Not the PC game
[edit]This article is about the Nintendo DS version of the game, not the PC version. They are substantially different in gameplay and should have seperate articles. Please do not nominate this article for deletion or merging to the PC version article as it is a different game. Some guy 18:40, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's also not a port. Some guy 20:43, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree, perhaps we should split the artical into "Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (Ds)" and "Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (Pc)" Freshbakedpie (talk) 18:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Never mind,it allready exists

Robin Hood???
[edit]There are many game reviews out there that mention Robin Hood as one of the heroes, although he is not in the game (unless he's unlockable through the Black Market). Does anyone know the deal behind this misinformation? --Gray PorpoiseYour wish is my command! 01:14, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe it's a joke, or referring to the PC version. He's not in the market. Some guy 04:51, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
good game, the age of king DS ! He does exist, but you can only get him throught the map editor in the Pc version. Sorry if that disappoints you. Freshbakedpie (talk) 18:19, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
- Freshbakedpie is completly right. Robin is only available in the map editor. The Sheriff of Nottingham and Friar Tuck are also available. Gloryify (talk) 09:28, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's great, but this article isn't about the PC version. Some guy (talk) 02:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
In-Game Lag
[edit]I've noticed something while playing the "Yashima" mission. When large amounts of units are present on the map (I couldn't even count, at least 75), the game tends to have lag and slowdown during movement and battle scenes.
I think this should be mentioned. Thank you.

- That would be original research unless it is specifically singled out in third-party sources, such as reviews. --Scottie_theNerd 09:08, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, that's not an issue just from the Yamisha mission. On any game with a large number of units on one screen, the game gets HUGE lag. Also, anyone had the annoying and common problem I have- when you skip the battle screen in which a Horse unit attacks, the game keeps playing "Horses Moving" sound. Minor game bugs do not warrant inclusion in an encyclopaedic article. If we listed every bug in all the AoE articles, 90% of each would be made up of this.

Technical Issues
[edit]Very recently a user added an "unsourced" tag to the technical issues section of the article. Unfortunately (due to financial difficulties) Majesco is falling apart, and one of the results of this is that they have offlined their official forums which had limited confirmation of the glitch as well as the workarounds (Majesco never provided a very official acknowledgement; thank god for corporate irresponsibility). They appear to no longer have web support, so it's even more difficult to find an official source. However, I personally have experienced game crashes (thankfully no permanent damage to the cartridge), and I will provide some links to anecdotal evidence from others who have experienced issues with the game. Unfortunately these sources do not meet Wikipedia standards, but I'm pretty sure that by the nature of the company failing, it is no longer possible to find a "solid" source for this info. Please take it in good faith.
- Age of Empires DS: A Warning
- Is AOE DS any good?
- Age of Empires DS - Good quote: "I too am concerned about the crashes people are reporting on the net."
- Age of Microsoft - A bit harsh, with unnecessary and perhaps invalid anti-Microsoft bias, but memorable quote: "As I took the main bridges, cornering him, he used his special power: CRASH THE NINTENDO DS SYSTEM."

I'm pretty sure forums are not valid wikipedia sources.

- Wasn't that implied in "Unfortunately these sources do not meet Wikipedia standards"? Why are you criticizing posts from 2008? Isn't having "mod" in your name a violation of username policy? Some guy (talk) 06:13, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Genre
[edit]Why is this game listed as being a turn-based strategy game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.239.65.254 (talk) 13:49, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- Did you miss all the many places where it says that this is the DS game? It is turn-based strategy. Some guy (talk) 17:15, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, you expect me to go to the effort of reading something before I post an uninformed comment? Someone tell this man how the internet actually works. Sorry, should have read obvo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.110.215 (talk) 19:14, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
