[edit]A minor change, but the box at the highlight box at the top of the page says, "First awarded 1978; 45 years ago." The Award was founded in 1977, but the first time the award was presented was in 1980. The first cycle was 1978-1980. There are 3 accurate options for the first date in this box: "First Awarded in 1980", "Founded in 1977", or perhaps, "First Award Cycle: 1978-1980". I don't know how the change the label in this box, so I didn't make the change. See the Aga Khan Award for Architecture collection on Archnet or the list of cycles on the Aga Khan Award for Architecture page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikeyat (talk • contribs) 15:55, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
Some initial thoughts. Photographs of the winning designs would help. Also I'd plmup for either Āgā Khān IV, or His Highness Prince Karīm al-Ḥussaynī Āgā Khān IV rather than just his highness - I know it's a title but it sounds rather like a Peacock term. For brevities sake I'd go for Āgā Khān IV. --Mcginnly | Natter 16:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Comment from Archnet I am the Archnet Content Manager in the Aga Khan Documentation Center, MIT Libraries. Please note, since 2013 Archnet has been rebranded to no longer be written with a capital N. We'd be grateful if Wikipedia editors would use the new form of the name. Please also note that the site was redesigned in 2013, and most of the older links no longer work. That said, none of the content was removed, so it can all be found by searching at Archnet.org. Mikeyat (talk) 20:40, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Mikeyat

halawa house
[edit]Hello,
I have just created a page on Halawa House, one of the winners of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Is it possible to include a link on your page to my article?
Many Thanks,

I tried to add some links to this article, but they were removed because I didn't add them correctly. Perhaps someone else can think of how to add them or derive information from these links and create proper Wikipedia entries. The article mentions the AKAA seminars. The proceedings of every seminar and every monograph published by the awards are freely available for download in this resource: https://archnet.org/collections/1669
Photographs and briefings on every project that has received the Award is available on the website for the AKAA: https://www.akdn.org/architecture. More extensive documentation on each project, including the nominations, jury reports, and media about each project is available in this collection: https://archnet.org/collections/848 Maybe someone else can figure out how to add them correctly. Thanks. Mikeyat (talk) 07:06, 20 January 2020 (UTC)Mikeyat

Question: Is it appropriate to add links to references if the publication is freely and legally available online? For example, this publication is cited multiple times:
Jodidio, Philip. (2007). Under the eaves of architecture : the Aga Khan : builder and patron. Munich: Prestel. ISBN 9783791337814. OCLC 166214221. The full publication is available here: https://archnet.org/publications/5228
Similarly, Reference 42 links to the Internet Archive:
Vidhan Bhavan, (ArchNet) Archived 8 February 2006 at the Wayback Machine
But all the information on that project is available here: https://archnet.org/sites/1406 The URL changed when Archnet was redesigned, but the page exists.

Growing the article / 2019 Award Cycle
[edit]I just saw that the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture recipients have been announced in Kazan, Russia today (see https://www.archdaily.com/923923/the-2019-winners-of-the-aga-khan-award-for-architecture ). Time to add the new cycle to this article!
- Added a simple list of the award recipients. Still needs more detail... anyone want to help? -- Aylahs (talk) 14:31, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
I also was pleased to see an attempt by Saisman974 to expand this article with history, process, etc - something it's needed for a while now. Sadly, the edits were reverted shortly after by MrOllie, even though they appeared to have been well written and sourced. I'm not sure why the revert? -- Aylahs (talk) 12:26, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
- I'm all for expansion, but we have to write neutrally. That addition was very promotional. - MrOllie (talk) 13:22, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
- Totally agree with upholding NPOV, but the new text didn't come across as promotional to me. I thought it was a fair representation of the sources cited. And they included very reputable sources: articles published in Architectural Record and Aramco World. MrOllie, can you cite specific places in the text where you thought it wasn't neutral? Certainly the entire edit doesn't merit a revert? -- Aylahs (talk) 14:08, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
- I've re-read the text that Saisman974 added, and I'm struggling to see how it breaks NPOV. The text is built from verifiable facts that are well-attributed, citations come from a range of unbiased sources and it's written in neutral language. I think the edits should be restored and intend to do so. Editors should use NPOV templates to indicate specific POV-related problem areas so that they can be addressed instead of simply reverting the entire text. -- Aylahs (talk) 15:52, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
