Halesam (Persian: هلسم)[a] is a village in, and the capital of, Halesam Rural District of the Central District of Chardavol County,[b] Ilam province, Iran.[5]

The village is populated by Kurds.[6]

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 663 in 137 households, when it was in Shabab Rural District of the Central District.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 630 people in 156 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 494 people in 140 households, by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Shabab District.[4] It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]

After the census, Halesam was transferred to Halesam Rural District created in the Central District.[5]
