Singles vs EPs
I know you follow WP:NSONGS for premature singles, but I thought it was strange to treat some of them as songs, as they are more like albums (or at least EP's) than songs. In fact, iTunes often treats them as EPs. Take the Sunrise/Sunset single by Hamasaki. It's clearly not just a song. Anyways, I took it to the discussion page of WP:NSONGS, and I figured you'd want to put in your input. Also, I salute you for your diligence with keeping these pages. We're lucky to have you. Glaexeaus (talk) 15:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- A "song" per Wikipedia Music is a non-single or a B-side, see here I don't know why but it is. It doesn't matter what iTunes treat it as because iTunes treats mostly everything with more than one song as an EP. We can't treat them as an album or an EP because they weren't released as such. If the artist releases it as an EP or an album, then and only then and we say "okay the page can stay since the released date and track list has been confirmed". Another issue with the page is the lack of sources the page can't stay as a stand alone with one source saying it exists. Yes, "Sunrise/Sunset" is a single and people call songs singles. Which is mostly likely why they have it under WP:NSONGS. MS (Talk|Contributions) 16:45, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Nami Tamaki - Negai Boshi
Okay, sometimes the name of the song isn't completely in the chorus, and sometimes it is. I don't understand why you're saying it's Negai Hoshi. There have been other songs with the same kanji, and it's been Negai Boshi. Hoshi is never used, please be more precise at least, 'cause it makes more sense to just call it Negai Boshi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yuubari (talk • contribs) 06:11, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- I have reported you for violation the three revert rule. I asked you to discuss the problem not once but twice. You should have done so after I asked you the first time. Now onto Negai H/Boshi, if you knew a bit of Japanese you'd the kanji 星 means Hoshi and not Bōshi (某氏). Anyway, I'm going to redirect the page to Friends! seeing how the article fails both WP:NSONGS and WP:N. Have fun editing and don't leave a reply here, it makes no sense since I have already reported you. Also, I'll just remove it since you didn't want to talk it out when I asked you to. An article isn't supposed to be in both Category:Japanese television dramas and Category:Drama television series at the same time; the Japanese category is already a subcategory of the general one. TVXQ
Can you give me a good reason why I can't add the Guinness World Records part on the TVXQ article besides saying that it's trivial? It's pretty noticeable to be listed in the book. Even the world's tallest man has an article on Wikipedia because of that. Someone963852 (talk) 00:45, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't say that it was just trivial read the edit summary again, I believe there was more than just "Remove for being trivial". Having the most number-one singles for a foreign artist in Japan is an achievement, having the largest fanclub and the most pictures taken are not. The record holds no importance whatsoever. So what they got the largest fanclub and the most pictures taken. What importance does that have to the article? None, all of that is basically a fun fact. And I don't see you are bringing up the world's tallest man here, because TVXQ's article doesn't exist because of the Guinness World Record. MS (Talk|Contributions) 01:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it doesn't matter how many pictures they have taken or how big their fan club is, but being in the Guinness World Records is definitely a big accomplishment. As for the tallest man thing, that was just an example of how an average person would become well known because of their record. A few even have their own article on Wikipedia, even though it's just a few sentences short and that Wikipedia is not a record book.. ([1][2]) I'll leave it for now to avoid edit-warring but I'm still not impressed or even persuaded one bit by your response. Someone963852 (talk) 01:13, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

reverting my edit
DO NOT revert my edits. It was added to the comments page because I am curious about why the release dates are so different. It's important. Just like it's important that you list all the tracks, explain the meaning of any titles, etc. Wikipedia is not censored so if you removed my comments because I mentioned downloading songs then shame on you. Do not revert my edits again.--217.203.157.248 (talk) 18:47, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Your comment wasn't removed because you mentioned you downloaded the album. It was removed per WP:NOTAFORUM the talk isn't a place for you to talk about why the release dates are weird, where people download movies and music from nor is it a place for you to whine about how the music industry is destroying itself and is run by morons. The talk is suppose to be used for editors to discuss changes to the article. And if you don't want your edits reverted them simply don't edit. It says that on the bottom before you press "save page". MS (Talk|Contributions) 19:31, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Boshi
Hi, I was just wondering about your statement, "we do not go by the pronunciation we go by the romanization which is Hoshi." on the Negai Boshi former article. Given that rendaku is commonly rendered in Japanese articles as a voiced consonant in both the English Wikipedia and the Japanese one, are you implying that we change Kanagawa to Kanakawa, Yasuo Fukuda to Yasuo Fukuta and all references to nigirizushi to nigirisushi? I'm a little confused. --Prosperosity (talk) 06:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- Kanagawa and Yasuo Fukuda stay as they are because there are plenty of reliable sources that allows them to retain those names. As for the references on Sushi, I don't see what this has to do with the title of the article. But if there are reliable sources that lists it at nigirizushi then nigirizushi it is. The only way the articles would be titled as Kanakawa, Yasuo Fukuta, and nigirisushi is if there weren't any reliable sources to back up the names. Which is the case in "Negai Boshi", there are no reliable sources that suggest or say that the title is "Negai Boshi" so we have to go by "Negai Hoshi". MS (Talk|Contributions) 13:47, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- ネガイボシ, ネガイボシ, ネガイボシ, ネガイボシ, ネガイボシアイウィッシュアポンアスター, ネガイボシカナイボシ, ネガイボシカナイボシ
- There's a consensus on the rendaku rendering in the ClubDAM karaoke database (as I'd linked to in the article before linking it back). Every song which begins with 願い星 is pronounced Negai Boshi. What makes Nami's version different? --Prosperosity (talk) 05:09, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- A karaoke database isn't a reliable source. MS (Talk|Contributions) 05:17, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why isn't it? It's as reliable as any other music site fed with information by record companies, such as official sites or news websites. Songs have to have their kana-based transcriptions sent to such companies or else, y'know, the wrong lyrics will appear and people will get frustrated. --Prosperosity (talk) 07:34, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- A karaoke database isn't a reliable source. MS (Talk|Contributions) 05:17, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
The transliteration always follows the pronunciation. Just because the kanji 星 is usually read as "hoshi" does not mean that 願い星 would be read as "Negai Hoshi". Putting the text into an online romanization engine, reveals "negai boshi" and the lyrics of the song found here (with furigana) reveal the pronunciation of "negai boshi", which is how it should be parsed on the English Wikipedia (to read the broken text, you can use this tool).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:18, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
2008 Oricon singles
Thank you for getting the right link. You made another mistake which I corrected ("Yowamushi Santa" in the place of "Shuchishin" for the #5 selling single of the year).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
The ellipsis
When encoding text in Japanese, the ellipsis is automatically aligned with the middle line of the text. That means "…" will show up as "…" when encoded in Japanese (or in Chinese as "…" or in Korean as "…") and there is no need to use "・・・" or "···" to match the formatting.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:15, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
しない
It's romanized as "shinai", not "shin'ai". しんあい would be "shin'ai", which is how 深愛 would be written, but you are right that it is two words so the page should be at "Shin Ai".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:21, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Song subtitles
Song subtitles are always parsed in between parentheses and not between a colon. And just because WP:MOS-JA has one example being used as both (that is an album, which would use the colon as a subtitle) does not mean you should revert everything I just did.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:38, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Can you show me where song subtitles are "always parsed in between parentheses". I reverted them because there was a guideline that shows how to deal with song subtitles whereas you just moved them stating "song subtitles in parentheses". MS (Talk|Contributions) 09:46, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- (Don't Fear) The Reaper, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, and Rocket Man (I Think It's Going to Be a Long, Long Time) are all examples of songs with subtitles where the subtitle is parsed in parentheses. This is just how subtitles are treated when part of a song title. The Japanese don't use parentheses but instead use the tildes/wavy lines. Albums (Early Days: Best of Led Zeppelin Volume One), movies (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope), and television shows (Bishōjo Celebrity Panchanne: The Wife is a Superheroine!) use colons. By your opinion, the instrumental tracks on "Hatenaki Michi" should be written in English as "Song Title: Instrumental".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:53, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Also, sometimes the tildes are used to show the proper pronunciation of the song title, like the B-side of Setsugetsuka (The End of Silence).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:55, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have begun a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)#Song subtitles so the guideline can be clarified for cases of song titles.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 10:01, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the examples, but can you provide a guideline that says the same? And I've seen the discussion you have started. MS (Talk|Contributions) 10:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well it's not really a guideline but just the standard practice when it comes to songs that have subtitles. There's no guideline that states that this is what is done, because it is just how the English speaking musical community has treated songs that do have subtitles. The Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Elton John, and others that have written song titles with song subtitles parse it as such.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 10:19, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the examples, but can you provide a guideline that says the same? And I've seen the discussion you have started. MS (Talk|Contributions) 10:09, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Beast & MBLAQ
Hey, I've noticed that you keep on deleting the members section in the Beast page yet have never deleted the members sections on the MBLAQ page. Just out of curiosity, Under what criteria do you consider that a member section should be removed? NPeeerbvsesz (Push) 08:51, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- To be honesty, I don't even remember the last time I made an edit to the MBLAQ page and I'm not even sure if when I edited that page I made an edit that pertained to the member section. In the case of Beast, the member section has no importance to the article since there is no information on them other than the members birth place, education, and blood type. Also the rest of the information added such as whatever minor appearance they made is not important to the article as it does not have anything to do with the group as a whole. There really isn't a criteria that says "remove member sections", however; all the information added is trivia and it is unsourced and if it is sourced, the sources do not meet Wikipedia's standards of what a reliable source should be. - I was told by a user last year that {{reflist}} should not be used unless there are ten or more references. However, WP:FOOTNOTES says the decision between using </references> and {{reflist}} is a matter of style and does not have a rule. So I guess either is fine. 01:08, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Tildes
Sometimes what is between the tildes in the title of a Japanese song/album is actually the intended spelling/pronunciation of the word. In the case of "Sekirei ~seki-ray~", it should be "Seki-Ray" per MOS:J and not "Sekirei (Seki-Ray)".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:04, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

okay, if you said its poorly sourced
there isnt a need to delete everything off,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBLAQ fan name, memebers name, all these are added, i see no reason, why aint you editing to that?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2PM members name are there too, doesnt it means poorly sources? dance style is there too, but doesnt it mean poorly sourced? its not in any big article, and its considered trival too, isnt it? and when you revert the, spelling name is wrong too, do note that yoseop is spelt as yoseob, and du jun is spell as doojoon , get the members name right when you want to edit, many thanks Nicky456 (talk) 04:36, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Again, the OFFICIAL SITE romanizes the names as Yo Seop and Du Jun. And just because other stuff exist does not make it acceptable for another article to have the same content. MS (Talk|Contributions) 04:51, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Your section was not actually sourced very well (their own website does not count as a reliable, third-party source). The other article are, with multiple citations. - It's not the birthdays. The sources support that. It is the text that the source does not support. There is no point of have a member section when all that is there is their birth place and day. You have not offended me in anyway. The information you added is good. It needs to be copy edited but there is no problem with it. Also, I patrol my pages. Beast just happens to be the most active at the moment. MS (Talk|Contributions) 07:52, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
okays, i guess i got the rough idea to it but shinee`s sources seems to be lacking too... i check their source , its this link right http://shinee.iple.com/ ? but the link is broken , as such its lacking of information or to say its no longer considered a source right no? I would ask my friends to give me information as reguards to members information if there is else, i will neglect it, like what you said (: Nicky456 (talk) 07:26, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- The links need to be updated. They changed their web page from iple.com to smtown.com. MS (Talk|Contributions) 07:52, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay so what should i do to add in those member birthdays or so? okay im slightly getting you. as for the other members, just leave it? or? and the korean names , its given in the official website right? why cant I add it in into the wiki for beast? Nicky456 (talk) 07:53, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
erm sorry again, i dont really know how to use the talk function that well yet, but you said put under the same topic, okays so now I got a reference to hyun seung used to be in big bang and doo joon used to be hot blood , http://newsen.com/news_view.php?news_uid=384857 , let me know if it can considered as a ref? so I can edit accordingly, without you undo-ing to everything, it will be a waste of times for both of us (: if Im able to get more sources, i will put it here for members section. Sorry to disturb you so much, I just wanna do it right this time round. and sorry again, this website http://10.asiae.co.kr/Articles/new_view.htm?tsc=002005000&a_id=2009111711340972987 , the interview with 10 ASIA , can it be considered a reference? There is individual one too , and the group one mentioned about Doo Joon and Hyun Seung being eliminated , kikwang going to a group and yoseob being a long year trainee and such, look into it, and tell me if its considered as a reference, many thanks (:Nicky456 (talk) 10:50, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Some guideline
I'm trying to find the Wikipedia guideline that says that if something isn't broken, it shouldn't be fixed, but I can't find it for some stupid reason, and I remember you mentioning it in an edit you made a while back. Could you please point it out for me? Eugeniu B +1 06:32, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- You must be referring to redirects as that's the only thing that comes to mind when dealing with anything that is broken. The guideline can be found here. MS (Talk|Contributions) 14:30, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
List of Hot 100 number-one singles of xxxx (U.S.)
Thanks for reverting the vandalism to these pages. Just thought I'd give a heads-up: Jaylon305 may be Billhits, an editor I've blocked a bunch of times for making those same types of edits to the Hot 100 lists and socking. He was (is?) hellbent on changing them all back and removing the images. I'll keep an eye on it; you may want to, also. Later! - eo (talk) 00:33, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
BoA Image
I will let an Admin determine if it does not meet Wikipedia's Fair Use Guideline. Thanks. Xbxg32000 (talk) 22:40, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Xbxg32000
There is nothing that prevents this image from being used on more than one page, especially because until I just added it, it only had a fair use rationale to be used on Becky (talento) and not Kokoro Komete/Hapi Hapi.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:17, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- WP:NFC#UUI. See point one since the image is being used in a discography section. MS (Talk|Contributions) 23:49, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- There is a rationale being used in each case, and there is plenty of text in the caption and the accompanying discography section that makes it use much more in compliance with non-free content policies.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Also, there is nothing in MOS:TM that says the eighth note and the sharp cannot be used in a piped link to the article. It is also important because prior to this month, she was releasing songs under just "Becky".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:41, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Piped or not MOS:TM states that we are not to use characters that are not pronounced. MS (Talk|Contributions) 23:49, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
- Dealt with.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Also, it's not "Happy Happy". "Hapi Hapi" is Japanese onomatopoeia or something. Not the English words "Happy Happy".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:00, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
