Draft:Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare
Submission declined on 21 August 2024 by Theroadislong (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

- Comment: This draft's tone is highly unencyclopedic. Please improve upon it. --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 18:50, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The Services section, as it stands, is quite unencyclopedic with its unreferenced paragraphs and healthcare offers. Could probably be removed. Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare is a specialized rehabilitation facility located in Saginaw, Michigan. Established through a partnership between Covenant HealthCare and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation, this institution offers both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services to the Great Lakes Bay Region.
Historical Background
[edit]Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation traces its origins to 1891 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, when a group of women initiated efforts to provide healthcare access to children. The initiative began with a fundraising campaign asking individuals named "Mary" to donate ten cents, leading to the funding of a single hospital bed known as the "Mary Free Bed."
Over the years, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation has grown significantly, and as of 2024-2025, it was ranked the 9th-best rehabilitation hospital in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.[1]
In 2018, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation expanded its services to Saginaw through a partnership with Covenant HealthCare. This collaboration was further strengthened with the opening of a $40.7 million facility in 2021, designed to enhance rehabilitation services in the region.[2]
Facilities
[edit]The Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare facility features 60 private inpatient rooms, catering to patients with a variety of complex medical needs, including those recovering from brain injuries. The facility is equipped with physical therapy gyms on each floor, utilizing advanced technology to support various rehabilitation processes. Additionally, outpatient services are provided, with specialized areas dedicated to orthotics, prosthetics, and bionics.[3]
The facility also houses advanced rehabilitation equipment, including the Ovation Interactive Treadmill—one of only 10 in the United States.[4]
Services
[edit]Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. Outpatient therapy is designed for patients who require ongoing recovery support without the need for overnight stays, while inpatient therapy provides specialized care in private rooms equipped to handle critical care patients.[5]
Pediatric rehabilitation is a significant focus, with a dedicated therapy gym equipped with child-sized tools. Services in this area include the Pediatric Feeding Program, augmentative communication, and autism evaluations, all structured in a child-friendly setting.
Patient Care
[edit]The care approach at Mary Free Bed at Covenant HealthCare emphasizes personalized treatment plans that integrate clinical expertise, advanced technology, and interdisciplinary teamwork. In the fiscal year 2023, the network served 98,000 patients across various locations.[6]
Location
[edit]The institution provides both inpatient and outpatient services across several locations in Saginaw, Bay City, Frankenmuth, and Hemlock.
