Speedy deletion nomination of File:Jeff Wittek.jpeg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Jeff Wittek.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6785609/mediaviewer/rm3837823489/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 21:01, 3 May 2021 (UTC)
Why did you restore gratuitous and unnecessary sexual assault references to examples of electronic color code mnemonics?
[edit]Hello Yungli0n. You recently reverted an edit I made to List of electronic color code mnemonics and sent me the following message:
I noticed that you removed topically-relevant content from List of electronic color code mnemonics. However, Wikipedia is not censored. Please do not remove or censor information that directly relates to the subject of the article. If the content in question involves images, you have the option to configure Wikipedia to hide images that you may find offensive. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback; I am new to contributing to Wikipedia and still learning how this system works from the perspective of a contributor.
I understand that Wikipedia is not censored, and want to point out that my change was not an act of censoring. Rather I was following this part of the Wikipedia contribution guidelines on Wikipedia:Offensive_material:
offensive words and offensive images should not be included unless they are treated in an encyclopedic manner. Material that would be considered vulgar or obscene by typical Wikipedia readers[nb 1] should be used if and only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available.
The examples I removed are in explicit violation of these guidelines and have no place on Wikipedia. Including those examples helps to prop up and normalize a culture where it is acceptable to use male violence against women as a way to remember things, and is thus They are in no way required to make the article be more informative, relevant, or accurate, and they are at the tail end of a long list of more suitable alternatives. It must be possible to note that offensive and sexual mnemonics exist (fact) without listing them as if they are neutral.
Now that your message has prompted me to read more about Wikipedia policy I propose to redo my original change, expanding it to remove the entire list of unnecessary examples under the "Offensive" heading, which itself stands in violation of the Wikipedia:No_disclaimers policy, reducing that section to the final two paragraphs which point out the harmful impact of using offensive and sexual mnemonics (e.g. causing a person to feel alienated and drop out of MIT).

Thank you for helping maintain civility between me and another editor. I don't think MelonIsYes understands how Wikipedia works completely but let's not discuss that here. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 18:57, 5 May 2021 (UTC) |
Reverting multiple edits in a row
[edit]Hi Yungli0n, thanks for your help. The "undo" button on a single edit is not always the best choice when dealing with multiple vandalism revisions in a row. The page Help:Reverting describes alternative approaches. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:55, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. Yungli0n (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
