Gordon McKee (born 1994 or 1995)[1] is a British Labour Party politician who has been serving as a Member of Parliament for Glasgow South since 2024.[2]
Career
[edit]McKee was formerly a staff member of the think tank Labour Together. In 2024, he worked for the then-Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland Ian Murray.[3] Among the current Starmer ministry, he has been labelled a "rising star" .[4]
He studied Computer Science at university, and has said of his background that "I come from a very working-class family. My dad’s a welder and my grandpa was a miner."[5] His family was not very political, although they voted Labour, and "he didn’t know a single person who was a member of a political party when he joined", according to LabourList.[5] McKee caused controversy when it was revealed that he was gifted tickets worth £550 to the men’s final at Wimbledon a little more than a week after being elected.[6]
