Let us suppose you saw an advert for a charity appeal in a newspaper and as a result sent off a cheque to the charity that day. Would you feel offended if the charity repeated the appeal in the same newspaper the next week? I don't think you would. Vice President Elect never donate again

I will never NEVER donate another dollar to this site. For years I have supported this cause and thought a great concept. I now see that you have joined the political damaging statements to our history. Your "locked" definition of President Elect is beyond irresponsible. There is a constitutional process you know, yes you do know it. You should be ashamed. Is there no where in America where truth and integrity can be found in media. I suppose the EPOC times is our last great hope. If you refer to President-elect of the United States then click "show" in the box at top of Talk:President-elect of the United States. It's an unofficial term used by reliable sources. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources state, so please have such sources to support your claims. Sarika9140 For technical and legal reasons, it is not possible to delete an account. For legal reasons, all edits must be attributable to someone; you agree to this every time you click 'publish changes'. Sarika9140 As I said, there are legal reasons accounts cannot be deleted, even if it were technically possible. All edits must be attributable to an account. For follow up comments, please edit this existing section, instead of creating new sections. 331dot (talk) 08:31, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Rename file

@Владимир Меланхолин: I'm not sure what you mean and your link is broken but you may have misunderstood the reply. You do not have to rename files. Unicode has nearly every character you could want. I assumed your question was about the English Wikipedia. We allow variants of Latin letters like á and ó in File:Tomás Cardinal Ó Fiaich.jpg. Self-promoting problem

The article about New Order, the Mexican film, has been vandalized by the user Uziel Salazar (UzielSalazar20) in Spanish and English. Based on his profile in IMDB (https://m.imdb.com/name/nm11842632/), he is a member of the film crew, specifically, he is part of the editorial department; so he has been erasing every text that talks about the negative response the film had, even though it has its sources, and replacing it with only extremely positive texts. Different users have tried to undo his actions but he reverts them everytime. So, what can be done to get this user banned from editing the article in any language since his actions are biased and dishonest because he works for the movie?ReiRojas (talk) 11:29, 29 December 2020 (UTC)ReiRojas

CityCorp was founded as City Bank of New York in 1812, whereas the Communist Party of China was founded in 1921 so if the CCP was indeed CityCorp's founder - then surely the greater crime is in not admitting that they've cracked time travel? --Paul ❬talk❭ 14:09, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Actually the sentence actually written by our non-signing correspondent suggests that CityCorp founded the Chinese Communist Party and not the other way round. This is clearly logically possible but sounds to me to be extremely unlikely. I have just read the foundation section of the Chinese Communist Party article and it appears to be based on a Chinese officially approved source. There must be a western source for this, but I don't have it. I have read tons of allegations that WP has a left wing bias but this is the only evidence I have found of an article being based on a left wing source. By the way unsigning correspondent please don't shout, which is what using so many capitals means.Spinney Hill (talk) 10:42, 30 December 2020 (UTC) . .

A pitcher of Pearl Harbor

I have a pitcher of Pearl Harbor from the 1940s of the USS Dan Dago, USS Seattle, and the USS Texas setting tied up. Its a shame to just throw this pitcher away, so I would like to mail it to someone who might be able to use it on here and show other people the pitcher. If you give me an address ill mail it. Wikimedia doesn't really deal in physical archives but I think the best way to preserve this image would likely be to get someone at your local library to help you scan it (they'll definitely have appropriate facilities), and upload it to Wikimedia Commons. --Paul ❬talk❭ 17:20, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

@Rick GMG1: For us to accept that upload, it must either have been taken by a US government photographer (and therefore in the public domain), or you must be the owner of the copyright. You are the owner if you took that photo yourself, or if you inherited the copyright from the photographer (e.g. as part of the photographer's estate). Please discuss this with whoever you ask to help your with the upload. Sorry for this complication, but we are required to obey the law (copyright law) even when it is stupid. Hello, and welcome to the help desk. I assume you mean how to download something like shown below:

First, select the "MENU" Button. then click the download icon on the right of the dropdown which has yust openend. After that, you have to select which format you would like to have. I can't give you a preference there, as this is not my area of expertise. Clicking on the file type of your choise will bring you to the file URL on https://upload.wikimedia.org. Correction needed on the site "List of environmental books"

Hi - I am a first time editor and on the site "List of environmental books" while trying to add my book into the list I inadvertently listed my book in the title for all books. I reverted your change, which restored the table as it was. Note that the entries in this table all have Wikipedia articles. If your book doesn't have such an article, it shouldn't be added to the list. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Your opinions

I was reading about Sydney Powell and I noticed all of the adjectives which are your opinions that aren’t facts or necessary and of course you have a right to your opinions just like I can stop donating. One of my post was removed on a fender guitar amp for what reason I don’t care but I’ve been playing guitar for 52 years and using fender amps so I probably know as much about them as the person who removed it but I definitely know your opinions don’t belong on here calling Sydney Powell’s claims baseless when hundreds of eyewitnesses plus a 30 year Air Force information warfare officer came forward and testified that he has been investigating the dominion voting machines and found the evidence that the machines were corrupt along with the fact they can switch votes is one of the selling points in the manual that promotes the machines. So I would call your information baseless because it’s wrong and doesn’t belong on here. This comment is coming from a lifelong registered Democrat who’s not going with the flow because of the harm it will do to the USA 🇺🇸 Remember the information must be verifiable which your comments about Sydney Powell are not verifiable facts. Linking to title that is inside collapsed template

Currently in Wikipedia:WikiProject_Organized_Labour there are two sections titles Templates. One is manually created by me, as a hack, but I would like to hide the second Templates, which is includes in the transclusion. Am open to other best practices. @PrimeHunter: The ToC is fine, because that links to an external page with templates. Currently Wikipedia:WikiProject_Organized_Labour#Templates goes where I want (because I manually created a section title) but inside the collapsed "show" section, is another Section title, also titled Templates, which is what is linked automatically in the contents section. Currently it links to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Organized_Labour#Templates 2 which doesn't exist. Shushugah (talk) 19:25, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

@Shushugah: The ToC does not link to an external page. An automatically generated ToC will always link to the page it's on. The ToC link to Wikipedia:WikiProject Organized Labour#Templates 2 worked when the second "Templates" heading was visible after clicking "show". If you incorrectly think the link was always broken then I don't know why you said the ToC is fine. And you didn't say whether you want the heading on Wikipedia:WikiProject Organized Labour/Templates. I see another editor has removed it here. Proposed deletion of a stub

Hello, A person has proposed that my stub be deleted because it does not have enough sources. I read the stub guidelines and in my notation when publishing the stub CrossRealms Series I stated it was not ready to be an article but I hope others could help expand on the stub. I was under the impression this was the sort of thing that a stub was for. I wanted to contact the person who suggested my stub be deleted and it says the page is archived and I cannot contact them. Can you please help me with this matter and remove the request for deletion since it is NOT meant to be an article, it is a stub? If I have somehow incorrectly made it an article, not a stub, can you assist me in making a correction? Thank you, Teachme23Teachme23 (talk) 20:01, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Teachme23 You seem to have misunderstood what a stub is. A stub is a very short, underdeveloped article. Hello the Boat! is an example of a stub about a fictional novel. Crossrealms series is far, far too long to be considered a stub. That said, even stubs have to demonstrate notability. For Crossrealms series, the applicable notability guideline is the one for books. Please familiarize yourself with that (and other) notability guidelines, and revise the article to demonstrate that Crossrealms series meets Wikipedia's definition of a notable book. ~ ONUnicorn^{(Talk|Contribs)}problem solving 20:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict) A stub is still an article, just a short one. Wikipedia:Stub starts "A stub is an article ...". User talk:Passengerpigeon only says "This talk page is archived when 20 or more messages are posted." There are currently more than 20 but just ignore that. You can post to the page, e.g. using the "New section" tab. The subject of a stub should satisfy Wikipedia:Notability or a more specific guideline like Wikipedia:Notability (books). Wikipedia stub articles are not a circumvention of our notability requirements. You are allowed to remove the proposed deletion template but please don't change it like in [1]. Either let it be or remove the whole template as you did in a later edit. The article may still be nominated for deletion via another process you are not allowed to remove but there would probably be a discussion you can participate in. Thank you for your response. I am continuing to work on the stub. I did read the page on stubs which stated "There is no set size at which an article stops being a stub. While very short articles are very likely to be stubs, there are some subjects about which very little can be written. Conversely, there are subjects about which a lot could be written, and their articles may still be stubs even if they are a few paragraphs long. As such, it is impossible to state whether an article is a stub based solely on its length, and any decision on the article has to come down to an editor's best judgment (the user essay on the Croughton-London rule may be of use when trying to judge whether an article is a stub)" so I did not consider the length to be preclusive. Teachme23 I recommend you also familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Novels. It sets out what sort of information your article should have, how it should be structured, and good places to find sources for your article. @Teachme23: the only absolute requirement for an article, including a stub, is that the subject is notable (WP:N) by our definition. Any other defect can be fixed, but not a lack of notability: see WP:AMOUNT. Unless you can establish notability by reference to reliable sources, the article, stub or not, should be deleted. A true stub is has a notable subject but is a placeholder for a more complete article. -Arch dude (talk) 21:05, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Inserting CBB yearly record template
