What about Hitler?

[edit]

The article says there will be no Nazi references like the original US version, but the ending had you fight a re-animated Hitler. Is that going to stay the same? XAlpha (talk) 17:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It will probably be Master-D again, but without a Hitler picture. 82.217.174.228 (talk) 19:57, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy?

[edit]

What's so bad about keeping the game more true to it's original Japanese version? I think the only people it'd be offensive towards are neo-Nazis themselfs. But is it that the censorship was the reason why it sold so well in America? Because it was "orriginal" with it's storyline and not just gameplay?

What are you talking about? I fail to understand the point you're trying to make. -Xeon25 (talk) 12:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Guessing it's because there are still people in this world who would throw a fit if they nazi referece was left in the game even in the later version...that or Grin didn't want to take a chance with the (non-japanese) players who don't what their game story content changed thowing hissy fits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.105.126.226 (talk) 16:22, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

[edit]

The release date hasn't been set as far as I know, although reports from various gaming-news sites (e.g. 1up, GameFAQs, IGN, Gamespot) had stated that the game would be released either: Q2 2008, or May, 2008. Obviously, most of this month has passed, so a delay is likely, but I've yet to see a firm "reschedule" anywhere on the web, including the above websites as of this edit. (Hence my call for atrribution.) Furthermore, even on the Official Bionic Commando website run by Capcom, the only information concerning the launch was that it would be released "in spring 2008." (www.bioniccommando.com/us/pages/BCR_Game_Overview)

(p.s. I'm new at editing, although I'm self education myself through the various "How to's". Please be understanding if I've stepped on anyone's toes...) Oh, and I'm gonna set up an account soon. UPDATE: 5/30/08 According to the Official BCR website, the release date is now "TBA." This was mentioned on a BCR Podcast, and is reported elsewhere as well, (such as here: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/52718) RlndGunslinger (talk) 00:17, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edited EU release date since this was not release in EU as of yet (typical).

"Over the Top Voice Acting"

[edit]

Regarding the statement about voice acting, seeing as all dialog is presented as text I don't see how that is an accurate statement. JettaMann (talk) 16:15, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could be a reference to the voice-over in the trailer (and soundtrack) which is almost like a parody of Pablo Franciscos trailer parodies. Development Art

[edit]

Shinkiro being an artist isn't a "Gameplay Enhancement". Maybe move this to Development history? stealthrabbi (talk) 20:34, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Bionic Arm Change

[edit]

Hmm..it's amazing how even in the wikipedia no one seems to notice the bionic arm changes in the remake version and the origional NES version. Is it really that unnoitceable that it does not need to be mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.105.126.226 (talk) 16:18, 21 September 2008 (UTC) test 99.185.0.29 (talk) 07:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)--[reply]

If you can find a source providing the information, feel free to add it to the article and cite it. ChimpanzeeUK - User | Talk | Contribs 09:11, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

censorship

[edit]

The game is only censored in japan, not europe, so i have edited --89.167.221.3 (talk) 17:35, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
"The song is not featured on all versions of the soundtrack"- does this mean it was not featured on any soundtrack, or was it on some, but not all?
I removed the statement. I can't find anything to support it. --Teancum (talk) 12:11, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
Mentions both praise and criticism in a neutral way. Good job.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
I'm a little concerned about the third image. The source seems kind of weak, and I think that both images before it have some demonstration of the art style. I would just advise to remove it. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 00:42, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Most definitely disagree there. Demonstration of the art style used by a well known artist in the game would seem to be an integral thing to include in the article. I can beef up the rationale, but I'm very much against removing it. In fact, so much so I'd rather it fail GAN than be removed. The other two images don't accurately portray the art style used by cutscenes. I'm not sure if you played the game or not, but it's very clear if you have. --Teancum (talk) 11:32, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree somewhat with the above statement... but I can also see the merits of having the image included in the article (namely, a more close-up view of the character art). I'll let you decide whether to remove it or not. Brambleclawx 00:50, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
Well written, good coverage of aspects of the game. Well done. In terms of further improvement, I would suggest looking for more scholarly sources (though I understand that scholars aren't likely to be writing papers on video games, so that may be difficult), and brushing up the prose a bit more.
