Your welcome
[edit]Hi. No one "controls" Wikipedia articles, so feel free to be bold in editing as many articles as you are interested in! Most especially in the area of Near Eastern ancient history, we need more good editors who have knowledge of this subject. I haven't had time as of late to read up further on the history of Nestorians in Khuzestan (often neglected in the major texts), so please expand this area further if you are interested. As a side note, you may want to organize and format the data (which you have greatly expanded) in Basra and Kufa into sections with relevant headers. I'll try to do this myself if you don't have time (or as often happens, someone else will get to it!). At any rate, welcome again, and I hope you decide to stay here and contribute further. Take care, SouthernComfort 2 July 2005 23:30 (UTC)
Bronze Age
[edit]Sapinuwa
[edit]Your new article Sapinuwa is more extensive, so I only added the category Archaeological sites in Turkey. Maybe a separate subcategory called Hittite sites in Turkey or the like could be created within this? --JFK 10:33, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

3000 BP
[edit]Dear Sir or Madam, For volcanic eruptions, some scientists date such events using the term 3000 BP or 2900 BP. What does 3000 BP mean--is it 3,000 years ago (ie. 1000 BC) or 3000 BC? How about 2900 BP. I'm referring to the Hekla III event.
- PS: Is it certain now that the Hekla III eruption has been redated to 1000 BC (I think) and not 1159 BC--they seem more distant. I did not know of this new research. I hope it is from a reliable source and not a fringe one. From the sources you gave in, they seem bona fide and reliable. Thank you, --Leoboudv (talk) 22:44, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- I am not a vulcanologist. I am however able to sniff out bunk, and its stench exudes from any article which claims a specific year for a given Bronze Age event (possible exception granted to Mursili's Eclipse). Looking into Hekla III, I found a dispute between Baker and Dugmore, both peer-reviewed scientists (so I'm not willing to declare either of them as "fringe"). As far as I know their tiff hasn't been resolved, although Icelandic scholars seem to favour Dugmore.
- I will say that anyone who puts Hekla III into an article about Rameses III at this time is fringe. --Zimriel (talk) 17:47, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Museum of Anatolian Civilizations
[edit]You'll probably be glad to know that I'm in the process of uploading to the Commons lots of photos I recently made in this museum in Ankara, while touring through Turkey Commons:Category:Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. I'm planning to add (on a later date) some additional text in the WP, based on the book "The Hattian and Hittite Civilizations" by the famous Turkish archaeologist Ekrem Akurgal that I bought in that museum. This book contains very detailed first-hand information about those civilizations, based on a whole life of research. I'm not an archaeologist and I hope that you'll watch my future contributions with eagle eyes. JoJan 19:26, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject Newsletter n°1
[edit]Bonjour and welcome to the first WikiProject France newsletter!! It should become a monthly special of our project, but until the next issue, here are some points to consider for the month:
- In an effort to determine the active members from the inactive, all members are asked to simply sign on my special userpage.
- I have slightly rearranged and updated the Project page, putting all the featured lists in collapsible tables. This unclutteres the page and you only have to see them if you want to. Give your feelings at the talk page.
- I have made a Wikipedia advert for our project, Image:Qxz-ad108.gif, what do you think? Personally I feel the words need improving ...
- There are still map problems at Template:French commune - any help at resolving them would be greatly appreciated.
- What about starting a monthly drive? We currently have no Featured Portals (except for the Basque Portal which really isn't French any way), so how about improving Portal:France??? I don't know what's exactly wrong but the criteria can be seen at Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria.
It doesn't seem like a lot, so I hope we will still have enough problems for nexts months issue. Salut till the next issue, ChrisDHDR (17:22, 10 November 2007 (UTC)).

Proposed deletion of Book of Tang
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Book of Tang, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- The article has only been edited twice in two years and has no references.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. gordonrox24 (talk) 20:35, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Re: al-Hasan al-Basri
[edit]Hey, I replied to your comments over there. There are no hard feelings, though my views on the structure of the section differ a bit. There really isn't any significance to this comment though I find that a polite introduction helps things run more smoothly. Let's just work this out as fast as possible. Isho`yahb II
[edit]You did actually spend some time comparing the two versions of the Ishoyahb II article, yes? --Zimriel (talk) 03:11, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Sorry if I was hasty. I seem to have done the same thing as you, and inadvertently taken out stuff that could usefully have stayed in (especially the material from Guidi's Chronicle). Let me revisit your earlier edit, and take another look at it. I don't agree with all you say, and I don't think we need to labour the point at such length, but I do agree with you that we need to cast doubt on the authenticity of these so-called 'treaties' between the Christians and the Muslims. I am familiar with Chase Robinson's book, and although he is not always right, he is right on that point.
Give me a couple of days, and I will try to come up with a suitable form of words.

Hello! I'm a user from Russian wiki. I write article about star 75 Ceti. And I've found that you added information about Chinese asterism in English version of the article. I tried to read the Chinese site following the link that you added (using Google translator). But there was nothing about 75 Ceti. Could you find me a passage where the star is written about. Sorry for my poor English. -- Marhorr (talk) 20:42, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Sapinuwa
[edit]Oh, you're very welcome! Thanks for reaching out; it's always nice to hear that people aren't upset about edits one's made. :-) The bigger problem is less how you cited things (which can always be tidied a little) than link rot, which is an internet-wide problem. You wouldn't happen to remember what "Focus on Ortakoy" referred to by any chance, would you? Q·L·1968 ☿ 21:13, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gray wolf, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lycurgus. Such links are almost always unintended, ... DPL bot (talk) 09:54, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
- In this case, I was linking to the name and not to any specific person with that name. So this was not unintended. --Zimriel (talk) 22:38, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
