| This page in a nutshell: This page gives guidance on categorising aero engine articles and lists the known categories for quick reference. |
Aero engine articles are categorised inline with the guidance at Wikipedia:Categorization.
- Engines
Engines are usually categorised by type, era (defined by first run date and sorted into decades) and manufacturer. Categories should be kept as specific as possible using sub-categories, for example the Rolls-Royce Trent appears in Category:High-bypass turbofan engines but not Category:Turbofan engines. It also appears in Category:Rolls-Royce aircraft gas turbine engines but not Category:Rolls-Royce.
- Manufacturers
Engine manufacturers are categorised by nationality and also their trading status, for example the de Havilland Engine Company appears in Category:Defunct aircraft engine manufacturers of the United Kingdom and not Category:Aircraft engine manufacturers of the United Kingdom.
