If you wish to add text to Wikipedia articles, you can just edit most articles just as you have done here. Information you add must not be copied from somewhere else, and should ideally be referenced to a reliable source such as a major newspaper or a book from a reliable publisher. Once you have added text to Wikipedia, other people are free to alter or even remove what you have written (if they do, you can discuss the matter on the article's talk page). See WP:PILLARS for how we operate. Help:getting started may be helpful.

Referencing errors on Rising Damp (film)

For the future, please bear in mind that in general it is frowned on to ask the same question in multiple places, as it wastes the time of editors to answer a question which has already been answered elsewhere. An "editor" with an agenda who challenges the neutrality and balance of Wikipedia?

I have been watching a page (above) that refers to my company, which I have not long joined (so, COI declared here) and was recently 'rewritten' mendaciously, plus without any balance; something which has been outlined as a key tenet in the various FAQ's here. The defamatory line of editing and obvious use of derogatory word 'insertions', is clearly not neutral, is not properly weighted and uses language specifically intended to damage the corporations reputation. Surprisingly, it also keeps being supported/reverted by a Wikipedia admin? I would like to ask if anyone has had any similar situations and found a way for Wiki to be made aware of such editing - and actually follow its officially prescribed neutral mandate? Of course, I read the following advisory and I thought I would request some independent insight from the collective if possible. "If you believe an article about you or your organization is incomplete, inaccurate, or biased, there are several avenues for you to discuss the issue with Wikipedia's editorial community." I personally think the facts (positive or negative) need to be balanced regardless of opinion? Clearly, the defamatory editor has a personal agenda, I can't help that, but I would prefer that the company (even with a declared COI) can restore some balance in the article that has been commandeered, which I tend to think is a shame for all of us. The place for discussion of the article is on the article's talk page Talk:InternetQ; that is the place where consensus will be formed. I see that your question above is the first edit from your current Wikipedia account. Are you the same editor who has made previous edits to the article under various other account names (including some edits using blatantly promotional language)? How to roll back an edit that is not the most recent edit

The article "Injection molding" currently has two identical "History" sections. Apparently, on 00:27, 23 March 2014 someone deleted an "Applications" section and replaced it with a copy of the existing "History" section. I don't know how to fix this. Could I do it if I had rollback rights? Could I ask someone with rollback rights to fix it? Thanks. Margin1522 (talk) 12:25, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • (edit conflict) You don't need rollback rights for that. Go to Injection molding and select the left radio button for the last known good edit, then the right radio button for the last "bad" revision. Click the Compare selected revisions and wait for the diff to load. At the top of the page in the header on the right side will be an "undo" button. Click that, explain what you are doing in the edit summary and save the page. The diff you want to undo is this one I believe (or if you are real lazy, you can click this undo link). If there have been conflicting edits preventing the undo, you'll have to manually revert it. This means that you will have to copy the text from the old revision and paste it back in the current revision removing the bad text in the process. — {{U|Technical 13}} (tec) 12:33, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Susan Brind Morrow

I have posted an article about the author and poet Susan Brind Morrow. The most recent version was posted last evening. In that version, I included a number of clear, hard, reliable, factual links (An official announcement from The University of Texas Sowell Collections about its purchase of her papers; announcement from the Guggenheim Foundation, which awarded Brind Morrow a Fellowship; the New York Times, and others.

But still I see this morning that there is a notation at the beginning of this article stating that it needs factual reliable references.

So my point is this: SUCH REFERENCES ARE ALREADY THERE. WHAT MORE CAN BE DONE TO SATISFY WIKIPEDIA THAT THIS ARTICLE IS VALID AND MEETS THE WIKIPEDIA STANDARDS (WITH WHICH OF COURSE I AM ENTIRELY IN SYMPATHY)? The question is why it is still being blocked and scheduled for potential deletion?

The problem appears to be that you have included a list of raw external links, but no inline citations. It is therefore not possible to see which of the statements in the article is supported by which link. Wikipedia requires not only links, but actual citations to verify the statements in its articles. This is particularly important with biographies of living persons. Issue regarding Images and text

referencing my text

Hello, I've written a text about Goran Borovic, real person, professional fighter, who had no wikipedia page before. I've uploaded his fight record also. I have problem referencing it, because 99% data on his fight record is from his own personal diary, which he gave to me to make wikipedia page. I can refer to other points in article (titles, etc) with some interviews on croatian internet web pages, but most of the fights on the fight record can not be found on the internet, since it was either pre internet era, or it was organised by smaller organisations. Looking more closely, if he is actually a world title holder in a recognized sport, then he probably qualifies under WP:ATHLETE. But you would still not be able to use his diaries as a source, particularly to verify the claim of being a world title holder, that would need to be supported by a reliably published source, but in this case it could be website of the sponsoring professional organization. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:10, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to move a page

Dear editors: I am trying to accept the following article at Afc: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Lol Crawley. I have tried both the AfC Helper script and the new experimental script and in neither case does the page move occur, so I'm pretty sure it's not a script problem. The last time this happened, it turned out the page title was protected from creation, so I visited WP:SALTED and found there a link to the list of protected titles. However, the list appears to be in random order and there is no indication of how many items it contains. I manually checked the first 1000. Isn't there a better way to see if a title is salted? —Anne Delong (talk) 16:56, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, an easier way would be to simply visit the redlink: Lol Crawley. If it is create-protected, that screen will tell you so. In this case it's not, but as Ukexpat says, it's probably on the title blacklist. Writ Keeper  20:44, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Writ Keeper. I did visit the page, and didn't see anything informative. Moving articles out of Afc doesn't mess up any scripts - people do it all the time. The script is handy, though, because it gives a simple way to add Wikidata and add Wikiproject banners, request infoboxes, and does some cleanup. —Anne Delong (talk) 21:16, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, no problem. The fact that you didn't see anything means that it wasn't create-protected in the traditional sense (i.e. through the use of the standard page protection tool), but there are other ways to prevent a page from being created/moved, such as the titleblacklist in this case. I'm not sure of any easy way to check those other methods, other than simply trying to create/move the page yourself and seeing what the error message is, if there is one. Dear Wikipedia,

Thank you for your time. I handle the media & public relations for Cleveland Golf. I have updated our Cleveland Golf page today, and reported an issue, through clicking on feedback, as wrong. I did this several months ago, but the problem still exists. If you follow the link below (which was given to me after searching Google for Cleveland Golf - https://www.google.com/#q=Cleveland+Golf ), it gives you a page that shows Cleveland Golf…but on the lower right banner, on the right side of the page (see below & scroll to the right), it lists Greg Hopkins as our CEO. Greg Hopkins is no longer with our company, but has formed a competitor company to us in the golf industry. When you click on his name, it takes you to his new company (which is our competitor). Would there be any way to remove Greg Hopkins as our CEO, please??? If possible, could we replace CEO: Greg Hopkins with President: Todd Harman??? I’m so sorry to be a bother… I tried to edit it on my own, but it wasn’t possible…and obviously, we’d like to have the most accurate information available, as well as avoid having Mr. Hopkins’ name directing Googlers away from Cleveland Golf to a competitor. Thank you for clearly stating the problem was seen at Google. Most posters with similar issues fail to do that so we made this stock answer:
Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong.
We have no inside knowledge of how Google processes feedback but my guess would be that it may help if they receive multiple reports from different IP addresses. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:59, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
