Request: New photo of Agapitov available

[edit]

Hello editors,

I'm reaching out on behalf of Xsolla and Aleksandr "Shurick" Agapitov to submit a photo for this article. I'm submitting this request due to my financial conflict of interest.

As the Aleksandr Agapitov article was just created, it currently lacks a photo. Can editors add File:Aleksandr Agapitov headshot.jpg to the info box?

@Asparagusus: Since you assisted me in publishing the article, I wondered if you might be interested in adding this photo as well? I would greatly appreciate your help.

If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to address them. Thanks for the review!

Proposal for deletion discussion

[edit]

Hello editors!

This discussion was created to formally contest the proposed deletion of the Aleksandr Agapitov article. I would also like to disclose that I have a conflict of interest as I am an employee of Xsolla.

The deletion tag was placed by editor JBW citing concerns over notability. While I understand JBW's concerns, I respectfully disagree with their assessment. The article cites coverage of Agapitov from Bloomberg, Venture Beat, and Pocket Gamer. Wikipedia's reliable sources guideline notes that Bloomberg and Venture Beat are generally considered reliable sources. Additionally, the WikiProject Video Games specifically lists Pocket Gamer as a reliable source for video game-related content.

The Bloomberg article specifically qualifies as a reliable source that provides substantial coverage because it is a profile article that provides significant biographical details of Agapitov.

I believe Aleksandr Agapitov meets Wikipedia's General Notability Guideline, as demonstrated with the presence of in-depth coverage in reliable sources. I kindly request that editor JBW and others consider keeping this article.

I also invite editors Asparagusus and OXYLYPSE to review this discussion and share their opinions. Asparagus originally accepted the article, and OXYLYPSE has reviewed the larger Xsolla article in the past. I am happy to further collaborate with editors to edit this article to address any specific sourcing and content concerns, but I firmly believe that the current sources establish Agapitov's notability.

Many Thanks, Xsolla Sara (talk) 21:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Xsolla Sara read over WP:DEPROD. You may remove the PROD notice yourself, even as the creator, and require this to go via AFD (PROD is one-shot only). OXYLYPSE (talk) 21:29, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Xsolla Sara: Also please read Wikipedia:Canvassing. JBW (talk) 23:06, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, OXYLYPSE: My reservation for deleting the PROD notice myself is less about my position as the article's creator, but rather my conflict of interest as an employee of Xsolla. I would like to stay firmly within the lines of what is allowed for editors with a conflict of interest. Because of that, I thought a constructive discussion would be a more appropriate action to take.
Let me know what you think, and thanks again for your quick response. Xsolla Sara (talk) 04:36, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Xsolla Sara: I fully understand your reservation regarding the COI. The PROD deletion process doesn't really cater for discussions, it's for uncontested deletions. I would remove the tag but I would probably find myself voting to Delete if this went to AfD, so I don't think it would be helpful. Perhaps having the article moved back to draft would be a better idea? OXYLYPSE (talk) 11:08, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OXYLYPSE I think your idea to move to draft space is good. Since I have a conflict of interest, could you move this article to the draft space on my behalf? That way I can continue to work on it to bolster notability. Thanks for the suggestion. Xsolla Sara (talk) 15:51, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved that for you. It's important to note that converting this to a draft isn't a way to prevent later deletion, it's just a way to allow this to be worked on mostly without being disturbed. If the subject cannot be proven to be notable, it'll end up deleted in the end! It's probably best to go back via AfC to get this re-approved. Thanks, OXYLYPSE (talk) 16:10, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
