[edit]MTO offices that offer knowledge or written test in Toronto only
[edit]How many offices does the MTO have in Toronto and which one offer knowledge tests? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.89.42.28 (talk) 02:42, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Our article Ministry of Transportation of Ontario lists all the offices, which includes part of the headquarters and one of the regional offices in Toronto. This page lists all the Driving Test centres, and says they all offer knowledge tests. There are four listed in Toronto. Rojomoke (talk) 04:09, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Michelob plastic bank
[edit]I have an 40 year old plastic bank that needs a new Michelob label, I just wanted to get it relabeled, any suggestions, Robin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.80.153.16 (talk) 03:43, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Michelob labels are available on eBay.--Shantavira|feed me 07:14, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it be more valuable with the original label? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:18, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Michelob appears to be a brand of beer. I now understand what the label might be, but what's the connection with banks? --Dweller (talk) 12:46, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Branded merchandise. Marlboro cigarettes used to have a points program where you could tear the points off of boxes to order Marlboro branded items like jackets, umbrellas, etc. Dismas|(talk) 13:14, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- And as Alan King once said (in an ironic foreshadowing) if you get enough of those points saved up, you can get an iron lung. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:04, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- ??? Banks give out branded merchandise from breweries? Why do they do that? --Dweller (talk) 21:52, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Most likely a little plastic bank (akin to the proverbial piggy bank) issued as a promotion by the beer company. If you google "michelob coin bank", you'll get maybe an example or two of that and a bunch more of other types of little coin banks. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:11, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- OK, now I get it. I was wondering if "bank" was a synonym for "bottle" in USEng or something. Now I just feel daft. Thanks for explaining. --Dweller (talk) 23:55, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

- Or Duff beer. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 00:33, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Looking for a certain tutorial YouTube channel
[edit]I'm looking for a YouTube channel that I've lost. It was run by one guy and linked to his website, containing tutorials/lessons on PHP, JQuery and other web development topics, but also some completely unrelated subjects such as sociology. All of the videos had a preview photo that was colour coded based on topic/tutorial series, with the title in white. Does anyone know which channel I'm talking about? --78.144.234.46 (talk) 17:14, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
ET
[edit]How does ET reproduce? Could ET produce crossbreed children with a human? Is the ET in the video fully grown or a juvenile? Horatio Snickers (talk) 20:39, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- ET is a fictional character - it does neither of those things in the movie - and since there is no other information to go in, the question is unanswerable. I believe that the movie suggests that ET is a Juvenile. SteveBaker (talk) 20:53, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- The kids imply ET is young, or at least not a grownup, when the daughter asks, "Is it a boy or a girl?" and Eliot says, "It's a boy." The ESP connection between Eliot and ET is kind of a hint also. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:22, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- The kids could have had exactly the same conversation, with the exact same words, if they were discussing an adult. Think of ET as being, say, a dog or fox. Kids use that kind of language to mean "male or female". You can't infer from that, it's too much of a stretch. --Dweller (talk) 21:55, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Whatever. The OP asked three questions. The first two are unanswerable. The third is at best an inference. Time to box this one up? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:10, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

- Beyond the film, and its novelization, the ET extended canon (every time someone says "star wars canon", another feather falls from St. Augustine's wings) consists of the Atari 2600 video game, William Kotzwinkle's sequel novel E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet: A Novel Paperback, and the E.T. Adventure ride. The game has no discernible story, so doesn't help. The novel apparently does discuss ET's home world, so it may have details of its society. My very dim recollection of the ride, which featured many other creatures of ET's species in a magical forest that smelled like a PE teacher's underpants, is that there were some ETs that were clearly children (smaller and yet more cutsey than ET) and I think some wrinkly aged ones. This would suggest ET is a young(ish) adult. You can pick up Kotzwinkle's book for next to nothing online. -- Finlay McWalterᚠTalk 21:53, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- People who know what a PE teacher's underpants smell like are not welcome here, so kindly move along. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:05, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Finlay may be a PE teacher. Or work in a laundrette. Or perhaps for a specialist underwear manufacturer (he didn't specify whether said underwear was used or not). Neither did he mention the sex of the PE teacher. Are we sufficiently offtopic yet? --Dweller (talk) 23:52, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

- Very literally, ET reproduced asexually, using a video camera tube. His children used magnets, his grandchildren lasers and countless generations since simply copy and paste. Whether you consider human–computer interaction a sort of procreation or just "fooling around" is up to you.
- I'd always assumed he was older (pound-for-pound) than Elliot. Seemed something like a "big brother". I'd say he's 30 in human years, but that's just a guess. InedibleHulk (talk) 04:55, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- Interestingly, ET was supposedly a Jedi. He recognizes Yoda in the movie (and says home when he sees him), and appears in a later Star Wars movie in a council meeting. In the books, ET was an adult, and is a gardener, which is why he traveled the universe collecting plants. Zzubnik (talk) 12:27, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
- If Eliot was correct in saying ET was a boy, then that describes sexual reproduction. Further, if Eliot could recognize ET's genitals as being male, then they must be similar to human genitals, and thus used for sexual intercourse. (There are, of course, many plants and animals which reproduce sexually without intercourse, but they are not easily recognized as male or female, unless you already know what to look for in that species.)
