Template:Canterbury Tactix roster (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:Southern Steel roster (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

these were all single-use templates, until I merged them with the articles. I had noticed that the Southern Steel one was out-of-sync with the article, so I merged that one, and then just went ahead and merged the rest. I would be happy to undo the merging if there is consensus to keep these separate. Frietjes (talk) 21:51, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

single use templates, which should be simply merged with the articles and deleted. if we need to keep the history for attribution, then move to a subpage and redirect. Frietjes (talk) 17:28, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:A1120 and B1120 (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Propose deletion Template:A1120 and B1120. This template has very few merits. We don’t need to be creating templates for settlements on every road in every country. There are road articles which include wikified links to settlements. This information isn't quite suited to a navigation template, as the articles included aren't sufficiently numerous. Of the five primary navbox guidelines, this one only fits #2 well and #1 marginally. Chronopher (talk) 16:50, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • DeleteThere might be a case for this navbox if there was scope for more articles, but unless there are plans a foot for a dozen or so New Towns on these roads it will not expand. the Navbox is not needed to cross-linking so few pages. The settlements can be linked to the road on each article and vice versa.Billhob (talk) 16:52, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Dennisbluie point above, The only thing of note to say about the B1120 road is where it goes to.Chronopher (talk) 22:04, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Alaska cities and mayors of 30,000 population (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:Maryland cities and mayors of 50,000 population (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

There are a few dozen states that have a sufficient number of cities with more than 100,000 in population to make these templates meaningful. As a group they have endured a deletion that was overturned and a second one that closed as no consensus. However, if we start adding all kinds of arbitrarily defined related templates for smaller population thresholds, we are likely to have them all be deleted. Thus, I propose that we get rid of these two templates that will muddle the water for the whole batch.TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 07:55, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support I just saw one of these added to Frederick, Maryland and it really confused me. I don't see these serving a really good purpose, at least not with the current threshold. Though it might be worth noting there really isn't that many cities in Maryland with over 50,000 people let alone 100,000. Zell Faze (talk) 14:46, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete, let's keep the threshold at 100,000. Frietjes (talk) 21:53, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – as for the other template; from an Alaskan perspective, this would make sense if it were to also include borough mayors. Then again, that's the sort of thinking outside the box which tends to be highly discouraged on Wikipedia. Regardless, with or without the inclusion of borough mayors, there's a distinct lack of meaningful links between articles. The other problem I see is that this attempts to impose a Wikipedian way of thinking on reality, seeing as how I'm viewing party designations next to the names, yet all municipal offices in Alaska are strictly defined as nonpartisan offices. To boot, it misidentifies Dan Sullivan as a Democrat. I'm not buying a numerical threshold as a valid argument. Variations of that argument go far in explaining the general discouragement in writing about what's notable about local areas, including Alaska. Correspondingly, coverage of Alaska has been heavily skewed towards cut-and-pasted "official disinformation". My favorite: Tuntutuliak Airport, described as being "located one nautical mile (1.85 km) south of the central business district of Tuntutuliak" Um, yeah, right. That sort of clueless garbage is repeated in scores of articles, both about airports and about other subjects. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 03:21, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment the "common" template should use a generic name, not "college", as that denotes different things to different people. {{Infobox school athletics}} would be a better title (though it still sports the problematic "athletics" word (these are not just track-and-field templates, it's being used in the North American manner to mean sports) -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 02:13, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
