[edit]Something tells me the dragon magazine link is not the proper one.
CHARNAME
[edit]Let me clarify just in case: The reason for the peculiar nickname came from the modding community, since all references to the protagonist are assigned to <CHARNAME> (All caps) in the game's code. The engine is programmed to replace CHARNAME with whatever you named him in the beginning. Ephyon 17:09, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
It's really hard to understand for the average Wikipedia user, that's fucking basic computer science for a 12 years old.
Abdel Adrian...
[edit]Can we get rid of references to 'Abdel Adrian'? It's just an arbitrary name the novelists gave to their main character while penning the series. This is the only Baldur's Gate article I can find that consistently calls the protagonist 'Abdel Adrian'. There are plenty of other things he or she could be called: the main character, the player, the protagonist, charname (the other articles seemed to get on just fine).
To take it a step further, there's not much point in even listing the protagonist in this article; instead of an entry, you could get away with a simple 'apart from the protagonist...' throwaway at the top.
Calling him Abdel just because he happened to be called that in the books is only a few steps removed from my renaming him Moses Carraway just because that's what he happened to be called in MY game. Oh, yeah, blue-in-the-face blah blah WotC-official-seal-of-approval blah... bollocks. I find your tendency towards flamewaring over canon disturbing, Admiral.
What does everybody think? MachiavellianMeow (talk) 10:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
ABDEL FUCKING ADRIAN? could they have given CHARNAME a worse name?!?!
Other Bhaalspawn?
[edit]There's also a group of a kobold, a xvart and a squirel, that still pose a minor chalange in ToB. I'm not really sure, but I think it was imlied, that they are bhaalspawn, too.
Also, a note about mellisan would fit in well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.64.122.45 (talk) 10:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Not canon, should be deleted
[edit]I'm pretty sure that events of D&D based computer games are as canonical as session at your kitchen table (i.e. not at all). Unless someone can get reliable sources confirming that events of Baldur's Gate saga had any influence on pen&paper editions of D&D, this entire article is rubbish and should be deleted. - It could be merged into one of the BG articles. 24.12.74.21 (talk) 16:06, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
dePRODed
[edit]I dePRODed this from a single purpose account that has no edit history earlier than yesterday. Suggest we merge this to Bhaal. Web Warlock (talk) 12:08, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- I agree. As there was no opposition in more than a week, I'm proceeding to the merge. Note that Bhaal itself is likely to see its notability questioned sooner or later...Folken de Fanel (talk) 19:40, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
