Corresponding ribbons for drive barnstars
Hi everyone! I've recently created some ribbon equivalents for the WikiProject's current barnstar award system. Would it be possible for them to be added with the corresponding barnstars on the awards page? Cheers, Freebirdthemonk Howdy! 17:22, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- Wow! I've added them to the table, but feel free to tweak if you want to make it look better or anything. Thanks :) benzband (talk) 18:36, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- I may need to tweak the Wikifier's trophy Ribbon, because I noticed that, when small enough, it doesn't look very good and you can't really see the trophy. I was thinking about just removing the image altogether and just having the solid gold ribbon, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions or ideas? Cheers, Freebirdthemonk Howdy! 18:57, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- No sorry, i couldn't say. I think either would be great though :) benzband (talk) 21:56, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- You could put a star on it instead of the trophy, that might show up better. Nice work, btw! --Dianna (talk) 23:08, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- The trophy and star didn't work out as well as I had hoped, so I left it as a solid gold ribbon. Cheers, Freebirdthemonk Howdy! 01:57, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Template:Wikification
Now that Template:Wikify is deprecated, is Template:Wikification (a similar template that goes on talk pages) really needed? Should it be redirected to Wikify? It is only used on 20 talk pages anyway, and is inferior to all the specific templates we use, and also inferior to WikiProject Wikify's "How to wikify". new drive
i think a drive should be maintained each month, considering the amount of articles still carrying the tag. i can help coordinate it in any way needed. cheers ,FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:34, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
February 2013's drive.
Quick question: Why has this drive not been started? It's time to go. Oh, is this the Top Secret room? I had no idea... (talk) 00:27, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- ditto! GOCE and AfC have already concluded their january drives... FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 00:50, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well, no worries. I finally conquered my fear of composing extremely technical pages (XD), and got the drive started. Learned a lot in the process, if you'll believe it. The February Wikification Drive 2013
I'm thinking about User:FoCuSandLeArN. See his/her drive log, You can see he/she is the leader. He/she has wikified 99 articles. But I don't think he/she has wiified that much. I have some proof for my suspicion. See down.
- Athuru Mithuru
- ATG9A
- Association of New Jersey Chiropractors
- Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts
There're 4 but I think there're more. You see in this four article history he/she doesn't have any contributions but the drive page says he/she has wikified and completed these article. If he/she thinks he'll wikify them then he can put this article with a working headline. That's okay, But without wikifieing someone can't say he/she has wikified that. Watch this please.--Pratyya (Hello!) 14:21, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- Done. Need no answer. Thanks
- I wikified all articles stated. I do many at a time, and as such can't save each article as "working". this would be very time-consuming. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:49, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
Navigation sidebar
Hi all. I am building a navigation sidebar for the wikiproject and have a copy in my sandbox ready for review. One thing that's different from the current navigation system is this template lists all the categories under the purview of the wikiproject. We need to fill out the list of related templates as it's incomplete right now. I have to go do some RL stuff but thought I would post here for feedback on this preliminary version. Cheers, -- Dianna (talk) 16:51, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
- Looks good, although I think the text should be left-aligned. There's a list of all the templates covered by the project at Template:Wikify; I think you got them all except the lead cleanup templates ({{lead too long}}, {{lead too short}}, etc.) DoctorKubla (talk) 08:46, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Great suggestions. I have also organised the material so editors who want to tackle a specific kind of problem will find it easier to locate the type of articles they want to work on. Version 2 is now ready for viewing at User:Diannaa/sandbox. -- Dianna (talk) 16:25, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Annual wikification drive awards
As mentioned on the awards page, there are special awards known as "Most Excellent Wikification Awards", that are to be issued to those backlog drive participants meeting the criteria after every calendar year. I checked over who qualified under each criteria, and distributed the awards accordingly:
Participation in every drive (including the March Mini):
- User:Wilhelmina Will Done*
- User:Pjoef Done
- User:Miniapolis Done
Most leaderboard appearances (March Mini included):
- User:Wilhelmina Will Done*
- User:Pjoef Done
Just so it's on record. Cheers! Oh, is this the Top Secret room? I had no idea... (talk) 12:15, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Sort
Hello there! Maybe it's just me, but given one of the wikify stipulates is to place the sort template in articles that need it I think a tutorial or an explanation is needed. I for one don't know how to use it and what it does (sort of...). I think I've successfully placed it in a few articles, following the instructions. Could any help be provided? And possibly a how-to be appended to the wikify instructions in case it helps others? Thank you! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:51, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hello there FoCuSandLeArN; I'm Nolelover, one of the old guys of this project, and I just wanted to give you some kind of answer to your question, even if it's not the one you're looking for. To be entirely honest, I've almost completely forgotten how in the time I've been inactive. {{L}} is used whenever the article is about the living person. You fill out the three parameters (with the sortkey being "Last name, First name, MI") and stick that at the bottom of the article. In all other articles, the sort key is places with the
{{DEFAULTSORT:ARTICLE NAME}}
magic word. There are minor exceptions (you put articles like "the" and "a" at the end, after a commna) but that's the general idea. As for why...well, that's way beyond me by now. There's more info at WP:SORTKEY, and if you need further help, I'm sure you know the general places (help desk, helpme template, etc). I don't know if this really answer what you wanted to know, but I just didn't want your query to go completely unanswered. Best, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 14:06, 14 April 2013 (UTC)- Thanks for answering! One of my major doubts is why are there two different sort keys? I mean, I've seen the defaultsort for bios too, is that wrong? Cheers, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 22:02, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Are you referring to the difference templates, one for bios, and one for everything else? Well, it's not that there are two different sort keys. It's just that the one for bios (the template "L" I linked above) includes additional information (years alive) that obviously does not apply to a volcanic rock formation in Japan, heh heh. Does that answer your question? Nolelover Talk·Contribs 03:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- It does, thanks! So the defaultsort is ok for bios too?
- Absolutely (that I know of--I must use this disclaimer, because my knowledge in this area is very limited, haha). Defaultsort is the generic tool that is used for every single article. Template:L includes defaultsort, and adds a parameter for the years alive/dead categories, just to remind people that if you add one, it's good to add the other too. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 16:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

A sad Wikify story
I am a beginner Wikifyer, and am feeling disillusioned and inclined to quit. So I am here for counselling, pointing in the right direction, or a good slap to get me back to work.
I have Wikified about 15 articles and have found it quite rewarding, but now that I have a little experience I am becoming pessimistic about what lies ahead. I have just generated about 10 random articles in a row that need Wikifying in order to get a picture of what my future might be, and it is pretty depressing. Of the ten articles I looked at, about 5 are obviously very shallow, lack-of-notability candidates for people or organisations. I don't feel motivated to spend any significant amount of time seeking to support such articles: they are about 10-15 lines in length and contain no significant content. Should I simply add a "recommended for deletion tag" and move on to articles that will can be improved?
PS: I expect that this question has been asked and answered many times before, but I haven't come across a FAQ or similar page to help me with the job apart from the Project Wikify page. Travers (talk) 06:35, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Travers. While some people feel that all the content in the encyclopedia is valuable and worth keeping, I agree with you that it's best to be choosy about where we invest our time by selecting articles to work on that are on important topics or receive many page views (or even both). What I often do is choose articles on a topic of interest using the Catscan tool. (This link might not work first try; all the Toolserver tools have been acting up the last few days.) There's some instructions on how to use Catscan at the GOCE home page. -- Dianna (talk) 12:04, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

- Hello Travers, I'm sorry you are feeling sad.
Sometimes working on borderline articles with poor contents can lead to semi-decent results ([1]→[2] – diff).
If it is a clear case that fall under Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, then you can tag it for speedy deletion. In this case, remember to follow the guidelines, of course, but also take a look at its history because there might be a previous version (or more than one) which is better than the current one. For all artilces where we are not sure, we need to follow Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Personally, I prefer (when it's notable or uncertain) to add more contents, infoboxes, internal links, categories, geographical coordinates, …. When I fail, which means that I cannot find relevant information on the subject, I usually go ahead to the next article.
In any case, keep up the good work and happy editing. –pjoef (talk • contribs) 08:12, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

- Wilhelmina, I'm going to decline the award. I did no real work for this drive. I hope to help more next month since school will be done and we think our number one goal should be to find new members so wikifying 2 articles doesn't land someone on the leaderboard. Ryan Vesey 20:41, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm declining as well. I never really did get time set aside to tackle this. Three articles is not much of a contribution, and I cannot in good conscience accept an award for so little work. As an aide, this notification thingy that's been added works great. I got notified about my name being posted up here. -- Whpq (talk) 20:46, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry. I posted the awards on both your talkpages before I read this message. Feel free to remove them if you wish, but I feel that since there were so few participants at all, and quite a couple of those who did sign in never wikified anything, you do deserve those awards. :) Cheers! - Well, we may not have had the best turnout we've ever received in a drive, for which I must accept at least 80% of the blame, not understanding how to set up the project's advertising for the latest drives. Still, out of the seven users who did join, six participated, and a total of 462 articles were wikified, so I think that does call for a bit of a celebration. Can you decipher this acronymical code? Random article
There seems to be a problem with the "Click here to find a random article to wikify" link on the Project page. I tried it five times and all five articles appear to be already "wikified" in the sense that they have the expected formatting and layout for Wikipedia. These were:
- Ong Hock Thye
- Nolan Chart
- Future Problem Solving Program Australia
- Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup
- Los Tucanes de Tijuana
Am I misunderstanding something about this process? 86.128.6.65 (talk) 20:06, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Ong Hock Thye - This does appear to be adequately linked. If you check the history of the article, you can see that an editor new to Wikipedia has added wikilinks but did not remove the issue tag; perfectly understandable for a new editor. The action needed here is to simply remove the tag.
- Nolan Chart - The article lead is claimed to be inadequate but there is no explanation on the talk page. The lead looks adequate to me. The action here is to simply remove the tag.
- Future Problem Solving Program Australia - One might argue that a link to University of Melbourne might be added, but really there's not a lot to links to add. Action here is to remove the tag (and I'll link the university).
- Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup - uses bare URLs for citations. It should be converted to use citation templates. This one is legitimately tagged.
- Los Tucanes de Tijuana - uses bare URLs for citations. It should be converted to use citation templates. This one is legitimately tagged.
So in summary, I think you do generally have the right understanding of the process. Feel free to be bold if you come across articles which have been improved but still have their tag and untag them. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 21:52, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) The first three were untagged earlier today by because the issues in question had been addressed: [3] [4] [5]. The last two are still in Category:Articles covered by WikiProject Wikify because they have been tagged as needing link rot cleanup, an issue which fall under the scope of Wikiproject Wikify (along with footnote reformatting, HTML markup cleanup, underlinking, overlinking, dead-ends, introduction cleanup, references cleanup, needing section and infobox requests). benzband (talk) 22:21, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation in crisis
Up until July 4, the disambiguation project was making steady progress in combating disambiguation links, reaching an all-time low of only 62,419 disambiguation pages with incoming links. Since then, the number of disambiguation pages with incoming links has quickly shot up by over a thousand. I don't know why this number is suddenly increasing, whether editors are becoming more active and less careful in making links, or new articles are justifying increased numbers of disambiguation pages, or frequent disambiguators are getting discouraged and leaving the project, but we are falling behind and need help. Please make sure that the links you make point to the right articles, not to disambiguation pages. If you turn an existing page or redirect into a disambiguation page or a redirect to disambiguation page, please fix the incoming links, as your regular disambiguators are likely too swamped to get to them. If you can find and fix a handful of disambiguation links, that would be great. bd2412 T 17:46, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Infobox and introduction for Education Management Corporation
Hello, I have an open request on the Talk page for the Education Management Corporation (EDMC) article, which falls under the scope of this wikiproject, so I'm hopeful that an editor here can help complete it.
First let me explain my relationship with this topic: I am a consultant to EDMC and have been working over the past few months to clean up and improve this article. I have always disclosed my financial COI with this topic when asking for help and have not made any direct edits to the article. All of the improvements have been done with the help of non-COI editors, following Jimbo's advisement that outside advocates should stick to Talk pages.
The improvements to the article are nearly complete, but I am looking for help adding the {{infobox company}} template to this article, as there is currently no infobox on the page. I am also looking to clean up the introduction so it provides a more complete overview of the article. I have actually already prepared the infobox and revised introduction and placed them on the Talk page for review so I am only looking for an editor to look over what I have put together and make the changes to the article if it looks OK. (I've also added the markup for these changes to the Talk page, for convenience.)
If you can help with one or both of these remaining revisions, I'd be very grateful, and you can see my original request here. Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 17:22, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

The project hasn't had a newsletter for a whole year now so I figured I'd write one and distribute it towards the end of the month, along with an announcement for the December drive, to the editors who have opted-in at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Participants/Newsletter. benzband (talk) 14:11, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Does anyone feel like writing an editorial? (If several people do, we can have several!) Just insert it here if you wish to. You can consult a list of past editorials here. benzband (talk) 14:25, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
{{Infobox requested}} categorization problem
The template currently categorizes pages into Category:Articles covered by WikiProject Wikify which ideally it shouldn't really be doing. See Template talk:Infobox requested#Categorization. benzband (talk) 14:11, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hello wikifiers, my proposal at Template talk:Infobox requested#Categorization needs your input to determine consensus. If you can (and wish to), please spare a moment to voice your opinion either for or against it (or propose some other alternative). Thanks, benzband (talk) 22:36, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
The 'year in ...' type articles
Hi, on my travels with the December drive have discovered the series of articles in need of a lead paragraph, that are named, for example 1934_in_film - I wondered if there is a consensus about these articles and how to create a lead section? there are many of them and across different categories etc. It could almost be an article sub-genre with a standard template introduction ... Then there is another issue about how comprehensive and reliable the articles are - but that's way beyond me and simple wikifying i think ... Any thoughts? directions to policy pages? Thanks Depthdiver (talk) 02:22, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Depthdiver: There is a WikiProject Years, but other than that I don't know. benzband (talk) 16:15, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks @Benzband: - that looks exactly what I was hoping for :-) Depthdiver (talk) 17:28, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
100% completion?
If a page has multiple issues and you correct ONE of them to 100% completion can you mark that as completed under your log? Or do you have to completely fix all of the page's issues? Skarz (talk) 18:18, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Skarz: I should say you're supposed to fix all of the page's issues that fall within the scope of WikiProject wikify.
- The following templates, of course…
- {{Citation style}}
- {{Cleanup-link rot}}
- {{Format footnotes}}
- {{Cleanup-HTML}}
- {{Infobox requested}}
- {{Sections}}
- {{Dead end}}
- {{Overlinked}}
- {{Underlinked}}
- {{Citation needed (lead)}}
- {{Context}}
- {{Inadequate lead}}
- {{Lead missing}}
- {{Lead rewrite}}
- {{Lead too long}}
- {{Lead too short}}
- {{POV-lead}}
- {{Time-context}}
- …which categorize the articles under Category:All articles covered by WikiProject Wikify (it's a hidden category though, so you'll have to have checked the box labeled "Show hidden categories" in your Appearance preferences if you want to see it appear in the mainspace like other categories).
- But also any issues that aren't tagged, if they fall within the scope of the project: making sure the issues listed WP:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/Instructions are addressed should do the job.

Records
Who keeps the record of contributions of every editor to this project and where can one see the records.Skr15081997 (talk) 13:01, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

April 2014 Backlog drive.
Just so everyone knows, the April 2014 backlog drive has commenced! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 02:37, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
- Not related to the drive, but a convenient place to raise the issue because it came up during the drive. I have chosen to work on airline articles without an infobox (a target rich environment). In connection with this drive. I am finding I am editing twice as many articles as I am logging as wikifyed. There are two reasons for that.
- Editors who have added an infobox to an article without removing the "infobox needed" parameter from the airport template. I've edited these talk pages, and it seems clear to me that this shouldn't count as wikifying.
- Articles that have been merged with other articles. Cleaning these up involves determining when the merger occurred, putting the "merged from" template on the surviving article, putting the "merged to" template on the article I'm wikifying and doing additional cleanup (removing project ratings, etc.). In addition to wikifying, failure to put the merger templates on these articles is a violation of the copyright agreement we all agree to when we started editing. (Disclosure: yes I did this myself when I was a new editor, so I am sure these are good faith edits). Now, to my question. It seems to me that doing all these actions is wikifying the article, though it doesn't seem to fall under any particular guideline, so my question is, should I count these articles? (To be clear I have not done so so far).
- Next, a plea for mercy. The last drive was announced late, when I was involved with a similar campaign on WP:MILHIST, my first love. Have I really blown my chance at participating in "all" 2014 campaigns? --Lineagegeek (talk) 22:50, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
The above category is the oldest one of our project. It contains only 7 articles. It should be eliminated within this month.--Skr15081997 (talk) 05:48, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Honesty of a project member.
Article list
|
---|
April 2014
|
- Total articles: 64
Our project relies solely on the honesty of participants. When I saw the contribution history of the 2nd article, I heard the warning bell, Pratyya had never contributed to the article. The article still uses bare urls. I saw the contribution history of other articles and found no contribution in April from Pratyya to articles 8(1), 9(2),10 (3)and 23(4).
Bare url's still exist in the articles -3, 4,5 ,8,12,21,14,15,17,18,19,25,28,29,30,31,36,37,38,39,41,43,44,46,48,49,52,55,59,60,61 and 62. 47, 50 ,64 are still covered by the project. 21,11,14,27,28,34,53,59 and 63 still lack the required infoboxes. In 22,26 and 58 cite web template hasn't been used properly. In the article 57 of the above list, I had filled the references. So a total of more than 40 articles from the above list are covered by the project and need the attention of willing users. I have presented the log here and I leave it to the project co-ordinator Wilhelmina Will to decide whether such type of work can be permitted or not.--Skr15081997 (talk) 08:40, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- I've raised similar problems before, to no avail (many users share this behaviour). It was one of the contributing factors towards my estrangement from the Project. Part of the problem arises from the fact that no conditions are set for participation. At AfC, for instance, we've recently added a set of conditions for inclusion, specifically an edits and temporal minimum on Wikipedia. Users will always abuse the game-like system just for the barnstars, and unless conditions are set to weed them out, they'll continue to do so. They need to be addressed swiftly and responsibly, taking the appropriate measures so that it can't happen again. The problem with Wikify is that the only really active user is Wilhelmina; we can't expect a single person to tackle these issues. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 14:29, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- I haven't been editing Wikipedia for a while, but I think adding an edit minimum isn't a bad idea. I also think we could establish a "Quality Assurance Team" of sorts that skims through users' contributions and ensures that they are completing all the thinks that Wikification entails. If they aren't then they could get a warning, the second time a block from the next month's drive, etc. I wouldn't mind being on said team either, and I don't think it would take too much time (we wouldn't check all the articles) since it would be a once-a-month thing. Thoughts on this? TheCascadian 19:51, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- PS @Wilhelmina Will: you probably remember me as User:Gold Standard. TheCascadian 19:59, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not really the project coordinator, I just start the drives off when no one else has, and dish out the awards at the end. Aside from that, I've always considered myself simply one of the participants. As far as this issue goes, I suppose it has to be addressed, but other than simply fixing the problems Skr15081997 has pointed out, article by article, there isn't much I'm in the place to suggest. I'm just worried this might set the award distribution back a while; I like to get that done within a day of a drive's end so I know it's been done. Spring in Wikipedia is lovely! Just avoid the articles on flowers... (talk) 21:28, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- That's a good idea, similar to what's done in other Projects. Say, 10% or so of all listed articles would be checked by somebody other than the editor who did the wikification and they would pass/fail said work. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 01:03, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- There's nothing personal in presenting the above log. Actually when I saw the first article, I wanted to thank Pratyya because it was the article which I wanted to wikify. Streaming through the list I found what actually had been done. Pratyya had been a part of this project since a long time and when long time participants do such sort of thing then the motive of the project will be pushed into danger. Pjoef had always done the best work to articles. If you see through his log and check the corresponding history of the articles yo will find he had not only wikified but also made the article much better than it was before his work. Coming back to the above matter, I repeat it's nothing personal, but this issue needs to be addressed. If you let this go then I'm afraid we might find everyone doing the same.--Skr15081997 (talk) 03:30, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- As far as the award distribution is concerned I suggest it can be done without delay. For Pratyya the log has 24 articles (64-40(which are not wikified)), and there are no such issues for other participants. So it won't take much time, the 40 articles are part of the project and can be wikified in the next drive.--Skr15081997 (talk) 07:33, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

- Might be an idea to invite User:Pratyya Ghosh to this discussion... DoctorKubla (talk) 07:38, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
- As this concerns the honesty of mine I'm explaining the fact here. First of all I use Wikipedia:REFLINKS to check the rot links. 3 months ago I was a super active editor but due to real life issue I can't edit wiki like before. I'm editing today but God knows when I'll edit the next time. Now-a-days I rarely get time for wiki. Now straight to discussion. Previously I said that I use a tool to clear link rot. For example it was said that the 3rd article has problem but run thislink once. It says
No changes were necessary in [[Willie Aames]]
. That's why I removed the link rot from that article. Now one thing I use a 150kbps net. It costs me 2 minutes to load a normal wiki page and many websites doesn't load for slow net connection. So I really couldn't check every link and that's why trusted the tool. But in future I believe I've to do that painful work. But it's not my dishonesty. I've never been dishonest here. Anyway I don't know when I'll be able to post the next reply. So if you don't get a reply please don't lose your patience. At last I really gonna thank Mr.Skr15081997. Thanks for showing me my mistake.--Pratyya (Hello!) 13:48, 5 May 2014 (UTC)- The thing is just removing tags does not count as Wikifying, at least not in my book. If that were all Wikifying consisted of, I'd be Wikifying thousands of articles a day! What that does is actually hurting Wikipedia, given plenty of articles are left without tags that someday somebody would've acted on. What you've done simply constitutes gaming the system to obtain prizes, who knows for what purpose... FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- Focus is right about tag removal. During the April drive I concentrated on adding infoboxes to airline articles that did not have them and added around 90. I also removed the needs infobox tag from about another 70 that had appropriate infoboxes, but the editor that added the box failed to remove the tag -- not counted. I also ran into a handful of articles that had been merged without merging their talk pages or posting the appropriate merger notice to comply with Wikipedia's copyright requirements. This seemed to me to meet the generic "wikifying" definition, but I couldn't find a specific mention of the action. I counted them but added a note to my list in case whoever checked the scores disagreed with me, they could subtract them from my count. I'd suggest this if you're uncertain about what counts. It helps other editors to assume good faith when it gives some appearance that the system is being gamed. --Lineagegeek (talk) 22:31, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- All right guys I take the full responsibility for the action I did and I'm sorry for that. I don't want to use my valuable times in discussions. In future I'll try my best to avoid this kinda job. Again thanks to all of you. --Pratyya (Hello!) 06:18, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Wikify At Wikimania 2014
Hi all,
My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.
One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.
This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:
• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film
• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.
• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____
• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost
For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to: Project leaflets Adikhajuria (talk) 16:25, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- Dang! It would have been a good opportunity to raise awareness about the project. benzband (talk) 09:08, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
August Drive?
No notice, but I heard there may be an August drive going on. True? --Lineagegeek (talk) 23:09, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Lineagegeek: It appears there is one at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/2014/August, so I've just listed it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives. There is currently only one participant and less than a week left though so maybe we could launch a September Drive instead. We really need to send invitations (to project members who have subscribed to the newsletter) otherwise no one knows about these drives. benzband (talk) 09:07, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. In the past the drives have also been posted here, too. It had been a while since I'd seen a notice. Guess I'll try to get in a couple before the end of the month. --Lineagegeek (talk) 15:19, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Awards distribution
First off, I must apologize that, from the messages under the main header here, the August drive was not announced via invitation after it was started; I was certain there's a bot that's supposed to do that automatically. In the second place, for those users that did join the drive and enter wikified submissions, I must apologize for the long delay in the awards' distribution. Though I've been back from my wikibreak for several days, it only just occurred to me now. Without further hesitation, therefore, the job shall be seen to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
