04:15:54, 14 April 2015 review of submission by Brandongjy93

[edit]

The comment I got due to rejection was: "The "How to" e;events and prohibited items sections suggest this is promotional

Many of the references are regurgitated press releases and PR material. These must be replaced or removed, please. They provide an aura of faux notability which is not required and adds no value. Indeed it diminishes Wikipedia's value."

However, when I viewed a company from the same "industry" wiki page for instance, eBay, they were allowed to publish their prohibitory items as part of their content. Why is this so? Shouldn't there be standardization for every wiki page?

Also, as mentioned there were credibility issues raised with regards to my sources. What then will equate to being a good source if I were to retrieve most sources from the web? Online news article on Carousell for example? Please assist. Thank you.

@Brandongjy93: On Wikipedia, the argument that similar articles exist doesn't wash. Please read our guidance about reliable sources to find appropriate sourcing for your company advertisement. Chris Troutman (talk) 04:19, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 06:11:17, 14 April 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Abbaspourtamijani

[edit]

Hello, I am creating an article about my dad but since it has the same last name as mine, I have received this message indicating that the article needs to be moved to the user page. How can you help me fix this?

Abbaspourtamijani (talk) 06:11, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, you have not, or, rather, not exactly. What you have received is part of the review process on Draft:Mohammad Hossein Abbaspour Tamijani, where I have declined the draft for the reasons given. Your job now is to edit to to deal with those issues and resubmit it for further review.
You have also received a welcome notice, a generic notice, which assumes that you have written an autobiography. Since this is not so you may ignore that with pleasure. Fiddle Faddle 06:38, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I had submitted a page creation request for this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Meritnation , but the reviewer asked for more citations / references.

I have now edited the page and added citations / references from leading news sites for all the facts mentioned therein.

I request you to review the content again.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Vivekgupta23 (talk) 10:47, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done I've submitted the draft for you this time. In the future, when you feel a draft is ready for review, you can submit it yourself by following the instructions at WP:WIZA. Thanks, wia (talk) 11:34, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

15:42:20, 14 April 2015 review of submission by Jonfostersmith

[edit]

I am standing on May 6th to bring digital democracy to UK Parliament, so this is urgent... Digital Democracy is a party registered with the UK Electoral Commission in March 2015 [1]. It will form policy from the app www.truedemocracy.uk as well as other respected digital democracy apps. A basic page is needed to correspond with candidacy listing on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenilworth_and_Southam_(UK_Parliament_constituency) MAny thanks"

Jonfostersmith (talk) 15:42, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On the contrary, this is not urgent at all. Wikipedia does not have, nor need, articles about every political party registered with the UK Electoral Commission. Your organisation must meet the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) in order for an article about it to exist on Wikipedia. Official Monster Raving Loony Party is an example of a UK political party that meets those requirements... though the sources provided for its Wikipedia article could be improved. As has already been recommended to you, you should be aware of policy Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 15:58, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonfostersmith: This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. If you would like to start writing a new article, please use the Article wizard. If you have an idea for a new article, but would like to request that someone else write it, please see: Wikipedia:Requested articles. I hope this helps.
You have previously started the Draft:True Democracy Party (UK) article. There are some suggestions for improvement at that page already, so perhaps you can work on that article instead of creating a new one. However, I will warn you to read carefully Wikipedia's policy on conflicts of interest. Conflict-of-interest editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. I hope this is helpful! wia (talk) 15:52, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

16:33:58, 14 April 2015 review of submission by Emma Stanley

[edit]

Hello, I do not understand why the article about Dean Constantin has not been inserted. Based on my understanding, the guidelines are dully respected. If anyone could help resolving what is missing, I will be glad working on the related issue. Thank you very much. Emma

Emma Stanley (talk) 16:33, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Emma Stanley: The problem is that the sources you have given are either unsuitable (eg: IMDB, other Wikipedia articles) or don't give us sufficient information to show why he should have a Wikipedia article. On the "Submission declined" box, you can see some links to search for other sources, one of which is this news search which brings back several hits mentioning him. The sources are mostly non-English (mainly French, one Romanian), but if you can pick out sufficient information from those, they could be used. Request on 21:13:04, 14 April 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Etica

[edit]

Dear editors, we are surprised by the rejection of the Metropolitan Touring entry as we modeled it closely on the existing Hilton Hotel entry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilton_Hotels_%26_Resorts). The rejection also notes a lack of independent sources, but all sources we indicated as footnotes are independent. We would therefore appreciate a more precise review of the submission, indicating specific points wherein the text reads like advertising, so that we can change this.

Kind regards Etica

Etica (talk) 21:13, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Etica: It's not a good idea to use an arbitrary Wikipedia article as an example to base yours off of. Since anyone can edit Wikipedia, existing articles are of varying quality. If you visit the Talk page of the Hilton article and click on "show" next to the Wikiproject banners, you will see that it is only rated "Start-class" on those project's quality scale. You would be better off using B-class, Good, and Featured articles as examples instead.
As to your sources, Wikipedia requires that you show significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article. The Cruise Critic reviews are user-generated and therefore not reliable sources. The other sources aren't significant coverage of the company itself -- they are mostly about the destinations or a certain ship/property. --Ahecht (TALK

@Etica: I'll add also that some of the "Current Properties" section of the draft reads rather promotionally. Sentences like "La Pinta, a 207-foot yacht, is considered one of the top luxury vessels sailing the archipelago, and designed for the luxury segment in the tourism market" could be interpreted as an advertisement for the boat. Phrases like "top luxury vessel" are often peacock words and should be avoided. wia (talk) 21:45, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The biographical data I submitted in December 2013 on Ralph Hodsdon Leavitt was published this month in On-Point, an Army History Journal, April 2015 with title "One Soldier's Experiences in War," as well as with many illustrations. Author is same. Dr. Ellen NicKenzie Lawson. Is there anyway you can now publish this info on Leavitt given that it is similar to published information and is no longer simply primary research? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.212.233.156 (talk) 21:55, 14 April 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

@71.212.233.156: You can request that your article be restored at WP:REFUND/G13, add the appropriate sources, and submit it for review. --Ahecht (TALK
