Hi! I just resubmitted a short article about Student Loan Hero. The problem previously was that I didn't have enough major citations to prove the notability -- I have added some additional citations of reviews of Student Loan Hero, and (maybe more importantly?) I've added citations of coverage of Student Loan Hero studies by CNBC, USA Today, and the Motley Fool. I was hoping that would suffice as significant coverage, and since my citations cover four years, that it would also satisfy the "coverage over time" requirement. But that said, I wanted to proactively ask for help in case I'm totally missing the point here. I'd greatly appreciate any guidance in terms of adding further material -- there are literally hundred of places on the web where Student Loan Hero and/or its research is cited or covered, but most of them are small blogs, so I stuck to the relatively well-known sources. Also, I left out media coverage of Student Loan Hero's founder, since that didn't seem to fit with the Wikipedia guidelines on notability, but I'd be happy to add coverage of him (since the reports always cover him in the context of his founder of Student Loan Hero). Thanks for any help on this!

I'm new to Wikipedia. I started the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Andreoni and it was assessed as Start-Class. What action should I take next to make sure the article is improved, and kept on Wikipedia? Thanks.

Hi, Laura.k.gee. Start-class is described at WP:Start-Class as The article has a usable amount of good content but is weak in many areas. Quality of the prose may be distinctly unencyclopedic, and MoS compliance non-existent. The article should satisfy fundamental content policies, such as BLP. Frequently, the referencing is inadequate, although enough sources are usually provided to establish verifiability. No Start-Class article should be in any danger of being speedily deleted. My article is on an author who has published two books , both of which are on videos, podcasts, Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and noble an others. But I do not know what you mean by references Where do I get references besides podcast, and book sellers? Jrgregg (talk) 21:01, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jrgregg. You need to find people other than John Randall Gregg who has written about the Gregg. Those are what we call Independant sources. They must also be reliable. These sources should not be associates of Gregg, nor people trying to sell copies of his books. They should not be blogs or fan sites. Reviews of Gregg's work in mainstream publications are likely to be helpful, as are newspaper or magazine articles about him, if they are not primarily local in scope. Books in which he is discussed would also be helpful. Directory entries are not helpful. Neither are very brief mentions of Gregg. Neither is purely local coverage. Each source should have significant discussion of Gregg, say 3-4 paragraphs or more. Sources need not be online, although it is easier to asses them if they are. See Referencing for Beginners for information on how to cite sources and use them as references, Jrgregg. Also if you are John Randall Gregg yourself, writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. In any case, if you are related to or connected with Gregg, you have a conflict of interest, and should declare it as described at WP:COI. You can use {{connected contributor}} for this purpose. Hi! Writing to get feedback on my page created for Upfront Ventures, which was declined. Reasons listed for decline are that the tone isn't neutral and that there are a lack of independent, reliable, published sources. The tone appears neutral to me, and there are 47 citations, almost all from independent sources like NYTimes, TechCrunch, Los Angeles Times, and so on. I've also modeled the page itself and citations included after other pages about VC firms (see: Benchmark (venture capital) and Greycroft).

If I delete the following two passages, would that help? - "...and was deemed "the largest and most active investor" in the Los Angeles area by CB Insights." - "The firm is active in calling for diversity and gender equality in venture capital. It supports All Raise, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting diverse funders and founders in the tech industry; Upfront partner Kara Nortman is an inaugural member. Hello, JudeJBMalcolm. Yes removing those would help. I would also remove the whole "Key people" section. And the whole draft could stand some re-writing, trying to avoid marketing-speak throughout. Try to be neutral and factual. You have many cited sources, over 45 of them, which makes it hard to determine which ones are supposed to establish the notability of the firm. See our guideline on the notability of businesses. Try to remove cited sources that only mention Upfront in passing, or very briefly, such as http://campfire-capital.com/retail-ipo-and-acquisitions/secondhand-clothing-site-thredup-raises-81-million-at-valuation-around-500-million/ and similar sources, and focus on sources that actually write about the firm. Also, JudeJBMalcolm, you wrote my page created for Upfront Ventures. Just what is your relationship with Upfront? If they have hired you or an agency you work for, or you are an employee or intern of theirs, you must declare that in accordance with our policy on paid editing before making any more edits about the firm.
