[edit]Logging In
[edit]I forget my user name (I think it is bluesprof) and my password.
I tried toreset my password but I never got an email from you.
Can you please help me?
Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:400:8000:ac70:8818:511d:9fc9:414e (talk) 00:02, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- There is no User:bluesprof. See Special:ListUsers/Bluespro for similar names, but finding the username isn't enough. You need either username and password, or a stored email address which works. It's optional to give an email address. Maybe you didn't, or it's an old address. You can create a new account. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:43, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Here's a tip I found that might work. I used to do a lot of editing as an IP User, before I was finally persuaded to register. I used a couple of different computers and the IPs changed, so my edits are under several different ones. When I want to find one, I go to some article that I know I worked on and look through its history. So, if you can think of something you did under that Username you've forgotten, call up the relevant article. Uporządnicki (talk) 11:55, 8 September 2021 (UTC)
Surname vs Disambiguation pages
[edit]I've asked this question before and apologize for trying again: I've just reverted a lot of work someone put into "cleaning up" Wilson (name) by removing names that would be covered by a dab page. I use Surname pages a lot. and to me it doesn't matter how long the page is, I can usually find what I want using Ctrl+F, but with just a list of dab pages how do I find a D. Wilson who's an Australian actor? or worse still Judge Wilson? Is there an essay or directive I can point to next time someone "tidies up", or am I in the wrong? Doug butler (talk) 05:08, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Doug butler, the revert you did was to List of people with surname Wilson. (I think it was a big improvement, but I've no idea what the official policy is.) Maproom (talk) 06:43, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Pinging Debartolo2917, whose reverted edit it was. Maproom (talk) 06:47, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Doug butler. I'm with Debartolo2917 on this one. For example, why link to Adrian Wilson (disambiguation) and its subsidiary entries too? It's redundant. (Worse, only three of the four entries are included.) The main list page is already very long; why make it longer? My personal rule of thumb is, if a secondary dab page contains more than three entries, just link to it rather than list its entries. I never, ever do both. - Correction: On extremely rare occasions, if one person is far more notable than everyone else with the same name, I may have let them co-exist. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:40, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Another advantage is that any updates/additions have to be done only once. Clarityfiend (talk) 21:33, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Of course things get left out. We're not perfect. But our goal should be to make it as easy as possible for users (including editors) to find what they're looking for. Surname pages and dab pages have different purposes. And, like hatnotes and redirects, indexes are cheap. Doug butler (talk) 01:57, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- What's so inconvenient about someone looking for the infamous Adrian, finding the dab link and clicking one more time? Also, there's a WP:CHOKING issue. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:57, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:File_Upload_Wizard to let you know how to upload files. Can you do it? Mlik point (talk) 07:25, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Mlik point. Please read - carefully - all the answers you have been given all the other times you have asked somebody to do this for you. You are at risk of getting a longer block for disruptive editing. --ColinFine (talk) 11:36, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

About draft ( Dasith Nipuna Gamage)
[edit]Hi, I’m cluuz I want to know if there is anything wrong with the following draft? Draft- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dasith_Nipuna_Gamage — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cluuz (talk • contribs)
- @Cluuz: Yes, there is plenty wrong with it. We don't cite IMDB for one thing. Your draft doesn't include evidence of significant coverage by reliable sources that are independent of the topic. We need multiple such sources, not one short review from an obscure source.
- See WP:MUSICBIO for the inclusion criteria. Exactly what critiera does Dasith Nipuna Gamage meet? Your article should demonstrate that at least one of those criteria are satisfied. ~Anachronist (talk) 14:34, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
Wrong photo in an article about guitarist Magnus Andersson
[edit]There is a photo of me, Magnus Andersson, guitarist, that is not the right person, but Magnus Andersson, handboll player. There are are several photos of the guitarist, Magnus Andersson to be found and photos that shows me with a classical guitar too. I am not sure how to change to the right one. But, as the information given in the Wikipedia article does not come from myself, it would be good if the picture could be changed to the correct person. I do not know how to do it myself nor am I sure i I can do it myself.
Magnus Andersson
- You are correct. I have removed the offending photograph. We do not have a freely licensed image we can use. Please see Wikipedia:How to upload a photo--Shantavira|feed me 16:06, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hello! WP is very strict about copyright, and the default assumption is that any picture of you currently online can't be used because of that. The simplest solution is either:
- Take a new, previously unpublished selfie and upload it with the process that starts here. That is a link to Commons, a sister-site of WP where "free" pictures are kept.
- Or have a friend take a new, previously unpublished picture, and have them upload it at the same link. Then it can be used on WP, unless editors think it looks bloody awful. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:25, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
