Talk:Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur
Appearance
First Infocom game to incorporate graphics?
[edit]Was this really the first Infocom adventure game to use graphics? I have an old brochure somewhere which advertises their new graphical games, and I'm pretty sure Arthur isn't listed in it. According to the Infocom newsletters, the chronology goes something like this:
- Vol. 7 No. 2 (Summer 1988): "Change is inevitable. Don't panic! ... Now we stick our graphics where the sun does shine ... Steve is honing his skills in Double Fanucci and Peggleboz. Dave has become an expert in oriental culture. Brian is boldly going where no one has gone before. Marc, too, has embarked on a fantastic journey all his own." The article doesn't mention any titles.
- Vol. 7 No. 3 (Fall 1988): There are articles about three new games: "BattleTech: Lots of Meching around", "Zork Zero takes you back to the beginning", and "Quarterstaff: Our first role-playing fantasy".
- Vol. 8 No. 1 (Spring 1989): There are articles about three new games: "James Clavell's Shogun comes alive", "Journey: Enter a new realm of storytelling" and "Introducing Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur".
According to the planned release dates, Zork Zero would have been the first of their graphical adventure games. 62.181.255.64 14:57, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
