[edit]Hi there. I made some edits to Farish Street Neighborhood Historic District and now there's a red-link category called "Historic districts in USA Mississippi" at the bottom of the article. I'm stumped as to how it got there. Thanks! Magnolia677 (talk) 00:14, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Magnolia677, fixed. I had the same problem with some of the NRHP articles in D.C. It was the "locmapin" field in the infobox. APK whisper in my ear 00:38, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Infobox school, secondary school
[edit]Hi, good day! I would like to know if Infobox secondary school is acceptable to use. I can only find reference material for Infobox school, and none for secondary school. I am trying to review the infobox on Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran and Bohol Wisdom School, and they both used Infobox secondary school. Thank you! -- MG (talk) 02:24, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- There's currently a tag on Template:Infobox secondary school indicating that it's being merged into Template:Infobox school, so you should use the latter. —Cryptic 02:36, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- ...though, now that I look at it a bit closer, that merge tag's been on the first template for over a year now. Ugh. —Cryptic 02:39, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you User:Cryptic, for that information! I should edit the infoboxes on those pages sometime. — MG (talk) 06:23, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
Incorrect House Opening Times
[edit]Please note that the house is open for visits on may days per year, either by private arrangement (term time) or on 9 Open House and Garden Days during April-October. The gardens only are open every Weds and Thurs afternoon 2-5pm, April-October. Please see website for details - www.holfordtrust.com.
Heritage Officer Holfords of Westonbirt Trust — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.33.130.197 (talk) 09:01, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- I guess "may days" should have said "many days" and is not about the month of May. We have millions of articles. The post must be about the second paragraph in Westonbirt House which is different from the 2015 opening days in http://www.holfordtrust.com/HolfordTrust%202015.pdf. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:30, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Wikipedia articles normally don't go into details about opening days & times, admission charges and so on, as "Wikipedia is not a travel guide". We cannot expect such information to always be kept bang up to date in the articles. I've edited Westonbirt House to remove any specifics about opening dates, and at the same time added an external link to the Holford Trust home page, so that any interested reader can easily find what should be the right information: Noyster (talk), 13:35, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Help: Incorrect Unit (9th) was not aboard the USNS CORE when it docked in Saigon on Dec. 11, 1961.
[edit]This is to correct the name of one of the Helicopter Units that was docked in Saigon Dec. 11, 1961. The united shown (9th) should be corrected to the 8th Transport Company. I was attached to the 8th Transport Company on that date. Please make that correction. Thanks you, Jerry K. - Sadly your personal remiscences are not acceptable as a Wikipedia reliable source; they count as original research. The previous information was referenced to a published source, so you'll need to convince us that the source referenced did not say what the article says, and/or provide us with another reliable published source to confirm your memories. Also your change was malformatted, but I have reverted it. - David Biddulph (talk) 17:20, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Creating offline/personal Wiki-style documents
[edit]I want to create personal documents similar to Wiki articles (for my own personal usage). Offline HTML (or any other format) files similar to Wiki style and formatting. A personal wiki. Can Zim do this for me? What do you suggest? --Zyma (talk) 17:44, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Have you looked at our Personal wiki page? --Guy Macon (talk) 19:02, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- No, I'll check it. Thanks. --Zyma (talk) 12:13, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
Oil Base Stain
[edit]I wish to order the Lasure Bleue oil base stain from you. But cannot figure out how. Will you please help me do so? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robertrockey (talk • contribs) 18:51, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @Robertrockey: You are currently on Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia. We write about all sorts of subjects, including companies, but that's about it - we are in no way affiliated with the companies or items we write about. If you'd like to get in touch with a company, you'll have to contact them, not Wikipedia. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 18:58, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
how to add geocoordinate data
[edit]Hi,
I have "lat = 45.8104911" and "long = 13.4287543 for a river in Italy but I don't know how to translate it into a template. Are there directions somewhere? Thanks, EChastain (talk) 19:27, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- @EChastain: You have edited Torre (river). The source says
{{Infobox River|...}}
. That means it uses Template:Infobox River which has documentation for coordinates. Does that help? PrimeHunter (talk) 21:26, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- I tried to add my geocoordinate info there, but kept getting error messages. So I'm not doing it right. EChastain (talk) 21:32, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- I have added adjusted coordinates.[1] Your number of decimals implied 1 cm accuracy which is meaningless for a river, and I'm not sure exactly where the mouth of a river is considered to be but you seemed hundreds of meters off. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:13, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

- Her article has no image to speak of unless you're talking about a result on Google Images specifically. Wikipedia has no control over Google. Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie | Say Shalom! 4 Adar 5775 20:38, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong. Edit summary
[edit]I was trying to add an external link to an edit summary using the [] brackets, but it does not seem to work. Sam.gov (talk) 20:45, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Sam.gov: It's not possible to make external links in edit summaries. You can only make wikilinks. Just post the url as plain text if you want others to be able to copy-paste it to the browser address bar. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:58, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I would like to suggest that though. Sam.gov (talk) 21:00, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- If working external links could be used in edit summaries, spammers and vandals would be quick to take advantage of the opportunity; and unlike undesirable external links in articles, it would take an admin to remove them. Things are better as they are. Deor (talk) 22:48, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I would like to suggest that though. Sam.gov (talk) 21:00, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
Alert at top of page about EYES WIDE OPEN: GOING BEHIND THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEADLINES
[edit]Wikipedia page in question:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyes_Wide_Open:_Going_Behind_the_Environmental_Headlines
I understand the issue of subjects writing about themselves or their works on Wikipedia. In my case, as the author of the book EYES wIDE OPEN: GOING BEHIND THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEADLINES, I feel I've complied with your guidelines and earned the removal of the flag at the top of the page. Specifically:
All the information I contributed is referenced; it comes from respected and checkable sources, not simply out of my own head.
While many pages about books are the sole work of the author--and feature no references at all--quite a few people have contributed to this page at this point, a trend that will continue as the book gets read, further diluting my own input.
I've taken part in no deletion discussions.
I complied with your wish for more links to Wikipedia articles. The one you apparently object to--the link to the biographical page about me--seems natural to be included.
Criticism of the book was mentioned rather than hidden.
Given the above, can the alert be taken down?
Paultfleischman (talk) 21:44, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Paultfleischman: I've removed the tag (and the unsourced criticism). The last two sentences could use sources. --NeilN talk to me 21:54, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
A change in credits for the Television Show SCORPION
[edit]I made a mistake when writing the storyline. Is there a way you can change the SCORPION episode "True Colors" to reflect the following? > > It should be: > Written By: Rob Pearlstein > Directed By: Jeff Hunt — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.228.217.107 (talk) 22:03, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
- Changed as requested, thanks for pointing this out. Also added a disambiguation entry for "True Colors". GermanJoe (talk) 22:32, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
