sure he has a billion excuses like he did for not showing up for tours for 6 straight years before him and Bone "parted ways", but that doesn't change the fact that the tour and Bizzy were not one. --Kahz 17:06, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
What about the brothers?
Whoever made these last edits (sometime around New Years'?) did a good job. The page is more informative and has a better flow now. However, I don't see why you took out the info regarding the origins of the group and the relationships between the members (ie. a few of them are brothers, right?) This was all good information.
- Thanks for the compliments. As for what I removed, I had to take out a big chunk of text because it was directly plagiarized from the All Music Guide and I don't remember if the part about the relationships between the members was in there. I'll check the edit history to see if I can find the part you are talking about and put it back up if it wasn't plagiarized. --Kahz 04:23, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- i still think this page could be better, especially a better bone picture with all five despite the fact flesh is'nt a member.also the solo bio's could be more indepth aswell.BTW KHAZ this is dragonsamurai from btnhboard.com keep up the good work.

Thug Luv
In the section for E. 1999 Eternal, it breifly brings up the song "Thug Luv." I believe this song is one of the most known songs from Bone because of its delivery and featuring Tupac. This song is iconic and whenever bringing up Bone thugs with Any stranger the first songs brought up are Thug Luv and Crossroads. I think someone should add to the part where Thug Luv is discussed. I know its my opinion but i feel its true.
Also I read an article somwhere that the song was first originally recorded with just Bizzy Bone, Tupac and a female rapper. Then later on the song was re-recorded to include Krayzie Bone, Wish, and Layzie and recycling Tupacs verse. It sounds a little trivial but i came across a very low quality mp3 that has a what sounds like an early version of the beat that we know today, missing certain sounds, bassline slightly different. The song starts off with an uknown verse by Bizzy then goes into Tupacs verse (exactly the same from Thug Luv), then a verse from a woman, then right after that its Bizzy again doing his verse from the known Thug Luv but not the same recording that we know. The phrasing is different at parts and ends with him repeating Cleave-a-land-land for the rest of the bar.
Anyway, i have this theory that Bizzy and Tupac and that woman rapper i dont recognize recorded the song before Tupac died. When tupac died, they remade the song and put Tupacs vocals on the track and added the rest of the group.
I dont remember where i read the that the song was originally recorded with just Bizzy Bone, it was a long time ago, but i have the mp3 file i was talking about. Someone should look into this and come up with proof. My Email is TruAmbitionz@aim.com if someone wants the song, or has questions.
I've seen pictures of 2Pac and all of Bone in the studio spitting their verses..wish I still knew where to find them but they were all there at the same time. Maybe 2Pac redid his own verse or added adlibs for the released version of the song but he definitely wasn't already dead. PCP MC 15:32, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Also the fact that Tupac references Bone as a collective at least 2 times in the song leads me to strongly disagree with the theory that it was just Bizzy and some female rapper originally on the song. Tupac says, "Bone Thugs N Harmony-I know you niggaz been waitin for this a long time..." and then again on his verse, "My nigga Bone had the chrome..." and a third time he references them as a plural when he says he caught a plane to Cleveland to help his niggaZ...he references them in the plural, but yet nowhere does Tupac references just Bizzy(as would be the case if this song were recorded with only those artists) and this female artists gets no mention by Tupac in either the intro to the song or within the song itself.
It's possible someone got ahold of works-in-progress, both the instrumental and Bizzy's verse, and mixed it all together with some unused vocals from a female artist and touted it as the "original". It just doesn't add up to me to say that the track we got was not how it was intended in context to the vocals Tupac put down.--Killphil 09:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm curious as to what sources the sales for each album are coming from. If someone could link a source to the sales, it would be nice. (I'm not trying to dispute the figures though)
Trivia
I sorted out a lot of stuff from that section because it was too long, it looked more of a list than a paragraph filled with text, so now it became more perspicuous. A lot of them belongs to their own articles (singles', members', Bone-Thugs Biography...) thus needs to be merged there. Some of them were useless and unverifiable. What left is still unverified, but some of them is really interesting to know, if they are true. The rest is fair info though not vital to be familiar with them so still fits the trivia criteria.Lajbi Holla @ meWho's the boss? 16:54, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Needs a lot of Revision and Editing
Most of the Trivia needs citation and cannot be there without any, so i'd say it's beter of removed for the quality of this page.
Second thing is that some of the text is off-margin and needs correcting. Also, some information needs to be edited or removed to improve the quality of Wikipedia. I'd like a little help on doing some of these adjustments so feel free to revise and clean up.--ThanosMadTitan23 04:21, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

YouTube links
This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed or you would like to help spread this message contact us on this page. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 05:52, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Seperate discography?
Seeing as the article needs a little bit of clean-up, I think it would be best if a regular editor (or even me) seperated all discography related information from the article and put it into its own article, eg. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony discography.
I just figured I'd discuss it here first, seeing as I'm not really a regular editor of this page, and didn't want to make any big changes or anything.
PS. I archived the talk page because it was pretty huge. - Nö†$®åM 23:29, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- I think a separate discography article is a good idea. Lots of other musicians have pages like that, and it helps keep the main article tidy. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:39, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep. Actually, upon second glance, alot of the content (basically everything under Sales) could be seperated into seperate articles. The bottom of the article just looks really bloated to me. - Nö†$®åM 00:31, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
New Album
Okay, there have been a couple of times that I've changed the release date of the new album to April 17th. That's because that's the day it's coming out: http://www.bonethugsnharmony.com/ But somebody seems to be convinced that it's coming out on May 8th. Explanations please? Until then... I'm changing it back to what their official website says. 67.70.163.187 00:22, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
The album has been pushed back to may,but for whatever reason their website haven't updated it yet.
Interscope's website is now listing it under the May 8th date, thus I updated with the reference. You go to the site (Interscope.com) and look toward the bottom of the page on the left hand side and you'll see it. Mizery Made 15:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Bone Thugs IN Harmony
I think it's important to point out that the n in Bone Thugs-n-Harmony means IN, not AND. The distinction is important, and a lot of people don't make it. Krayzie says it in the chorus of "If I Could Teach the World":
If I could teach the world (whole wide world)
To be a thug in harmony (harmony)
Then I would teach the world (whole wide world)
To be a thugsta just like me (like me)
And Bizzy sorta says it in "Demons Surround Me"
Mormons may mourn, may Messiahs be born, torn in the purgatory
Sworn to violence, silence, word my bond
Get ya story on, call me, saw me in the army gatherin in harmony
Hardly in all we be so salty
Oh, and first post... --Rankispanki 05:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
No, it's Bone Thugs AND Harmony. You're taking their words out of context. Easy E originally wanted to call the group Thugs And Harmony but they wanted to keep the Bone in the name, so I doubt they'd have changed the capitals meaning aswell as. However, to each his own, I don't think it's really too important as Harmony is the main thing about the group, and not the abbreviated word in between. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.202.115.100 (talk) 02:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Some of the words used to describe the fan base are a little biased, I think. Under "Legacy and Contributions" it says "Although 1996 was the peak of their popular appeal, Bone still has a fairly large cult following. Furthermore, their notoriety, respect, and popularity is especially high in the eyes of their obsessive and often delusional fan base". Perhaps the fans should not be called obsessive and delusional?
No they shouldn't. Especially as Bone are highly respected in the industry by both critics and fans alike 172.202.115.100 02:16, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Joe

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Name of band
I noticed that User:Mel Etitis moved this article from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, citing "naming conventions". I disagree with the move, because it seems that all reliable sources, including the sources from which the article is written, capitalize the 'N'. I think the move should at least be discussed, so I'm leaving a note with Mel. What do people think: upper-case or lower-case 'N'? -GTBacchus(talk) 18:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Our Manual of Style, which gives the policy that governs our use of capitalization, says (in common with most manuals of style) that conjunctions and the abbreviations of conjunctions should not be capitalized. There's no such thing as reliable sources in this case, because capitalization and other typographical issues are decided by us ("The Wizard of Oz" might be "The Wizard Of Oz" in some publications, "The wizard of Oz" in others, etc.; it doesn't matter how L. Frank Baum or his publishers spelled it). --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:32, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Disagree. (1) I don't think Manual of Style should be applied to trademarks and personal names. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is both a personal name and (AFAIK) a trademark. I think a band is one who desides. Unusual spelling is usually intentional and have certain artistic meaning. (2) Anyway, Manual of Style does not mention "N" at all. "N" might stand for "in" or "and", but typographicaly it is neither. (3) No one tries to move Guns N' Roses article to "Guns and Roses" or "Guns n Roses". What's so different with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony? (4) Please move article back to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Netrat_msk (talk) 01:32, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- If there're no objections, I'm going to change the name of the band to proper spelling, with capital N. If you disagree with this, be sure to post counter-evidences for every of four points I've posted, especially Guns N' Roses comparison. Netrat_msk (talk) 10:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Good point (I've changed quite a few articles, etc., but it's a huge job). It can be done as a speedy rename, as it's a matter of bringing the name into line with naming conventions — I'll do it when I get a minute. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:16, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the name is usually printed on the disc covers as "Bone thugs-n-harmony". Though it's mostly printed elsewhere as "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony". On their website it's printed both of these ways (artwork the first way, and text the second). So I think it should really be one of these two. -Laconic1 15:34, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Associated acts
Associated acts is a signigicant section that should not be deleted. By checking other rappers' pages you can tell that associated acts infobox usually lists labelmates, beatmakers and MC's with whom a subject of the article collaborates frequently. It does not list all featurings and collaborations. The situation with Bone Thugs is the same. Associated acts infobox does not list all featurings, but only steady cooperations.
Mo Thugs Family is a group of thier follower and relatives, produced and mentored by Bone Thugs.
ThugLine Records, 7 Sign Regime and Flesh-n-Bone Inc. are private labels by band members.
As for DJ Yella, I don't know what kind of collaboration did they have, I guiess we gotta ask the person who added him here.
Akon is not only featured on their single, he also produced some of thier tracks.
With Twista, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G. they had noted featurings. I agree that this does not look like a steady cooperation, and you can remove these artists from the list if you wish...
Swizz Beatz produced thier latest album.
Mariah Carey is their singer of the choice, as they had at least 4 singles togeather.
As for Eazy-E, I guess it needs no explaination...
I'm also going to add DJ U-Neek (beatmaker responsable for this trademark sound) to associated acts list. Netrat_msk (talk) 11:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I am not a regular editor, so please forgive any formatting and etiquette errors.
The following statements, made in the description of Thug World Order, cannot both be true. "The album supposedly overly-violent and political saw a drastic change in subject matter and tone for the group. The lyrics were almost completely void of any violence..."
I don't know the album, and I don't know which is a better reflection of the truth, but I know that the album cannot be both "over-violent" and "void of any violence." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.181.154 (talk) 23:35, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Layzie Bone's status with the group
My sources are Layzie Bone and his Manager Rob, of Harmony Howse Entertainment. And I know I can't use their private messages as a Source to Cite but the "News" sources used which report that Layzie had "left" the group misinterpreted his Twitter post which would be the Original Source. This is in similar fashion as when Krayzie Bone took a step aside to work on ThugLine which is now The Life Entertainment. There was indeed a point in time when Krayzie announced on Video that he did leave the group to focus on The Life Entertainment, but no where in Layzie's twitter does he say he is leaving the group. Again it was a misinterpretation by those various news sources.
To follow with those various news sources with their misinterpretation is a step back in providing truthful and clear information.
I ask that my edits be put back in as they are indeed the truth and do not take Layzie's twitter post out of context as it shouldn't have been in the first place. Levelselect (talk) 05:27, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- Has he or his manager publicly clarified this? Or have any reliable sources said that, he is still currently a member of the group? What it looks like is he is taking a break from the group to work on his solo career. So right now, he is not an active member of the group, example being him not being featured on the upcoming album, or being involved in upcoming shows. So until he returns to the group full time, he would still be a former member or a member on "hiatus".STATic message me! 06:45, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

He isn't part of that deal due to not signing a contract to Eone. That doesn't mean he's not part of the group. Eone doesn't own Bone thugs n harmony as a Unit. Latest album Art of War III has Layzie featured. No one from Bone thugs n harmony have said anything about Layzie leaving the group. While you would like Layzie to publicly state that he didn't leave the group. He never Publicly stated that he left the group in the first place; again it was all misinterpretation by those various news sources. Levelselect (talk) 03:04, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
