Kambakth Ishq
I have redirected Kambakth Ishq to this page rather than Eight By Ten, as the two aren't the same film. Seeing as it's an Akshay Kumar film, it's best off here --Maurice45 (talk) 19:08, 25 June 2008 (UTC). the height of akshay kumar is 6ft 1.5inch who is equal to kareena kappor in kambakth ishq.

Bhoga001 (talk) 10:24, 12 September 2009 (UTC) == I dont know, i've been trying to edit something and it does'nt get updated. Akshay has acted nearly 120 films. This was told by himself in an interview to Glamsham in 2007. And is'nt he a prominent actor? So why is this not getting updated??
- Calling someone prominent before even mentioning his profession is POV. Glamsham is not a reliable source, according to IMDb, his filmography is yet to reach the 90th film. Shahid • Talk2me 10:52, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Bhoga001 (talk) 20:25, 12 September 2009 (UTC) Now what wrong is it in saying 'Kumar slowly began to work his way up to evolve into one of the most talented stars in the industry' ?
small correction about vishnu vardhan
Vishnu Vardhan is virtually unknown outside of Karnataka. So calling him a 'south' superstar is definitely wrong. can someone please change this?

He is NOT a producer
If he is, then cite sources - according to IMDb, he will only produce a film in 2011, and it still did not enter principal photopgraphy, so it does not deserve a mention. He has never been officially credited as the produccer of a single film - his production company ccan be mentioned with sources, but his primary work is acting. Period.
As for the "one of the most prominent" thing - this is just another act of glorification. The source the anon cited are actually those which were here long before and which were removed by Active Banana. One source is unreliable, and the other is from 2006. It's OK to mention his popularity but no need to go OTT. Shahid • Talk2me 08:50, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

- What made the user "Shshshsh" delete Akshay's guest appearances in two MTV reality based shows. Whats is exactly your problem Mr. Shahid? If you claim that for these two shows I didn't cite sources, then in that case can you cite your source of references for Sharukh's appearances in the show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Nach Baliye, Jjhoon India and his every other television appearances. Reverting back the changes for now.-Maneesh 09:35, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- We do not list guest appearances here. Actors and stars appear as guests in numerous shows, it's not notable here. Shahid • Talk2me 12:28, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- Try to fully answer the question raised. Do not leave it half unanswered with silly and nonsense responses. Why can Sharukh Khan have his list of guest appearances and not Akshay Kumar? Just because you like him, it doesn't mean you can vandalizing other actors. I know you have contributed good enough to Wiki but do not try to monopolize every article here. Apart from that I am not enjoying doing an edit war here but I know and I believe I am only being fair and neutral in my views and have not tried to vandalize anybody here. Nationality
Can we change the nationality from "Indian actor" to "India-born Canadian actor"? He was granted Canadian citizenship. And since India doesn't allow dual citizenship, even if he is residing in India, he isn't Indian by law.

- I think there is no need to even write India-born Canadian actor. A Canadian is a Canadian. It should be "is a Canadian actor who appears in Bollywood films". 77.12.17.205 (talk) 19:03, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

- He was born as an Indian citizen before he naturalised as a Canadian. Including "Indian-born" certainly forms a part of his biography, as he was an Indian citizen when he started his career. It doesn't detract from his Canadian nationality in any way. Tiger7253 (talk) 15:11, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

"please include about akshay's photographer career, and getting his portfolio done by ace photographer of the time"
Then he assisted the ace photographer of that time Jayesh Sheth for a year and and got his first portfolio done, using his salary as a payment.[1] He also worked as a background dancer in various films.[2] One morning, he missed his flight for an ad-shoot in Bangalore. Disappointed with himself, he visited a film studio along with his portfolio. That evening, Kumar was signed for a lead role by producer Pramod Chakravarthy for the movie Deedar.[3][4][5]

- By "Canadian actor", Wikipedia doesn't mean, he is an actor who works in Canadian films. But he is a "Canadian" who is also an actor. All sources which refer to him being an Indian are "outdated" by definition. Recent sources emerging from April 2016 on-wards confirms his Canadian nationality (like this [1]). In case you missed it though http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/magazines/panache/akshay-kumar-delayed-at-heathrow-airport-over-immigration-issues/articleshow/51739596.cms --Majora (talk) 03:56, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
- I changed the infobox param from "nationality" to "citizenship", to comply with the documentation for {{infobox people}}. That documentation recommends "citizenship" in place of "nationality" when they differ AND "nationality can be inferred from other parameters such as "residency" and "birthplace", or in addition to "nationality" when they differ AND nationality cannot be inferred. "Citizenship" is an unambiguous legal term. "Nationality" is ambiguous, as it is either a synonym for "citizenship" or a description of identification with some large geopolitical group that the subject considers to be a "nation". I have no idea what Kumar would answer if he were asked his nationality. I doubt the would say "Canadian" except possibly at a customs checkpoint. In another context, he might say "Indian" or name the Indian state with which he identifies. We have similar problems with the meaning of "nationality" in articles about people from England, Scotland, and Wales. -Arch dude (talk) 18:59, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
- He might say he is Indo Candian. Or Canadian Indian.101.178.163.208 (talk) 06:54, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
Indians can have dual citizenship, its called OCI or some crap. And there are many Indians who probably dont tell the Indian government about this.101.178.163.208 (talk) 06:53, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
Nationality.
I understand that he is a Canadian citizen. But he was Indian for probably 40 years. And therefore something like this should be included: India (1967 - 2015) and Canada ( present).101.178.163.208 (talk) 06:53, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- No. There is no reason why we should include a completely separate parameter for something just because his fans are upset that he doesn't hold Indian citizenship anymore. And yes, that is true. It is illegal to be a dual citizen in Indian. By accepting Canadian citizenship he renounced his Indian citizenship. That is how that works. Arch dude, it would have been far more preferable if you actually mentioned something here before going ahead and doing that. This page has been plagued by POV pushers on his nationality for quite some time. Long enough to have an edit notice on this page. --Majora (talk) 18:52, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- If you look at this page for example, "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Abbott", it tells you that this person had two nationalities. As you can see, its not just POV. And nope, its not illegal. Its called OCI or overseas citizenship, as I stated earlier. 101.178.163.208 (talk) 06:21, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- I saw the edit notice. I also saw that the problem is the conflation of "nationality" with "citizenship" and that we have a documented method of resolving the problem, so I applied it. Do you disagree with the solution? If so, revert and we can discuss. Note that if we have a reliable source for Kumar's self-assessment of his nationality (not citizenship) then we should probably put the "nationality" parameter back in while still retaining the citizenship parameter. -Arch dude (talk) 20:15, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Since there is a question as to whether or not he hold Canadian citizenship or full Canadian nationality it probably would have been prudent to maintain the status quo before making such a change. Instead of just coming here from the help desk and unilaterally making the change when you have never maintained this article before now. It is obvious that another one of his fans went to the help desk to attempt to right great wrongs and you obliged them.
The difference between "national" and "citizen" is small and the only way to get Canadian citizenship is via four options per Canadian nationality law#Summary of acquisition of Canadian citizenship. The only method there that would apply for Kumar is via naturalization. So yeah. There is still the question here and I just think that you should have, at the very least, posted something on the talk page first before making that change to appease POV pushers who have been doing this for years. --Majora (talk) 20:26, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

- Not sure which part of the discussion to respond to, but the lead says "Akshay Kumar (born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia; 9 September 1967), is an Indian origin actor". "Indian origin actor" reads very weird to me. Any thoughts on this? Would it make sense to move the Indian content and craft a new sentence about his birthplace and Canadian passport? Ex: "Akshay Kumar ... is an actor, producer, martial artist, stuntman and television personality, who works in Bollywood films ... Kumar was born in India, but holds a Canadian passport." Also, is it odd that we're describing the passport he "holds", rather than saying he's a Canadian citizen? Is he definitively a Canadian citizen? Is there any other way to get a Canadian passport? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:58, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: 99% of the time passport signify citizenship. A rare exception example to that would be people born in the Northern Mariana Islands who have passports that read "THE BEARER IS A UNITED STATES NATIONAL AND NOT A UNITED STATES CITIZEN". Going back to Canada, according to Canadian passport#Application and issuance a Canadian passport requires that the person be a Canadian citizen, which in this case was probably done via naturalization. According to the application website you also need to prove Canadian citizenship in order to get a Canadian passport. Kumar is definitely a Canadian citizen. --Majora (talk) 21:02, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

Newest "Indian Citizenship" claim
Since I doubt this is going to last very long, again, I wanted to post my rationale here. First of all that PDF is the very embodiment of original research. It cannot be used on a BLP. Second, it doesn't even say that Kumar is an Indian citizen. At all. It says that he is not an overseas citizen of India. Which is the exact opposite of what Maestro2016 is using that invalid source for. Finally, just because he didn't go to a consulate and voluntarily give up his Indian citizenship doesn't mean he still holds it. As has been discussed numerous times already, Indian law forbids dual citizenship. This is laid out in our article on the matter, Indian nationality law. So when Kumar gained Canadian citizenship his Indian citizenship was automatically voided. No voluntary action on his part required. --Majora (talk) 00:19, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

English Closed Captions for Akshay Kumar's interview with Narendra Modiji
The unique interview was done on 24 Apr 2019 but it was almost entirely in Hindi. There is one video, covering the entire interview, with closed captions in English!
As far as I know, this is the only such video of this interview.

Multiple claims regarding height
The cited source mentions Kumar's height as 6'1". That source was published by rediff.com in 2007. The same site published this source in 2017, and it mentions his height as 5'11". I guess we should mention both claims regarding his height. - NitinMlk (talk) 18:14, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- @NitinMlk: Or omit it entirely, as it is of dubious academic relevance. Height might be relevant for a boxer or a basketball player where the information might explain why the subject excelled in those fields, just like weight might be relevant for a horse jockey or sumo wrestler. But height for an actor? Very trivial and rarely included in biographical articles. At 157 centimetres, Prince was known as a diminutive musician, but there's no mention of his height in the infobox. - @NitinMlk: Also, please see Template:Infobox person instructions for this parameter. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:16, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb:, Actually I put the height part but didn't go through the explanation in Template:Infobox person. Probably should remove it since the subject is not notable for his height. But on a similar note can't we include Amitabh Bachchan's height? He's notable for his height isn't it? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:52, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk: I'm not too familiar with Bachchan, but I would think that he is principally notable for being an actor, not necessarily for being a tall actor, and I don't see anything in the article that draws attention to this. Compare that to Peter Mayhew, the gentleman who played Chewbacca in Star Wars, who was 221 centimetres (7.25 ft) tall. He is notable for being a tall actor. Same with Joonas Suotamo, the man who replaced Mayhew in the role. Suotamo was also a basketball player, again where height is potentially noteworthy. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:32, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb:, Might not be in Bachchan's article, but in Indian popular culture he is kinda notable for his height. Probably we can find some reliable sources supporting this in future. Now I'm not that much interested in this, I'm just curious. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:07, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

Religious contradiction
Hi Kailash29792 re: this edit, I know the point was to present a conflicting statement about his religious practise, but now that paragraph seems oddly contradictory in that there is no connective tissue for readers to understand why our content contradicts himself. Maybe something like "Kumar has said that he is a practising blah blah blah, but has also gone on record as saying <contradictory thing>." Thoughts? At least that would make it clear that the contradiction in that paragraph is there on purpose. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:41, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Nationality
Should he not be described as an Indian actor with Canadian citizenship? I find it silly that he's introduced as Canadian, particularly in view of the references cited, both quoting him as saying that he is first and foremost Indian and that he applied back for Indian citizenship as it was a temporary thing. As far as I know, he hasn't even lived in Canada, he's been in India all along. One also has to mind the common meaning of nationality as in ethnicity, which might confuse readers. In this specific context, his nationality is Indian and citizenship Canadian. Shahid • Talk2me 00:06, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Part of the problem, which you acknowledge above, is the confusion that "Indian" could suggest ethnicity, which is amplified, I think, when we highlight a citizenship that is different from "Indian". To your point that "his nationality is Indian and citizenship Canadian", I'm not sure that's actually even true. When he was born in India, his nationality, which is typically an inherited label, would have been Indian for most of his life. But once someone changes citizenship, they become a member of another state, which I believe technically changes his nationality to Canadian. His children, if they were born in Canada, would be Canadian, and any attempt to label them "Indian" would describe ethnicity in the way that describing Kumar as an Indian would be describing an ethnicity, not his actual national alliance. If he doesn't want to be called a Canadian, he should swap citizenship. Previous wording at this article was "Indian-born Canadian", but again, this seems like a way to casually suggest an ethnicity when WP:ETHNICITY would not care for that. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:40, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- The funny thing is he does not live in Canada, never lived there, and above all identifies as Indian. The key word here is the one you yourself used - technically. There's common sense as well. I would suggest that he is of Indian ethnicity, which should not be mentioned unless it's notable, and in the case of this current situation, it does, IMO, need to be clarified. More than anything, I find him to be an Indian with Canadian citizenship. And by the way, at the end of the day, it's all about verifiability, not truth. Truth is he carries a Canadian passport (which, as he said, he wants to swap back to an Indian one), but I'm pretty sure every reliable source will refer to him as Indian anyway. What about "an actor with Canadian citizenship"? Shahid • Talk2me 02:23, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if someone lives in the nation they are a citizen of. If you're a citizen, you're a citizen. That's your new nationality. For as long as he is a Canadian citizen, he is a "Canadian", just as he'd be an American if he had American citizenship. The problem, is that (obviously with no ill intent on your part) you're proposing that we downplay the Canadian-ness of choices that he made. I didn't make him a Canadian. You didn't make him a Canadian. He made the choice and now he's more than just a "passport holder", he's a citizen of Canada. "An actor with Canadian citizenship" sounds like we're tiptoeing around some unspecified issue that has resulted in censorship. I'd probably suggest that more people should participate in this discussion before any change is made. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:42, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- Of course, I don't feel very strongly about it and wouldn't change it without reaching some sort of agreement. My point is - I feel that words taken to indicate one's nationality carry much more weight than strictly citizenship. Okay it's his choice (which he has since admittedly regretted), but being Canadian entails much more than holding a passport and, in this case, I disagree with you, since I, as opposed to you, do tend to think that it makes him just a passport holder. At the end of the day, it's of no use, he wants to give it up, and above all, introducing someone as Canadian does give the impression that he was born in Canada, and that's why Indian-born would help avoiding confusion. Shahid • Talk2me 03:25, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
Bollywood actors commonly make up stuff. He's heard in this Economist interview: "I have a strong affiliation with Canada and also have dual citizenship."But he forgot to read tThe Constitution of Indiawhichdoes not allow this, India's Ministry of External Affairs says it, the Indian consulate says this in NYC, the Australian consulate says this in Delhi, and the Hindu newspaper reported in February 2020 the Indian federal government reaffirmed that dual citizenship is not allowed under the Indian Constitution.Powerful chief ministers of Tamil Nadu have been lobbying the Indian government for that privilege for Sri Lankan Tamils for many decades. Do you seriously think they made a special dispensation for Mr Kumar? Please remove that garbage. He's not Canadian. He's never lived in Canada. He's never emigrated to Canada. He's not a dual citizen. Seriously, is there no limit to how low Wikipedia will stoop in kowtowing to what celebrities will say?Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:19, 28 May 2020 (UTC) Updated with apologies. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:49, 29 May 2020 (UTC)If he is claiming he became a Canadian citizen, perforce renounced his Indian citizenship, and is now waiting to get it back, that too is nonsense. To be naturalized as a Canadian, you have to be a permanent resident first (let's say he finagled that somehow); you then have to be physically present in Canada for three of the previous five years, before you can apply for citizenship. When did he do that? Perhaps they were flying back and forth, racking up the Canadian physical presence requirement which probably doesn't have to be continuous, and quietly became Canadian citizens, and is now telling a story about recovering his Indian citizenship in case Indians find out and bad publicity comes his way. This too is not uncommon. Indian expats in the US, for example, such as Jagadish Bhagwati, for example, don't like to announce that they've left India. See my post Talk:Jagdish_Bhagwati#India-born_naturalized_American But whatever is his story, it is obviously not one of dual citizenship. If he did become a naturalized Canadian, then you need to clearly say, "India-born naturalized Canadian actor." Fowler&fowler«Talk» 03:41, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Updated with apologies. OK, the India Today story of 2019, which I just read, makes clear that he was born in India, emigrated to Canada, became a permanent resident, then applied for Canadian citizenship, all under the radar of publicity. And like Jagadish Bhagwati is trying to hide it. No surprise there. Anyway, that is his problem. But for us, using the India Today source, you need to write in the lead and elsewhere: "... is an India-born naturalized Canadian actor." You have a source. End of story, and controversy. We are very clear about that on Wikipedia, mention both nationality and residency even when nationality has not been changed e.g. Amartya Sen or Sugata Bose. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 05:03, 28 May 2020 (UTC)No need for this as it is clear in the sources. Updated. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:40, 29 May 2020 (UTC)- OK, I've figured this out. He was obviously born and raised in India. Well into his adulthood, he emigrated to Canada (nothing wrong in that), but has continued to work in India (nothing wrong with that either). In keeping with the precedent in Albert Einstein, Anna Freud, or Erwin Schrödinger, all citizenships, whether sequential (and non-overlapping) or dual, are mentioned. Einstein, for example, was a US citizen in the last period of his life, but the earlier period, the major and most eventful one—of the photoelectric effect and relativity, both special and general, their experimental verification during a solar eclipse, and recognition in the Nobel Prize—was spent in Europe. I've added references that make this fairly explicit. India does not allow dual citizenship, so Mr Kumar's are sequential but not overlapping. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 17:40, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Confusion about nationality
In an event Akshay Kumar says that he had applied for a Canadian citizenship at a time when he had 14 back-to-back flops. Article missing this information. Infobox says, it's the Canadian government awarded him citizenship. I fail to understand this contradiction, who is lying Akshay Kumar or his wikipedia article? --25 CENTS VICTORIOUS ☣ 06:16, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- Obviously he. A minister in the Conservative Party government of former Canadian PM Stephen Harper says they awarded him citizenship without the requirement of his first having emigrated there, receiving permanent residence status there, and subsequently meeting the three-year residency requirement to apply for citizenship. It was all done using a little-known clause in Canadian law in return for his promise to use his star power to promote Canadian tourism in India. He became a citizen in 2011 and had to renounce his Indian citizenship. He got caught (when the Indian media questioned his qualifications for crusading for Indian citizens to vote in Mumbai, when he did not have voting rights himself) and is making up silly stories. Wikipedia is not beholden to treat stories that Bollywood actors spin as reliable truth even if they are being widely reported in India's media. We have mentioned his version in the citizenship section. But the infobox and the lead require seriously reliable sourcing such as the statement of a minister in the government which awarded him Canadian citizenship. Wordy citizenship info
Hey there Fowler&fowler, the content you restored here seems way too wordy to me.
Indian until 2011; Canadian thereafter as a result of awarding of citizenship by the Canadian government
Does all of that need to be there? Seems like if we said "Indian until 2011; Canadian thereafter", that would do it. I mean, how else could he get Canadian citizenship unless the Canadian government awarded him citizenship? Any further clarification that we needed to make should be presented in prose elsewhere in the article. Since you brought up Albert Einstein in an earlier conversation as an example of how to present the info, I don't see that level of detail in his |citizenship=
parameter. I see Einstein jumping about, but there's no prose about him being awarded citizenship by each of those nations/empires/kingdoms/states, likely because it's implicit.
And for the record, I also don't see a problem with the way the other user presented it:
- Indian (1967-2011)
- Canadian (2011-present)

His mother may be Sikh but he does have Sikh roots, his great- great grandmother was a Sodhi Khatri and he may be a distant descendant of Bhai Banno. Also five Punjabi Bhatias fought to protect guru Gobind Singh ji. FIVE. More than Jatts, more than any other caste. Hi probability he has relations to them.
My name is Dr. Paul Bhatia in Vancouver and I am a descendant of those Sikhs and I have reason to believe so is Akshay. After partition we lost our rich history.

Deletion of Controversy section
I had added section on controversy which has been deleted by @Shshshsh without any alternate proposition. Seek a resolution on the same. His rationale says the section was based on tabloid journalism. In that case the entire page is based on those very same sources cited in a flowery way. Would that also be deleted directly if I point out? Amitized (talk) 11:27, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
Further WP:Notability in case of events warrantes we retain this aspect in some form or the other. I would recommend making it a part of personal life if controversy section is not acceptable. Please suggest Amitized (talk) 11:44, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

- @Amitized: Hi, I did cite WP:CRITS and it's also advisable to look at WP:DUE. Not everything that can be supported by sources should be included in a WP:BLP article. His romantic affairs are just totally redundant. WP is not a gossip magazine. As for the tobacco controversy, this really is just a random, inconsequential incident - mind you, this is a biographical, encyclopedic entry. Shahid • Talk2me 12:20, 22 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for sharing more aspects for me to take into view, will propose a relevant prose for this, though I disagree on affairs, its a part of his life and not just one off. Lead
I think most leads of film actors do have a first paragraph which is more about achievements, awards, and standing in the film industry; then a summary of the career; then the rest, like, in this case, citizenship. I agree that everything pertaining to his Canadian citizenship, which was well-researched by Fowler&fowler, should be given a paragraph of its own, but other than that everything is okay there. I spent quite some time halting the other user's attempts to turn to lead into journalistic fancruft. I think now it's more balanced, and if there's any problem with particular instances, let's discuss them. Shahid • Talk2me 11:38, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- There's repetition. Some awards are mentioned in the lead paragraph and again later; one of the national awards which is the "fourth-highest civilian honour" now no longer says that. There's way too much WP:BOOSTER. The WP:ONUS is on you too as the adding editor, not on my as the deleting. Please do not edit war. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 11:45, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

- Lead is much better now, for sure. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 12:04, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Btw, I still don't think his citizenship deserves an entire paragraph in the lead. One sentence should be enough. The quotes and explanation should be in the article body IMO. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 12:06, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- I disagree. It is a major point of contention, with him obviously prevaricating for many years. Wikipedia is the only reliable source here. Most people don't read beyond the lead. Besides, it has been in the article for a number of years. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:17, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

- How? It has received significant coverage in the press, both in Canada and India. Also, his links with the Hindu nationalist ruling party and his boosting Hindu culture is not mentioned either in the article or in the lead. I will soon be adding both. The movie pages in general, and Bollywood in particular get easy passes because no one pays attention to the fluff. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

- His affiliation with a political party is hardly relevant in the body, maybe a mere sentence at best, much less the lead of the article. If you are referring to this article, which has a passing mention of Kumar's name as a lead in some film, as evidence for that, then, well. Shahid • Talk2me 12:43, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- That is just one. There are dozens. There is no mention of his three recent back to back flops, all around Hindu nationalist themes. No mention of his explicit statements about the need for history textbooks to be revised and made more favorable to Hindus. Anyway, as I said, I will edit this article and fix it tomorrow. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 12:58, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Who cares? He's an actor, not a political figure. You better keep your enthusiasm with Hindu nationalist movements away from articles on actors. Everyone has opinions (honestly, I didn't know all that until you just said it here but as I said, who cares anyway), Raj Kapoor did, and Dilip Kumar did, and so do the Khans, but they are actors - it's not what they're known for. I think a sentence about someone who's been public about the party they vote or something could do, but other than that, unless it gets significant coverage much to the point where they clearly become known for that, it's hardly notable.
- About the changes you want to make, please note that there is agreement on the lead as it stands, including the introductory paragraph (minus the "one of the most successful" which will be removed) and the summary of his career, and you should discuss it if you are willing to make major changes to them. Shahid • Talk2me 13:13, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- All depends on the attention in the sources. You can have any number of vaunted RfCs on that. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 13:17, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- By the way, which flops are you talking about when you're saying "back to back flops, all around Hindu nationalist themes"? I see 1) Raksha Bandhan, which is a family comedy-drama; 2) Samrat Prithviraj, a historical film; 3) Bachchhan Paandey, an action comedy; and 4) Bell Bottom, an action comedy. Indeed, all of them didn't do well. It can be mentioned of course, we just need to think how. Shahid • Talk2me 13:22, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

- @Krimuk2.0: Thank you for your edits and input Krimuk. I think so too. So we have a sort of consensus on the career part with your edits and point of view. As for citizenship, I'm not sure exactly how it should be presented - I think Akshay Kumar#Citizenship is a very good summary of his citizenship. So we have two points in need of solving:
- 1) As for the repetition of awards, it is quite common practice to give a summary of his awards in the first paragraph and specify them later in the lead.
- 2) This edit by Themodifie7, I completely disagree with. "one of the most successful..." is just puffery especially when him being one of the highest-paid actors is alredy mentioned. Shahid • Talk2me 12:20, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you for cutting on the POV pushing. The last edit about acclaim should also be reverted. Agree? Shahid • Talk2me 12:24, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
The citizenship part notwithstanding (we'll address it in a separate section and take it to RfC if needed), these last two edits by the other user, which are mere fancruft, should be reverted. Do we agree on that? Shahid • Talk2me 12:38, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- So, this is the version agreed upon by Krimuk and myself, and I believe the removal of puffery is accepted by Fowler as well. Right now the lead relies on factual information just as it should instead of fancruft.
- As for citizenship, I trust Krimuk's input and we'll see what Fowler has to offer in regard to the sources he's collecting in the section below. Shahid • Talk2me 13:37, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not the citizenship which is so notable for the lead that there is a Wikipedia warning about it when someone wants to edit the page, but about his blatant Hindu Nationalist POV-pushing. I will write a section on it later summarize it in the lead after the current citizenship sentences. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- If you attempt to remove it, I guarantee you I will give you and the other editor a run for the money. This is no threat, only a reflection of my use of irrefutable sources. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:31, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Are you kidding? Is this an ego trip against other editors or actual willingness to contribute and improve this page? I think your history shows more words than actions, and this hostile explosion of ego here is exactly why many reputable WP editors do not wish to collaborate with you and have often complained about your own POV pushing. Please be warned here that your threats will not be tolerated any longer.
- As for sources - it's never only about sourcing - WP:DUE is a huge part of writing articles. Please also note WP:BLP. They will lead this article, as will WP:CON. You should know that already. You do your job and others will do theirs', and we always have WP policy and other routes to achieving consensus and bringing a broaded number of opinions to fore. Shahid • Talk2me 15:27, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Following recent edits by Fowler - I would like to specify what Krimuk2.0 has already mentioned above - Citizenship is part of his personal life, and not a major issue in and of itself. The claim that citizenship overshadows his personal life, which has been a subject of frequent media interest throughout his career, is baseless. There's also agreement above that it's already been given too much importance in the lead and perhaps should be cut down per WP:DUE. At this point, everything that is not his film career as an actor, should be put together in one paragraph, just like it's normally done in other actor BLPs, including FAs. Fowler, your attempts to single it out here and make it a single paragraph is obvious - please discuss it and reach consensus instead of edit warring. Shahid • Talk2me 14:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Another point - the claim that citizenship outranks personal life because because of sources is directly shown to be incorrect considering, for one, an entire section on his social activism which does not find any mention in the lead. Shahid • Talk2me 14:20, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Of course it is not baseless when the parliamentary affairs bureau of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation steps into the controversay:
- Dyer, Evan (Parliamentary Affairs Bureau) (7 March 2020), Canada's politicians have stayed mostly silent about a wave of anti-Muslim violence in India, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) News, retrieved 14 September 2020 Quote: "(Former prime minister Stephen) Harper campaigned in 2011 alongside one of Modi's biggest celebrity backers, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who was later given a special grant of Canadian citizenship." That is not personal life. I'm happy to take this to WT:INDIA and ask the knowledgeable people there. Apparently for three years it did not occur to you that anything was the matter with this grouping.
- Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:28, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Fowler&fowler: Move the discussion down, as for additions re his political views in the lead, as I said, you'll add them only if consensus is reached. Shahid • Talk2me 14:37, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- But until it is added you don't get to dicker with that paragraph. Please understand that. The issue of privacy itself has been written up in the media.
- Luthra, Rajesh (8 May 2019), "Why Akshay Kumar's national loyalty is no private matter", NewsLaundry, retrieved November 7, 2022,
Mr Akshay Kumar didn't vote. He didn't vote because he chose not to. He chose to give up his Indian citizenship for a Canadian passport. A few years ago, in a video that has since gone viral, he explained that Toronto was his home, and that he'd stay there once he retires from films. After he was confronted with why he didn't cast his vote, Kumar tweeted that his vote was a private matter and not anyone else's business. It is important to note that Mr Kumar, a Canadian citizen, has earlier advised Indian women to use sanitary pads and has also made a movie telling Indians to use toilets. Had Mr Kumar possibly just danced and beat up bad guys at the end of two-hour melodramas (as some of his colleagues limit the agenda to), social media may not have sounded as affected as they did over his citizenship. Had he not interviewed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on national television during the elections on national and notional issues, a doting audience may not have questioned his politics. Lastly, if Mr Kumar hadn't publicly endorsed Mr Modi's advice to exercise the right to franchise, his fans may not have asked him why he didn't cast his vote.Family matters are best kept within the family. It is the parent who takes it upon himself to spoil or shape the child. Likewise, some matters of the nation are best addressed by the nationals themselves. In India, cinema and cricket run deep and have as much impact. So when it was ascertained that Mr Kumar had forsaken his nationality for the seductive wilderness of Canada, it hurt.
