Flag
I've recently made a lot of improvements to the Flag of Ecuador article, and it would be great if some other editors can take a look and double-check the content and if possible provide some references.AniRaptor2001 (talk) 22:08, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Montanita
It is very sad that there isn’t an actual page discussing the Montañita article. I have been working in the Montañita page and it has been very hard to find reliable and verifiable information. I wanted to write about its history but it was impossible to find good information. It was also very hard for me to work on the references. If anyone knows where to find info about Montañita or wants to improve the page, please contact me or do it yourselves. I am more than willing to work as a team. Artists in Ecuador
Hi everyone, I'm trying to add someone to the page of Artist in Ecuador and I guess I'm missing something that keeps on telling me that the page will be deleted, this man is a very talented man whom has dedicated his entire life to master the skills of Painting and Sculpturing but has gone invisible to this list, there are a few publications about his work that points out to the different monuments and sculptures he has created throughout the city. El Universo had an article in "La Revista" that talks about his work, I would like to add his name and references to this list, I think that we should all be proud of our local talents that merit recognition.Zybernet (talk) 00:07, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Guayaquil
Hello guys I just discovered this project about Ecuador. I created the article Canción al Nueve de Octubre translating it from wiki Spanish, I am still trying to add the link for the anthem to the Guayaquil page so it appears on the box to the right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Negrojimenes (talk • contribs) 14:21, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Ecuador fauna
Hi guys, I work on many of the frog and reptile articles on Wikipedia. I have noticed that there is a huge lack of South American frog photos, except for those in the pet trade. Would anyone be willing to go out and try and take some frog, and other fauna, photos which are not on Wikipedia yet? Especially those from the families which don't have a photo in List of Anuran families. Thanks --liquidGhoul 05:39, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Project directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 16:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of Wikipedia to take part in a larger celebration of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 20:20, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Bilateral relations discussion
I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:59, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Galapagos Project?
Would a Galapagos WikiProject be a good idea, or not? If not a WikiProject, a task force of this one? Basketball110 pick away... 00:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Project Status
I updated the project banner with new parameters and tagged the talk page of all the articles having an Ecuador category with the project banner (probably a few thousand). This should help publicize WikiProject Ecuador to those who may be interested in helping the project. I think just about every Wikipedia article that needs a WikiProject Ecuador on its talk page now has one. I added categories to Category:WikiProject Ecuador and added appropriate content to them. This should make it easier for the project to find things. The Transhumanist improved List of basic Ecuador topics to give the project a better idea of what new articles may be needed. I reorganized the project page to include subheading typical of a regional WikiProject. Also, I added Galápagos Islands task force and provided province subcategories to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ecuador to make it easier to match photo request with those able to take such a photograph. -- GregManninLB (talk) 15:21, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Ecuadorian music industry
I've been unable to find information pertaining to the Ecuadorian music industry, so I was hoping someone here could help me. Is there a Ecuadorian equivalent to the Recording Industry Association of America or British Phonographic Industry? Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme
As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.
- The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
- The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
- A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.
Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.
Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! For the 1.0 Editorial Team, §hepBot (Disable) 21:58, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Articles flagged for cleanup
Currently, 4025 articles are assigned to this project, of which 214, or 5.3%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Ecuador
Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.
We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 22:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Help request: 123 Ecuador-related articles needing geographical coordinates
Based on a search of Wikipedia's articles related to Ecuador, I've found some articles that I believe are about places in Ecuador, and could usefully have geographical coordinates added.
The articles in question are listed in Category:Ecuador articles missing geocoordinate data. At the time of writing, some examples included:
...and there are many more, as well. At the time of posting this notice, there were 123 articles in this category needing geographical coordinates.
Why add coordinates?
By adding coordinates, a Wikipedia reader can easily view the location on a street map, nautical chart, topographic map, by satellite photo, realtime weather map, and in many other ways. Coordinate data makes an article eventually appear in various services such as Google Maps' Wikipedia overlay, Google Earth, and Wikipedia's own internal map service. Coordinate data also helps readers looking for geographically-based data, such as locations near a reference point, or related information.
How can I do it?
The articles are all marked with {{coord missing}} tags, which need to be replaced with {{coord}} tags that contain the location's latitude/longitude coordinates; or you might be able to add coordinates to an existing infobox. You can find out how to do this at the Wikipedia:Geocoding how-to for WikiProject members. Please let me know if this is useful, or if you have any questions! -- The Anome (talk) 11:42, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
bothrops asper
I am new to this editing thing, and am loath to do anything for fear of screwing up royally. So... While looking for some basic info on the fer de lance (a s and c american pit viper that I have a little personal experience with) I came across this sentence at the end of the section on "Venom":
"It has been suggested that the venomous bite of B. asper was a factor in the choice of certain Mayan settlements such as Nim Li Punit, where the thick jungle inhabited by these snakes was used as a defensive boundary."[9]
This struck me as somewhat ludicrous because of my own personal history with the snake as WELL as previous statements within the article. When I followed the cite, sure enough there is nothing in the article to support the statement, it merely says that these snakes occured in the jungle... which I can assure you they do, they are just a fact of life down there.
But the statement implies that the Mayans picked their sites because of B. Asper. It is only suggested by the statement, not their site locations, or the referenced article.

Coordinators' working group
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 05:19, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Naming conventions
Does this project have naming conventions for any geographic places (specifically cities, town, villages, cantons, provinces) in Ecuador? If not, I suggest we establish one ASAP there seems to be a lack of one. Here are my suggestions:
- Quito & Guayaquil are fine.
- Province capitals should definitely be "City, Ecuador" (example: Cuenca, Ecuador)
- Same would probably apply to cities that fall in the top 10 in terms of populations, specifically Manta & Eloy Alfaro.
- Provinces seem fine, I suppose.
- Cantons... I dunno.
- Same goes for Parishes
- Towns and other cities... "City, next highest administrative unit" (example: urban parish Cotocollao, Quito; rural parishes would be treated as town, so "City, Canton" looks ok;
That's all I got for now. I think I have enough suggestions to build upon. Digirami (talk) 03:08, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Adding more...
- The basic format that seems to be going around is "Name, Higher unit". For example the canton of Cuenca would be "Cuenca Canton, Azuay". Adding Canton across the board would have to be necessary since "Cuenca, Azuay" or "Quito, Pichincha" could also refer to those cities; the addition of Canton clears that up.
- One rule of thumb to remember is what you have to keep the format consistent to all units. Digirami (talk) 02:31, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Settlement infobox parameters for provinces.
I just realized that the Province of Ecuador Infobox might potentially be deleted (possibly due to redundancy). In light of that, I have decided to post essential parameters of the Settlement Infobox for Ecuadorian provinces, as well as removing some parameters that might be unnecessary, in an effort to standardize the infobox for the articles. Montanita
I think this page describes the town of Montanita well. The problem is that it has a casual tone. I find a lot of assumptions and personal opinions instead of facts. As a former visitor of Montanita, I had the delight of listening to music being played at the plaza frequently. This page states that listening to certain kind of music constantly is a guarantee. This is a deviation from the truth and a mere assumption.
The use of colloquial expressions such as "hardcore surfers" could be replaced with "surfing aficionados" or "enthusiasts".
There is a statement about how Montanita has the best waves in the country, but there is no definition of what is considered "the best". If Montanita has the highest waves found in the country, then there should be a clarification that it is height what it is refered to. I did not understand the need to describe Manglaralto. I don't understand what is meant by Manglaralto being the alterego of Montanita. The statement seems subjective. Ecuador articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Ecuador articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

There is a big difference in the number of individuals, cited as composing the Cofan people, between the article in French and that in English. In the one in English, the given number is 1,500 to 2,100. And in the one in French is 800. Whereas, in the one in Spanish the population is not even mentioned. There is also something that is mentioned in the article in Spanish which is not brought up in neither of the former: the great contribution they made to the field of Science (Medicine) as they were contacted by Richard Evans Schultes. WikiWomen's History Month
Hi everyone. March is Women's History Month and I'm hoping a few folks here at WP:Ecuador will have interest in putting on events (on and off wiki) related to women's roles in Ecuador's history, society and culture. We've created an event page on English Wikipedia (please translate!) and I hope you'll find the inspiration to participate. These events can take place off wiki, like edit-a-thons, or on wiki, such as themes and translations. Please visit the page here: WikiWomen's History Month. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing events take place! SarahStierch (talk) 00:47, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.
If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none
parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Reviving the WikiProject
Current activity on the WikiProject Ecuador seems to have stalled a bit. I hope there are people willing to bring it back to live and help out. I'm just trying to be bold and thus I already started by setting up a bot for the WikiProjects's recognized content, if all works well we should probably see the results of that next week. I also divided the members into active and non-active so it is clearer who to collaborate with. I also set up an automatic archiving bot for this page, because it became too long.
Some other ideas and plans:
- The assessment section probably needs a revision, something which a group of members need to decide upon.
- I'll try to update the list of Missing articles.
- Cleaning up the WikiProject page. It has a whole lot of topics and subtopics, while quite some are empty.
- The Signpost had some ideas for improving semi-active WikiProjects. I'll try to set up some more of the bots that were mentioned.

- Glad that I discovered this WikiProject. I am particularly interested in the Galapagos, having done my college thesis on their volcanoes. I have joined the task for it, but I'm not sure how active it is. Please let me know if anything needs to get done. I can't say that I'm all that knowledgeable on Ecuadorian affairs that are not Galapagos related. Balon Greyjoy (talk) 07:22, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi and welcome! The task force unfortunately seems pretty unactive. And the main one for Ecuador isn't much more active either. Since you seem to be very knowledgeable about the volcanoes on the Galapagos you might wish to improve this article: List of volcanoes in Ecuador. It is tagged as having problems since 2007. If you wish to colloborate on any article I'm happy to help out. Crispulop (talk) 21:12, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
This stub (which I was stub-sorting) was created with an infobox but no text, and claims it has 189 students - but the only source seems (from my poor Spanish and Google translate) to be talking about a planned university. Could someone have a look at it please? Thanks. PamD 13:47, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- I did some work on it, but to be honest, the current status and progress of the University are somewhat vague to me as well. Crispulop (talk) 14:32, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Are these stories all talking about the same Japanese school?
I know there is a part-time Japanese school in Quito. I believe the Spanish name is "Colegio Japonés Auxiliar de Quito" (キト補習授業校).
I found these stories from El Telegráfo:
I know of these articles along with a Japanese one from a Brazilan publication:
- "エクアドル=キト補習授業校が入学式=今年から聴講生増やす" - April 18, 2014.
So are the two El Telegrafo articles talking about the same school or different schools? WhisperToMe (talk) 05:17, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
It has to be the same one, because the MEXT page (Archive) gives the address as: "Calle A, S/N Pusquii, Quito, ECUADOR" WhisperToMe (talk) 05:47, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Garish colours in tables, and unnecessary flag icons
Hi, I've looked at a few TV articles. Garish background colours in tables, and unnecessary use of country (and even city) flags in infoboxes. Flags are not decorations on en.WP; they need to be informational, and none I've seen is that. Tony (talk) 04:13, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
biased choice of sources
In the entry about the 2015 protests, there is a strong bias towards the use of right-wing anti-government media sources which very probably affect the accuracy and neutrality of the information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smukster (talk • contribs) 16:54, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Health in Ecuador
re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_in_Ecuador
Please excuse my unfamiliarity with the world of Wikipedia discussions. I value very highly the role of Wikipedia. As a regular Wikipedia reader and, now, resident of Ecuador for 4 years (without the benefit of special vaccinations) I have some concerns about the "Health in Ecuador" article. The opening of the article appears to have been written with an unwitting bias; one which yields to a seemingly outdated perspective on nations of South American in general and Ecuador in particular. Unfortunately, it gives the impression of having been written by an NGO which is a US State Department captive. For example, if, as the article suggests, the life expectancy is 78 in Ecuador then it is tied with that of the United States according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy. That hardly seems to suggest the degree of health risk to residents or visitors to Ecuador asserted in the opening paragraph of the article. More generally, the opening paragraph contains phrases such as: "The savagery of the environment makes not only citizens prone to being infected, but tourists as well." Sadly, the most charitable thing one can say about this sentence is that it is uninformed. For example, malarial mosquitos are unable to survive in the Sierra region due to the altitude which does not affect as many people as the article implies. In fact, I know personally of no persons coming here from sea level (to the Sierras) who had more than a mild, several week long effect from the altitude. The climate of the Sierras, far from being "savage" is exactly like Spring in the Northeastern US with occasional flourishes of early Summer. The coastal, tropical climate is pretty much like that of Cuba and parts of Mexico with temperatures in the 80s for 12 months of the year. The Amazon region has a rainforest clmate which is very warm and humid and in which one would encounter species of animals and plants very foreign to the average Euro-American reader. The writing of such an article really merits much more research. A quality assessment is needed as readers should know immediately that this is a very, very preliminary and possibly outdated view of Ecuador.
The opening line of the first paragraph paints with a rather overly broad brush the state of health in Ecuador about "lack of health care". There are, at a minimum, three systems of health care in Ecuador. The most prevalent is that of "Social Security" which has modern hospitals in the major cities and clinics widely dispersed throughout the country. All workers pay into this system which provides life-long, single payer health care, disability and pension benefits. Workers and their employers contribute to this at a rate slightly higher than that of FICA in the US. The facilities are ubiquitous, modern and staffed with doctors and nurses of much higher quality training that one might expect. Many, many of the medical practitioners of Ecuador have been trained in the world-renowned Escuela de Medicina Latinoamericana of Cuba. In fact, at this time, many (if not most) of the Professors of Medicine in Ecuadorian universities are Cuban. I do not know precise figures but I would hazard a guess that the doctor to inhabitant ratio in Ecuador is higher than that of the US. The second major health system is that of the "regional hospitals". In all major cities, these are hospitals and clinics open to all at no cost. Most of these have been or are being built anew in the last 10 years. While these are largely for persons outside normal workplace membership in the Social Security system, they are not (in my own personal experience and as one might suspect from outside) mostly filled with indigenous patients. Thirdly there are many private clinics to which most but not all people of wealth go. My own experience suggests that these private clinics do not have better facilities than those of the two public systems. The wealthiest persons with whom I am acquainted here use the public facilities with an occasional private consultation. The middle class / business owners, etc. do seem more often to use private clinics - to what end I am uncertain.
I will try to comment further at another time on this article and would be very open to discussing this further with those who have authored the existing piece but mostly research is what is needed. One quick note which might be helpful is to check maternal death rates and maternal and child nutrition rates in UN stats. The felicitous nature of all of these climates to plant growth appears to promote a level of nutrition which, while certainly not perfect, is unusual in a country that has a poverty rate about in the middle between the US and Mexico.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject
The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
Background
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:35, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Finding Guidelines - Style guide for articles
I recently joined this wiki project and am keen to contribute to expanding information about Ecuador within the English version of Wikipedia. I am thinking of writing an article about the Ecuadorian Restoration Front lead by [Febres Cordero]. The article/topic has been covered in Spanish but not in English. Would it be best to translate the English article or create my own?
More generally, is there a recommended way to structure articles about political movements in Ecuador? I was wondering if there was a style guide I could follow when designing, developing and creating my article? Or links to resources or examples that could help me with this. The style and guidelines information section of Wikiproject Ecuador doesn't yield any information about this. Unamaduraverde91 (talk) 11:58, 8 September 2018 (UTC)
