General Council of the Pyrénées-Orientales

[edit]

Hi.

I would like for the page General Council of the Pyrénées-Orientales to be renamed in Departmental Council of Pyrénées-Orientales. It is the official name, since all general councils in France became departmental councils in 2015.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.166.247.36 (talk) 00:37, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It’s done I mean, it’s a redirect — Preceding unsigned comment added by The person who should not be named (talkcontribs) 01:01, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

need to create bussiness page kindly help

[edit]

i am vishal vaja, representator of Baroda Global Shared Services,

please help to create page and profile and data — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vishal vaja (talkcontribs) 05:07, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not publish business pages or profiles, but if your company has been written about at length in WP:Reliable sources, then an article about the company can be written by summarising what these sources say. Because you have a WP:Conflict of interest, and probably WP:Paid status, you are not the best person to write the article, but you could try WP:Requested articles, giving the sources you have found. Adding company wiki page to Categories

[edit]

Hey Wiki contributors,

I'm trying to add add https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zapp_Scooters_Limited to this category page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Electric_motorcycles but not sure how to do it correctly.

The current Categories at the bottom of the page have been published but are linked incorrectly and i'm not sure how to edit or remove themTheInfamous7 (talk) 05:12, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TheInfamous7: The article is already in an appropriate sub-category ([[:Category:Electric scooters]]). Please see WP:SUBCAT for more information. If you are not already aware you add the cat to the article not article to the category... categories can be found towards the end of the markup. Eagleash (talk) 06:19, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TheInfamous7: On another point, do you have any connection to, or work for, the company? If so, you must read WP:COI and WP:PAID and make any necessary disclosures. If you have a connection, you should not edit the page directly, but make requests via the article talk page. This is not a reflection upon you but is one of the ways in which Wikipedia tries to ensure neutrality. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 06:32, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves

[edit]

Hi! How can I undo the last Contact film/movie page moves I just did? I tried to but couldn't figure it out. Thanks, QuestFour (talk) 06:41, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@QuestFour: As a non-administrator you can only undo a move from A to B if the only edit in the page history of A is a redirect to B. Special:Log/QuestFour shows you first moved Contact (1997 film) to Contact 1997 film, and then moved Contact (1997 film) to Contact movie. You should be able to undo these moves in the opposite order. It will still leave redirects you created at Contact 1997 film and Contact movie. If you want those deleted then I can do it. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:29, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: thank you for responding. I tried to undo the edits in every possible way but I keep getting that the edit "appears to have already been undone". Would you kindly undo and delete the edits? Thanks again, QuestFour (talk) 15:56, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@QuestFour: You quote the message from undo in the page history. A move is reverted by clicking revert in the page log ("View logs for this page" at top of the page history), or by just making a new move in the opposite direction. I have reverted the move and deleted the redirects you made. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:21, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editing an Article

[edit]

Hello.

I edited some information on this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_of_Dungeons_%26_Dragons) some days ago, but I see today that they have been deleted without any mention of them. The information I added were correct while the information on the article is false. So my question is, why did my edit dissapear? Did nobody check the source I provided? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Kaustikos1981 (talk) 09:33, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure that you clicked "Publish" when you made the changes? The above is the only edit recorded under your user name. It's possible that you were not logged in and that your contribution was recorded as anon editor 2a02:587:b426:0:c0de:af78:5d3c:349a. If that is the case then another anon editor reverted your edit and asked that you discuss it on the talk page of the article. Dbfirs 09:42, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Congressional map of Florida

[edit]

I was looking at the congressional map of Florida and noticed that the demographic percentage breakdowns are incorrect. The numbers do not add up to 100 percent. Some of them do but most are between 110 and 125. I was wondering if that is an error or if there is a logical reason that they are like that? Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulduncanhandley (talkcontribs) 13:19, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Paulduncanhandley: You didn't link a specific page but I guess it's based on the United States Census where people can choose to report multiple races. See Race and ethnicity in the United States Census. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:49, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spotify 'writer credits' to validate a post?

[edit]

Hi guys, is it possible to validate a songwriter's credits using this Spotify link whereby the writer credits are then visible when you right click? https://open.spotify.com/track/6lBQ0SMCrJ7zy1LSCuXqwV?si=-AGfkB96SXiAGGaM7YTWVg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:C610:1200:A957:10CB:38D8:587D (talk) 14:15, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, I would say no. Instead look for a published news or review article that covers the credits. If they aren't credited in the press for something, its generally not notable. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 05:26, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User name

[edit]

Hi

I don´t remember if I have made a Wikipedia account or not. When I try to create an account with my name I am told that this name is already in use. When I try to log in with that name and click "Forgot the password" I am told that this name is not registered in this Wiki. Any ideas how to get it sorted if my name is in use or not and if not then how to get to using it myself?

Best regards, Pärtel — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.80.112.244 (talk) 14:35, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What user name? --David Biddulph (talk) 14:37, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If it's User:Pärtel then it's not in use. Please quote the precise message you get. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:23, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot to check global account information. Special:CentralAuth/Pärtel show the name is in use in the Estonian Wikipedia. That means you cannot create the name at any Wikimedia wiki. The account has no edits so if you really want the name then see meta:Steward requests/Username changes#Requests involving merges, usurps or other complications. It's much easier to just create an account with another name. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:42, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a clean wikipedia API just for retrieve content summary?

[edit]

I need just to retrieve first paragraph of a Wikipedia page. Content must be html formated, ready to be displayed on my website (Redacted) (so NO BBCODE, or WIKIPEDIA special CODE!) Is there any Wikipedia Api to get the just the summary of the content? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.111.137.152 (talk) 16:32, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You can read here. Ruslik_Zero 17:47, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Guidance Needed for Outdated Page

[edit]

Hi, I'm with Rosetta Stone, the language learning company. Our Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone_(software)) is so out of date I don't know where to start with editing it -- most of the information is no longer relevant and should just be deleted. I'm aware of the guidelines around a company editing its own content but I feel like we are the most knowledgeable to do so, vs. an outsider that doesn't have first-hand knowledge of our products. Is there any way we can just delete our page and start over with a new entry we create? I'd really appreciate any guidance on options available to us, so that we can have an accurate and current representation on Wikipedia. Thank you in advance for your help. Andiriggs (talk) 16:45, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Andiriggs: You should not edit the page yourself. Place suggested edits on the article talk page along with {{Edit request}} so someone not affiliated can look at it. All changes should have citations to reliable sources, so it will not be a problem for an "outsider" to make the needed edits. You also need to follow the WP:PAID required disclosure. RudolfRed (talk) 17:12, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: Hi RudolfRed, thank you but I'm still confused. Is there any way we can connect live so I can ask questions and be sure I'm doing this correctly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andiriggs (talkcontribs) 18:17, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Andiriggs: you say "I feel like we are the most knowledgeable to do so". Actually, and perhaps paradoxically, no you are not. Wikipedia has very little interest in what the subject of an article says about itself, and no interest at all in how the subject wishes to be presented. Almost everything in the article should from what people who have no connection with Rosetta Stone have published about it, unprompted by the company. --ColinFine (talk) 15:53, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Negative number in table

[edit]

I can't seem to easily figure out how to make a table treat a negative number as an actual number, rather than trying to parse the hyphen/minus sign as part of the table (i.e. |-70 is treated like table param |- rather than -70 within a cell). Do I need to wrap a template around this or a specific tag? The negative number itself is generated via another template but the issue remains even when testing as entering a number directly. Thanks. Bungle (talkcontribs) 16:47, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You can just write a space before the hyphen. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:22, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yep I guess I could and doing so doesn't seem to process the space as a character on the output. Sometimes it's the simple solutions, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bungle (talkcontribs) 17:31, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

how do you block somwone???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashurtz22 (talkcontribs) 19:16, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ashurtz22 Only administrators can block a user, and only for certain reasons. For what reason do you want to block someone? 331dot (talk) 19:18, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
From their edits and talk page, I believe they're curious about how they are going to be blocked. If they keep screwing around, I'll explain via demonstration. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:25, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

incorrect website listed as City website. How can we change?

Incorrect website listed as City website. How can we change?

Old site is now a "dating" site.

The City of Shady Cove, Oregon changed its site from .net to .org Wiki lists the old site. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.247.42.104 (talk) 20:35, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

transphobia

[edit]

why does wikipedia have transphobia as a policy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:4C0:8003:FFB0:918:13A1:A302:4B13 (talk) 20:41, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't. Your post is cryptic but you apparently disagree with sometimes giving the former name of transgender people per WP:TRANSNAME. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:15, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing misplaced drafts for new users.

So, assume that User:foobarbaz accidentally used their userpage as a sandbox, due to not understanding. How would I cleanly move this to User:foobarbaz/sandbox without making a mess? --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 23:31, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If the only edits are by user Foobarbaz, then just cut and paste, explaining in an edit summary. Don't move because that would leave a redirect. If you do move then you will want to delete the redirect. Dbfirs 19:37, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
