English: $1,000 Silver Certificate Proof, Series of 1878 (Fr. Ref#346a), depicting William L. Marcy. Engraved signatures of Scofield (Register of the Treasury) and Gilfillan (Treasurer of the United States). Countersigned by A.U. Wyman.
This is a proof, no issued examples are known to exist in any public or private collections.
