There was an article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Thaxton but it was deleted, not very long ago. Presumably, the OP saw it before it was deleted and had some concerns. I saw the article in question, which was nominated as CSD A7 at the time. It seemed to be a 13-year-old singer biography with limited information. I certainly did not see an excessive amount of personal information compared to a typical biography stub. There was an unintelligible file link in the infobox as well, though after a quick peek I gathered that no image was ever uploaded. Suffice to say, this has been taken care of:

I'm not sure what you mean but I suspect you are using "Infobox" incorrectly. Please link to what you call "Infobox WikiProject" and then maybe we can guess what you want for task forces. The Infobox WikiProject is Wikipedia:WikiProject Infoboxes but I don't see how that relates to your posts. National Historic Fleet Core Collection

National Historic Fleet, Core Collection seems to be the article in question here. http://www.historicboatcharter.co.uk/raf-hsl-102/history.html and http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/525/hsl-102 refer to the boat as a High Speed Launch. I am not familiar with the terminology and Wikipedia currently doesn't have an article on High Speed Launch. FloBo means this edit. Also, it's /ref not ref/ . And I think you were trying to make wikilinks, not references. To make wikilinks, use square brackets like this: [[Egypt]], not <ref> Egypt </ref> . Art LaPella (talk) 05:30, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How to use a first-letter-lowercase Username

I have added the template {{lowercase title}} to your user and user talk page. This does not change what your actual user name is, but is does change the display of it at those two pages. Now go to your preferences, scroll down the the signature area on the first page that comes up, place the following code into the field next to Signature:
[[User:Ibicdlcod|ibicdlcod]] ([[User talk:Ibicdlcod|talk]])
Now tick the box below that that says "Treat the above as wiki markup." Now, when you sign your name it will also display in lowercase. You cannot change your account name to actually begin with a lowercase letter because of a software restriction (the same is true of article titles). Width of Infobox tennis biography template

I'd like to request an increase in the width of this template, something similar to the Golf equivalent (see Ellsworth Vines' page for both, and the difference in width between them) in order to hopefully prevent some of the actual field text on the left-hand side (e.g. 'career prize money', 'current ranking', 'australian open') from running over onto 2 lines. This happens on many players' pages, e.g. Roger Federer, Fred Stolle, John Isner and Jérôme Golmard, whereas the infoboxes presumably should look relatively clutter free/stay on one line ala David Nalbandian, Denis Istomin, Marat Safin and Alexander Popp. This would greatly improve the presentation of such pages and make the infoboxes more efficient and easier to read... would this be possible? Table sorting broken?

On the page Gymnastics_at_the_2012_Summer_Olympics_–_Women's_rhythmic_individual_all-around, there is an almost empty table; only two columns are partly filled. I can still sort by the two partially filled columns. But why does the sorting by hoop not work? I have to click on the next (empty) column of clubs to sort by hoop:

I'm pretty sure it's because both ball and hoop span two columns. The table will sort by the very top columns. Those headers would need to be removed or incorporated into the columns below them. It's a shame since it makes the table less clear but there isn't any way round it that I know of and I've asked the same question myself before. Valenciano (talk) 12:38, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Unless you think people will want to be sorting by penalty points, you could maybe change it so that there's only one column for each discipline, with a heading such as Ball (score / penalty) and entries in the form "26.625 / xxxx". Deor (talk) 13:23, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CBS Morning Problem

In currently, CBS morning newscasts is called CBS This Morning, but I notice a problem. When I linked to CBS Morning or CBS Morning Show, it redirect to The Early Show, the former morning programme on CBS. If a redirect seems to be obviously better pointing somewhere else, you may edit its target yourself. For example when clicking on CBS Morning, you end up at The Early Show and right under where it says "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia", you should see "(Redirected from CBS Morning)". If you click the link in the "Redirected from..." line, it will take you directly to the redirect page which you may then edit and change the target. However you should first check the "What links here" page for any redirect you intend to change; if most of the incoming links mean The Early Show, then perhaps you should just add a hatnote to The Early Show. Something like {{subst:redirect2|CBS Morning|CBS Morning Show|the other CBS morning show|CBS This Morning}}, which produces "CBS Morning" and "CBS Morning Show" redirect here. For the other CBS morning show, see CBS This Morning." If you're not sure at all what to do, you're welcome to nominate the problematic redirects for discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion, and more redirect savvy editors will take it from there. To summarize:
  1. Check Special:WhatLinksHere/CBS Morning and Special:WhatLinksHere/CBS Morning Show. If you're certain CBS Morning and CBS Morning Show should point at CBS This Morning, go ahead and change them accordingly and fix any incoming links that should instead point at The Early Show.
  2. If you see that there is a large majority of incoming links for those redirects that mean The Early Show, consider using the {{subst:redirect2}} template to alert readers who were looking for CBS This Morning.

Proper Name Appearing in Lowercase

Heroes Welcome UK

Hi, I just need a little clarification, some time ago Wikipedia suggested that I should try and link the Heroes Welcome Article to other relating and connecting wikipedia articles, and this is something I have been doing as and when an opportunity arises.(you can probably track these?) . Yesterday I added a section to the Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box article (it seemed the most appropriate way of adding the piece) headed inspiring communities. I believed this article to be very relevant bearing in mind the well reported association between the Mariah Mundi series of books and the Heroes Welcome story. I noticed this morning that this new section was removed by one of the originating writers who seem to go under the same name as the film production company. It's an area not many editors want to work in, because discussions about this can result in A LOT of heat :) To explain a bit more, the Wikimedia Foundation adopted a resolution that allows Wikimedia projects (including the English Wikipedia) to adopt a policy to use copyrighted material, such as images, under a claim of fair use. (No, you don't have to be a lawyer to work in that area :) ). This policy for the English Wikipedia is Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. There are LOTS of copyrighted images (generally called non-free images) which need to be reviewed for whether their use on Wikipedia is valid under fair use (actually under the non-free content criteria). We have WAAAY too few people working on this. Non-free files with suspicious fair use claims or other problems are discussed at non-free content review. There are some automatically generated reports that can detect some of the images and files with problems regarding the non-free content policy. I am one of only a handful of editors (I believe) working through these reports, identify the problems with a specific file / article and outline those problems for discussion at non-free content review. Then a consensus can be reached on whether a particular use of a file is appropriate or not. So if you are interested, just let me know. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 15:17, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I often do "monotonous and practically never ending task(s)". The way i deal with it is doing a bit of one, then switch to another for a bit, and so on (see my userpage for a list of things to do :D ). There are two reports. The first one is located at Wikipedia:Database reports/Non-free files missing a rationale and is generated by a bot which updates the report daily. The other one (which I am using) is run on the toolserver and can be found here. The toolserver report is not being updated very often, and some of the top violations have already been resolved. Error on page

I would like someone to fix a error, I cant figure how to do it. I fixed it. When you want to edit a reference, you have to look where the reference number appears in the article text. In this case, it's after the second sentence between ref tags, looking like <ref>Details of the reference</ref>. You have to figure out, where the reference is located in the Wiki code and edit that part. Wikipedia Hong Kong

(edit conflict) If you are referring to the Hong Kong page here at the English Wikipedia, then the reason you cannot edit it is because it is protected by a mechanism called semi-protection. People editing under an IP cannot edit such pages, only people who are logged in and have an account that is autoconfirmed can edit such pages. Creating an account is free and provides some other benefits, but is not required as long as you don't want to edit semi-protected pages. Registering an account also provides some other benefits, which are outlined at Wikipedia:Why create an account?. Removing "unreferenced stub" tag?

My question, really, is when can I remove the "unreferenced stubs" template?

I've been working on the Schrodinger-Newton equations entry, and I would like to remove the "unreferenced stubs" template since I've added quite a bit (although still more work is needed!)...but I don't know if I've done enough to warrant removing the template.

Have you tried Wikipedia's Reference Desk? They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer just about any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what this Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. I hope this helps.. But, Wikipedia cannot give medical advice. The article on Hepatitis might answer your question, though. It depends on what exactly you wish to do. Do you want to make a custom userbox to put on your own page only? That can be done by placing a modified form of {{Userbox}} right on your userpage. They are attempting to point out an error in our 2012 Republican National Convention article. I looked at the source listed at the given URL, but the American system is crazy and confusing for me and I had no clue what that source meant, so I left this one for someone else to look at. They are arguing that our article(s) clash with the position taken by the Paul campaign (or at least some of its irredentist elements). Of the six references listed on the article, one is in print form, one is a dead link, one makes no mention of her at all, and three call her Kate Bailey. What does the olympic symbol next to a listed athlete mean?

I have checks both the contents in the page under footnotes and the talk page but see no explantation why some athletes, like Allan Wells, have an Olympic symbol rather than their national flag next to their name. Please explain it and clearly mark what it denotes in the page link above and relevant pages elsewhere.

Hi. It represents an Olympic champion. One of the most recent Olympic champions is Michael Phelps (for example). In Great Britain at the 1980 Summer Olympics, I read "The UK government allowed its athletes to choose whether to compete". Isn't that what almost every country does, for every Olympics? I think it means that the UK did not send an official team, but its athletes competed without an official UK affiliation. Disambiguation for Sauk language

There are two Sauk languages -- one is on the page Sauk people, the other is Ma Manda language. However, a search on "Sauk language" redirects to Ma Manda language only. Both Sauk languages might also be called "Sauk", and belong on the disambiguation page. Would someone with more experience with disambiguation please take a look at this? Ranks in Tables

A lot of formatted tables have a "Rank" column. e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multiple_Olympic_gold_medalists. If one adds a new name to the list, e.g. previously omitted through oversight, all of the ranks below the new entry have to be manually incremented by 1...

Or do they? Is there a way to automatically increment these ranks, or to set up the table in the first place so these ranks are automatically generated when the table is edited?Ordinary Person (talk) 23:28, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am new to the user side of Wikipedia, and looking to get involved. I have a huge personal library, and tons of documents as well.

I am active, love to read, love the power of information, and have a well established network in business and politics.

My favorite subjects are economics and foreign policy. I am already established in the Economics WikiProject. (Their page hasn't been updated in a long time!) Is there a WikiProject for international affairs / foreign policy?
