06:21:08, 23 July 2014 review of submission by 2601:C:AD00:538:7DB0:3540:5C1A:36FC

[edit]

I totally do not understand why my article formatting is cause for rejection. The only thing I can possibly think of is the usual contents section. The comment about a vague "wikistandards" is patently and objectively unhelpful and diffucult to understand. WHY IS THIS ARTICLE NOT GOOD ENOUGH? 2601:C:AD00:538:7DB0:3540:5C1A:36FC (talk) 06:21, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article, Draft:Paul Persons, is good enough, albeit as a eulogy, not as an encyclopaedic article (hence the 'essay' comment). The reviewers have missed the fact that, as written, you do not show the gentleman to be notable in a WIkipedia sense, despite being notable to those who knew and loved him. He seems to have been a decent man doing decent things, and the draft shows that, but it does not show the added 'stuff' that qualifies him for an article. I am a decent man doing decent things, but my life does not warrant an article.
For this to be accepted you need to alter the style and tone to be "Dull but Worthy" and show that he passes WP:BIO.
Please do not forget to log in, and to link to articles you are asking about, Not using ALL CAPITALS will also get you better servcie. I chose to ignore that foible. Fiddle Faddle 06:36, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Did something go wrong for you? Your draft is pretty much empty. Fiddle Faddle 08:35, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please contribute by understanding what is required. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and requires articles that are suitable for such a vehicle. Fiddle Faddle 08:37, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Afsar Khan Hunzai. An article on this topic already exists. Please see Letter of credit. You may contribute to the existing article if you wish, but note that any additions to that article must be referenced to independent published sources. I want to know why the article was declined. Ojadeyemi (talk) 13:47, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It is extremely promotional in tone, and as the message at the top explains, virtually none of the information in the article is cited to reliable sources. Yunshui  13:57, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why my article keeps getting rejected. If you could let me know which sources aren't being accepted, I can get working on them now. Thanks a lot.

Have you read the explanation left on Draft:Chris Styles by the reviewer? It is pretty specific. Compare all your references against [[WP:42}} and you will start to understand. Fiddle Faddle 17:14, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, my name is Timmy and I am trying to setup a wikipedia page for my husband as a surprise. He recently won two golds and a silver at the USKA World Karate Championships. I guess, I just don't know what I did wrong as far as using copyrighted material. Could you guys please help me? Thanks so much. Timmy

Timi0701 (talk) 17:09, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can't tell either. Please simply find references for the gentleman and wrote your draft around those. If he is notable then the page will be fine after review and edits. Fiddle Faddle 17:12, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am just wondering why the draft for YellowHatMan was declined and what I can do to strengthen the article. Thank you for your time! Klangham (talk) 18:33, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can read WP:42 and find references that show that it has notability. It doesn't look as if it has, yet. Fiddle Faddle 18:36, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

19:25:45, 23 July 2014 review of submission by JanaGibson

[edit]

Hi, I have created an article, titled Josh Garrett. He holds the record for the fastest known time on the Pacific Crest Trail. As this is my first wikipedia article I created it in drafts as advised. However I now learn that there is a three week backlog. Meanwhile, while half a dozen people have attempted to break Garrett's record this season and one seems like he may succeed, and that may happen within three weeks, before the article goes up, which would be unfortunate. So I am wondering if I should go ahead and put it up directly, without waiting for approval of the draft. I believe it meets Wiki's requirements as it is sourced by publications such as the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and National Public Radio, all of which fact check carefully, and I have added some TV and radio quotes from Garrett, with their original air dates published and with links to copies of the interviews that can still be heard on line.

Would you advise me to go ahead and put the article up as it is time sensitive? Garrett will still be well known and newsworthy if somebody else grabs the record but it seems to make sense that the article goes up while he still holds the title.

Thank you for your advice.

Jana

There is no rush. If he is notable today that will not fade tomorrow. Fiddle Faddle 19:54, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
no Declined with a substantive rationale on the article. There seriously is no rush and the article needs some development before it can be accepted. Other reviewers may have different opinions, naturally. Fiddle Faddle 20:22, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

20:36:40, 23 July 2014 review of submission by 86.139.201.5

[edit]

I do not understand where you think I have used copyright material. There are refernces to a recent book but that is for convenience. All the material is in the public domain. Indeed the auther acknowledges my assitance in the writing of the book. The primary sources are mainly newspaper article of about 1903 and papers in the Rodewald Concert Society Archives which are available to the public. I was instrumental in setting up this archive as Honorary Secretary of the Rodewald Concert Society. 86.139.201.5 (talk) 20:36, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me, but I cannot yet see why you are asking about copyright material in this draft? Please would you care to expand on your comment? Fiddle Faddle 20:41, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Shoptech

I received an email two days ago to the effect that the article I submitted back in November may soon be deleted. Rankersbo apparently posted it to my talk page.

a. How do I respond directly to Rankersbo? b. It appears the article has already been deleted, and I followed the instructions to get it back into draft form. c. The original denial was never fully explained. How can I get that?
