Q: Why
A: Some editors place numerous such links - perhaps, in excess; perhaps not - and other editors seem to believe that all such links are proscribed; however, there is no such proscription. In any case, a consistent, appropriate, evolving and flexible policy needs to be in place, and until such time as a detailed, nuanced and specific answer to that warrant issues from community consensus, it would be consistent with WP customs to avoid wheel warring and utilize dialogue rather than edit wars to develope a consistent, project-wide policy. And tertiary purpose is to apprise editors of other WMF and non-WMF projects in which a more profligate use of videographic documentation is permissible, such as for the purpose of conduction original research or synthesis.
There is no ban on use of video links. Unfortunately, some crazed deletionists seem like they have nothing better to do than vandalize WP articles under the wikilawyering pretext of enforcing some non-existent ban.
