Great Lakes Circle Tour

There are 6 shields in all I'd like to request. There's one for the Great Lakes Circle Tour, plus the five individual tours. [1] TIA --Imzadi1979 (talk) 05:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Accept. I think that they are fair use and will need to be PNG. Carpetmaster101 15:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

The Lake Ontario tour doesn't appear to have its own sign per [2], probably because of the Seaway Trail in New York (which occupies half of the tour's route). (For the record, a sign for the Seaway Trail is already available on Wikipedia.) --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 18:58, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Onondaga County shields

Two GAs, County Route 41 (Onondaga County, New York) and County Route 236 (Onondaga County, New York), don't have shields yet. Their shields are most likely the default county route template. Merry Christmas, from ComputerGuy talk 18:03, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

ComputerGuy, they are shield-less on purpose. Onondaga County signs 1 county route in the entire county. That is #57, which is actually CR 91, along old alignment of New York State Route 57.Mitch32(Go Syracuse) 23:26, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

missing shields for County roads in St. Louis County, Minnesota

Hello !

I am requesting missing shield images for the article "County roads in St. Louis County, Minnesota", there are eight routes in the article that are missing the county shield images.

The routes with the missing shields are County Roads 5, 8, 25, 49, 52, 92, 93, and 100.

Hm...the file name should work, as I successfully migrated a shield for NY 383B to commons earlier today. Maybe it's an error in the file? – TMF 02:03, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Follow-up: it's definitely an error in the file as I was able to upload File:NY-952Q.svg, and I see no reason why "NY-917A.svg" wouldn't be accepted. – TMF 04:53, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Hundreds of Kentucky (circle) shields

Apologies for such a large request, but List of State Highways in Kentucky (1-1000) has hundreds of missing shields, and ImageRemovalBot has been steadily messing with the page, removing each shield one by one (for a total for 996 edits by the bot). As these are generic shields (the elongated circle shields) which can be used in other states, we should really have these shields. I'm guessing there are probably also some four-digit shields which need to be done too. I am rolling back its edits so you can see all the shields we need, but we should work quickly to fix the redlinks ASAP, as they look unprofessional. Probably the best idea here would be to split the shields up between several shield makers. It is advised to use some sort of auto-upload tool like Commonist to upload them upon completion. I will try to chip in when I can. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 21:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Why are the shields on the list in the first place? --NE2 02:20, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I haven't a clue. It looks like they've always been there. I'm guessing that all of these were OK when we used the Circle sign x.svg images for Kentucky, but when we introduced the elongated circle x.svg set, they were AWBed over, and then forgotten about. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 05:47, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I guess that I will start working on some of them. -- Carpetmaster101 00:58, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Old Oklahoma turnpike shields

Requesting shields for all turnpikes listed on {{Oklahoma Turnpikes}}. Goodhue County, Minnesota

Sorry, I also created a section of this on the "archive" page. I did not see the link to the new page.

Anyway, I recently created the page List of County Roads in Goodhue County, Minnesota. I have temporary signs that will not do in the long run, so I need signs specifically for Goodhue County.

I need county route signs for routes 1-9 now. I will create sections for 10-14, 16-18, 21-25 ASAP.

These routes are all signed with the standard blue pentagon.

Additionally, in the article U.S. Route 52 in Minnesota, there needs to be a sign for Dakota County route 47, and several Olmsted County routes. Dakota 47 and Olmsted 12 are the only routes in this group that use the standard pentagon. The others use the black-on-white square.

Commons blacklist?

I tried uploading Iowa US Route shields that followed Iowa's MUTCD, but Commons seems to be blacklisting again. I tried uploading as File:US XX (IA).svg. I'll re-save them to make sure it's not a corrupt file. --Fredddie 21:31, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

From my low-level regex experience, it looks like the "(IA)" is causing the file name to fall outside the whitelist regex. If you post to Commons:MediaWiki talk:Titleblacklist about this issue, they'll fix the whitelist regex to allow it. – TMF 21:47, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Nassau County shields

Can someone make shields for Nassau County NY? Some are already up. Here is a reference: [11] - Mitch32(Go Syracuse) 21:22, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Do you want the historic orange and blue shields or the standard color? Brandonrush Woo pig sooie! 14:36, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Probably the orange; Nassau County never used the MUTCD-standard blue signs (in fact, it was the MUTCD's stipulation that the signs be blue that led the county to junk the orange signs). – TMF 15:06, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I was under the impression that if signs were to be posted, they would have to be standard blue. I can do orange, however. You can take this if you want TMF, I can't do this for a few days anyway. If you don't want to, I can take this as well, but there will be a short delay. Brandonrush Woo pig sooie! 18:36, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I believe it was the 1972 MUTCD that first specified that county route shields had to be blue. Nassau's CR signage predated that time, which was why they were allowed to be orange. They could have remained orange past 1972; however, Nassau County wouldn't receive external funding to maintain the signs since they weren't MUTCD-compliant. As a result, the county elected to remove all of the signage rather than spend the money to replace them all.
As for the request, I might have time to do this. Got a couple other things going on at the moment, so I dunno. – TMF 18:45, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I added some of the two-digit shields (some were already there), but do not have a template for the three-digit ones. I also added the links to every shield (available or not) to List of county routes in Nassau County, New York. Brandonrush Woo pig sooie! 18:22, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
It looks like the 2A shield still has text for the number instead of a converted path that was text. As for the three-digit routes, they use the same format as the two-digit ones; the route number is small enough that placing a three-digit number on the shield will work. – TMF 19:56, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Done Thank you TMF, you saved me much time by pointing out that three digits fit on the two digit shield. Good catch on File:Nassau County Route 2A NY.svg. Brandonrush Woo pig sooie! 21:28, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

There are a lot more routes :| - see here: Steve Anderson's list - Mitch/HC32 22:52, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

NY shields need changing

Completed portion of request

According to a contact from the New York State Department of Transportation and their MUTCD supplement, the shields we are using for NY touring routes is off. The shields we are looking for are like the ones used in Mark Sinsabaugh's NY routes site. This would apply for most routes (Note; Use Wiki listings please).

[12] has a higher-resolution image of the "correct" shields on page 83. – TMF 02:27, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Eh, you know what, I'll take this. I have a couple of SVG mockups of the "new" 2-digit and 3-digit shields around here somewhere... – TMF 02:44, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Found them. I cleaned them up slightly (node cleanup) and uploaded a couple of "pilot" shields for the blank (File:NY-blank.svg) and NY 88 (File:NY-88.svg). – TMF 02:57, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Pardon my asking, what's so different? I looked at the examples and I don't see what's different. --Fredddie 03:04, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
To an average reader, there isn't really any difference. However, to the "hardcore" NY roadgeeks, our shields had become a bit of fodder for putting down this site because of how quirky it was, namely how wide the hump on top was, how little "black" space there was at the bottom of the shield, and how our numbers were 13" (I suppose) high instead of the MUTCD-specified 12". All of the current shields were made and uploaded prior to New York releasing a publicly available sign drawing for its shields; now that they have, it makes sense to update ours, even if in the long run there isn't much to gain from this. It's all about being accurate IMO. – TMF 13:17, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I should point out that there is some precedent for this: when the new Oklahoma shields came out, our initial shields were an approximation of them. However, when users found the OK sign detail, they were redone and replaced. The first was probably passable to the casual reader, but clearly wrong, and I feel that's the case here with the New York shields as well. – TMF 13:21, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Now that shields are being updated, I can see it's quite a difference. --Fredddie 20:38, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
All two-digit and one-digit suffixed routes have been updated. I'll work on the remaining routes later tonight. – TMF 16:13, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, I plan on finishing off the remaining shields today. I'll admit, I've been contacting several "in-the-know" NY roadgeeks throughout this process; however, none of them have given me any indication of how good or bad my new three-digit shields are. To me, they look like they're done exactly per the NY MUTCD supplement specs, so I'm not going to wait for feedback any longer as I'd like to get this finished off ASAP. – TMF 15:38, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
This part of the request is virtually  Done; just waiting on Commons to change the whitelist to allow the two new NY shield type conventions. Once that is done, the 1960s NY 382 and NY 393 shields will be moved to the 1960s NC and they'll be replaced at NY-x.svg by the modern design. As of this moment, those are the only two shields that have not been updated. – TMF 01:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Now completely  DoneTMF 16:09, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Also, dunno if we can, but is it possible to have shields made for the following articles in this style? They would apply to:

Sure there are more, but that's all I can think of.Mitch/HC32 02:16, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Wait...some of these routes existed past 1962, and some well past that date. You told me of a sign with the current NY design (with the "NY" in the hump but otherwise current design) that was put up in January 1962, so any routes that existed past that time don't really need these shields. NY 16A and NY 31D were both in existence in January 1962. Others may have been as well. – TMF 14:22, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, I wasn't thinking with 16A and 31D because I thought both were canned before the 60s. Now for NY 382, I uploaded a new shield with the current/with NY atop.Mitch/HC32 14:26, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
But do you know when this shield style was changed? – TMF 14:27, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
By 1975 according to this pic: of NY 25 in comparison to this from 1972 of NY 17, 17M, 207 and US 6.Mitch/HC32 14:35, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Aright...so that has at least set up two ground rules: nothing after 1962 gets a cutout, and nothing after 1975 gets the "NY" hump. Still need to narrow this down more though before this goes wide-scale. – TMF 14:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
For the cutouts - here is a real one of those (no replica): NY 31 - Mitch/HC32 14:45, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
So...we're going to need a naming convention for both of the proposed shield sets. I'd rather not upload anything from either set to the existing NY-x.svg convention, because if NYSDOT ever reuses one of the currently unused designations, we would have to move the image anyway. I believe the NY-x.svg convention should be restricted to the current (post-1975) NY shields only, while the cutouts should be at "NY-x (cutout).svg" and the "NY humps", for lack of a better term, should be at "NY-x (1960s).svg". I like the cutout NC very much, the other...not so much. Thoughts from others? – TMF 20:51, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Support but, as I brought up on IRC, most of the aforementioned designations won't be used again.Mitch/HC32 21:16, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Still, I'd prefer to be consistent. I'd rather have a type (like "type=cutout" or "type=old") devoted to the shields than have them spread across two or three conventions and guess which one will bring them up. – TMF 21:27, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Aright, I tentatively plan on working on this tonight or sometime later in the week. I have a cutout SVG made and ready to go, and I'm sure you've seen the "twist" I put on the 1960s-era shield for NY 382. As I proposed above, that shield will be moved to "NY-382 (1960s).svg" and "NY-382.svg" will be replaced with a modern one. The necessary types for {{infobox road}} (probably "NY old" and "NY cutout") will be set up shortly afterward. – TMF 15:38, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

I can see the use for a New York State Route 161A shield. As you might know, I've been working on eliminating redlinks on Road articles with similar names, mostly in New York so far, and I found out about the former NY 161A. So when I'm done with that, it could go on the existing completion list, and on the New York State Route 161 page as well. ----DanTD (talk) 11:56, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I uploaded a template for the cutouts to File:NY-x (cutout).svg. For now, I ask that only routes that did not make it out of the 1930s receive cutout shields. We can loosen the range up later on if/when we figure out when the changeovers happened. – TMF 06:30, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

We should also make cutouts for the 1920s routes and all of the routes assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering. The justification behind the first is that those routes meet the "did not make it out of the 1930s" guideline; the reason for the latter is that any articles for routes that did not make it out of the 1930s will likely need cutouts of other, possibly currently existing routes, for junctions. – TMF 00:31, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Texas Toll roads

Ok, after going through the Texas routes, I have found out that most of the Toll Texas routes have the wrong color scheme. The original version created by TXDoT had white signs with blue numbering. Now that a few years have passed and signs have gone up, it turns out that most are the inverse: blue background with white numbering. The bottom section with the Texas flag and the word "Toll" has not changed. After examining all the State Toll routes in Texas, the following signs need fixing: file:Toll Texas 1.svg, file:Toll Texas 45.svg, file:Toll Texas 99.svg, file:Toll Texas 121.svg, file:Toll Texas 130.svg, and file:Toll Texas 255.svg. We also need a new Toll Texas 161 sign. Strangely, Toll 49 does not need changing, as it uses the blue text on white background. Thanks! 25or6to4 (talk) 22:32, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

According to the sign specs what we have is correct. Do you have a picture or new spec? --Fredddie 23:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Any updates here? No rush. 25or6to4 (talk) 04:04, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm reluctant to fulfill this request because the specs show something different than what's posted and thus being requested. The different design may be the new standard, but until the specs are updated one could also assume that the different design is the result of contractor error. – TMF 04:37, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I have no issues with this. We can wait for now and hopefully Texas will get this figured out. Consider this request withdrawn. 25or6to4 (talk) 03:34, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Try entering |marker_image=[[Image:Business plate.svg|70px|alt=A rectangular highway plate bearing the word "BUSINESS"]]<br>[[Image:US 34.svg|70px|alt=A highway sign in the shape of the United States shield bearing the number "34"]] at the top of the infobox. You'll get something like:
A rectangular highway plate bearing the word "BUSINESS"
A highway sign in the shape of the United States shield bearing the number "34"
and you'll be good to go. Added benefit, the ALT text is written out for you. Imzadi1979 (talk) 04:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
P.S. You could merge that article into U.S. Route 34 in Colorado and use {{infobox road small}}, and that template will generate the shield correctly. If you do that, remember to turn the link above into a redirect to the right section of the article. Imzadi1979 (talk) 04:07, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll do that later, if someone finds my article too insignificant. If you'll notice, Colorado has its own infobox, where you don't have to enter the code for the image. So how do I input it? Pzoxicuvybtnrm 02:12, 26 March 2010 (UTC) Oops. I tried it, and it worked. Pzoxicuvybtnrm 02:14, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, the general consensus at WT:USRD is that business loops in general should not have a separate article unless it has a significant history on its own. I'd say this article doesn't qualify. Imzadi1979 (talk) 03:40, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks for merging it. Pzoxicuvybtnrm 03:35, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Florida State Road shields, again

I'm requesting another round of Florida State Road shields for the completion list, and at least one road article. I'm still waiting for the others, though. ----DanTD (talk) 20:52, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Texas FM/RM roads

Requesting shields for Farm to Market Roads 2419-2423 and 2425 (example). I plan to create these articles in the near future and need the shield for them. Thanks, Griffinofwales (talk) 01:40, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Would it be possible to create a county route shield for

  • Converse County Route 19
  • Converse County Route 30
  • Converse County Route 24
  • Converse County Route 32
  • Converse County Route 5
  • Converse County Route 17
  • Converse County Route 18

for an article I am creating that needs the shield? Thanks, Ngs61 (talk) 16:23, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Are these on the standard blue pentagons? Imzadi1979 (talk) 07:56, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Colorado 129

I need a shield for Colorado State Highway 129. No such article exists, but one is needed in State Highways in Colorado in the "Former" section. --PCB 03:50, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Would it be the current style or the old COLO style? —Fredddie 04:18, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Even older. It says "Colorado" on the top.--PCB 17:03, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Clear Creek CR 60

I need a shield for Clear Creek CR 60. It's a standard blue pentagon. --PCB 17:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing Colorado, but you really should let us know what state this is for. —Fredddie 21:31, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh! I'm sorry. That was totally unintentional. Yes, it is Colorado. --PCB 19:20, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

More Colorado CR shields

I need two more shields for Montrose CR 59 and 90. (Both are in Colorado.) --PCB 23:22, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Another round of Florida CR shields

Once again, I'm requesting another random series of shields of the following County Roads in Florida:

Are these too many? ----DanTD (talk) 21:43, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

They show up for me. – TMF 01:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I still don't see them. What's that trick that you're supposed to do with the page when simply pushing the refresh button doesn't work? ----DanTD (talk) 01:39, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Try purging the cache. If you don't have the gadget installed, click the edit tab. When the edit screen comes up, change the action=edit to action=purge and hit return. That will purge the cache for the page. Imzadi1979 (talk) 01:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
That's it; Purge. ----DanTD (talk) 02:25, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Yup. That worked. -----DanTD (talk) 02:27, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
There's also a setting in your user preferences, under gadgets, that puts a clock in the top right corner. The clock doubles as a link to purge the current page's cache. --Fredddie 03:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Suffolk County Route 38A

Saratoga-Rensselaer County(NY) Roads 125

If it's not going to overwhelm the shields department, and the shields aren't available(and so far, I don't think they are), I could use two new County Road shields for Saratoga CR 125 and Rensselaer CR 125 for the List of fixed crossings of the Hudson River, a potential article on Stillwater Bridge (Hudson River, New York), and the existing article on the Schuylerville Bridge. The existing shields for the Stillwater Bridge are incorrect, but I'm going to find a way to write them into the article(or maybe some other article), so that they won't be deleted. ----DanTD (talk) 22:58, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

It probably wouldn't be that urgent, but Saratoga and Rennselaer Counties make 3di shields different. Saratoga does the normal pentagon while Rennselaer signage is mostly wide.Mitch32(Growing up with Wikipedia: 1 edit at a time.) 16:34, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Done Interestingly enough, I made a shield for Rensselaer CR 120 a while back, so I knew its three-digit shields are wide. —Fredddie 16:43, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Ocean CR 680 NJ

Can this be made? I know it wasn't ever signed, but it was proposed as the replacement to NJ 180 and I need the shield.Mitch32(The Password is... See here!) 18:09, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Add a svg version of this.Mitch32(The Password is... See here!) 21:23, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
For the Dowd Avenue sign, it may be better to use the actual street sign design used by the city of Elizabeth. Dough4872 (talk) 22:17, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Why? The state made the sign?Mitch32(The Password is... See here!) 22:23, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm talking about the city-installed street signs on the ground, not the NJDOT-installed overhead signs. Dough4872 (talk) 13:55, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Then make both, but those overheads are unique because the state are idiots.Mitch32(The Password is... See here!) 13:57, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
I know the overheads erroneously show the road as NJ 81. Dough4872 (talk) 14:02, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

A few more Florida CR shields

The last round of Florida County Road sheilds are much appreciated, as well as the ones from New York. That doesn't mean there aren't others that are needed.

Recently, I've been finding a lot of County Road shields in Sumter County, that I never knew existed. I thought they were mostly street name signs(well, most of them are anyhow). So, I'm sure I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for them. ----DanTD (talk) 17:00, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about archiving CR 441; all those done templates made it look like everything was done. Double checking, I see it wasn't done. —Fredddie 17:06, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
